On one hand Microsoft gets on of the most recognizable gaming IP in the world, but 2 billion for essentially 1 IP... I just feel like they should wait to see if Mojang has any other magic left in their hats before spending that kind of money.
Reading through some of these comments, there are just a lot of hypocrites here. Sony has purchased plenty of developers, and it was the right thing to do, not everything successful can developed within, some products, technology, or IP...
Not really sure that's the best developer to buy, I mean I know Minecraft sold very well for them on the 360, but just out right purchasing them doesn't make a ton of sense. I know Mojang is talented and all, but wouldn't you like to see more from them first before purchasing them?
My question is now with the release of remote play on the z3, and the release of PlayStation tv... where does the vita fit in exactly?
Well I guess it's good thing it's only September and they have until the spring to tighten this game up. Still looking forward to this game in a very jam packed 2015!
What does his stupid comment have to with the Wii U?
I believe No Man's Sky is digital only, and the universe is so big because of the algorithm they have in their engine to constantly generates new worlds, not necessarily due to a disc size.

Exactly, blu-ray was really only wanted/needed a PS3 to ensure they helped win the media format over HD-DVD and one could argue that Blu-ray has never really taken off as a format itself especially compared to that of the DVD, VHS, or CD. Streaming has cut really deep into that market. But I bought a PS3 partly for being the best blu-ray player out there as I'm a huge movie guy.
His resume is just ridiculous, directed or helped produce; The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Excitebike, Kid Icarus, Pilotwings, Punchout, Star Fox, Pokemon, and of course the little round plumber duo. Not too bad.
"I've seen some videos of Tropical Freeze and it seems pretty easy, nowhere near the last 2 Rayman." Those games are not easy, so try again.
You're exactly right, AAA developers have to stick to "what sells/works" and if it doesn't have cinematic gfx, sandbox/fps, or a mature theme, it typically doesn't garner the hype it needs to sell. Nintendo's brilliance, in a lot of ways, is their ability to have games with simplicity and yet challenging gameplay. But the "core" audience views simplistic gameplay as "childish" or "causal" in a lot of ways. Nintendo's image to core...
To really win back core gamers, it's not just going to be the games, but the marketing/perception will need to change too. Nintendo markets themselves as a "Pixar" like product, good for kids, intelligent and fun enough for adults. If they start making more cinematic (doesn't mean Mature games) or complex gameplay games for the Wii U then they have a chance to change the perception before the release the Wii U successor. They also will have to get over the fact that their...
wow, please troll harder.
Interesting observation... I would really hate for that to be true though.
I agree, as an owner of the vita, ps3, and ps4, there was a point in time (especially last year and year before) where it seemed like every Tuesday was like Christmas. Now there may be one game between the three that I might want to try out and play, last months was Dragon Crown, Sly Cooper the month before that. Don't get me wrong it's extremely hard for me to even think about complaining about something that's been so awesome for so long. I've just noticed myself becoming...
Shovel Knight right now, for me, is one of the best indie games I've ever played and is keeping my Wii U alive and kicking in my living room!
Velocity is really fun... but to all those who've impatient people like me who have already bought... not much else is offered this month.
I did the same thing with mass effect, I made the mistake of starting the sequel before completing the original. The first is just so slow in the beginning especially compared to mass effect 2.
@SoapShoes I think Microsoft wanted Kinect to more than it was, a true motion sensing and voice recongintion device for multimedia applications... but it's expensive and clunky, it works though, but I think it's become for of a novelty.
@ThatOneGuyThere I agree, and I have high hopes for VR not just for gaming but for wide variety of applications. Imagine using VR to have live action view of any sporting or concert event? Or even seeing parts of the world in real t...
Microsoft did go big with Kinect... they spent a stupid amount of money on it, it just didn't pan out. But I agree, I hope Sony pours as much support behind this as possible. I really hope VR takes off.
I feel like author could have left the entire part about either the xbox or the PlayStation being outdated and made a decent argument/article about how 4k tv's really selling better than expected. It seems like a cheap shot to even bring in the topic of outdated consoles, if the author didn't know gamers play games for fun and entertainment, not just for resolution.
