I have to say the Gamecube version holds up pretty well. The biggest difference was the character models. The Gamecube was a pretty nice machine with some impressive specs, but it's sales go to show that even if Nintendo created a powerful machine, doesn't always translate to sales.
Does anyone know if they've attempted to update the controls for this remake?
It's pretty clear that's a money/3rd party relations sort of thing. No one else's 1st party titles sell like Nintendo's (we can argue all day on the "milking" of those IPs, but that's a different topic). Which, in turn, allows them to scrape by at least with the Wii U. Nintendo, it seems, is focused almost completely inward making sure that their 1st party games/sells are optimized, and it's been that way since the N64. Their philosophy has been to let 3r...
lol no, it's just business. It's not like Sony isn't going to make money off of Minecraft, even though it's owned by Microsoft. This would be the equivalent of Microsoft not supporting Blu-rays because Sony gets royalties of Blu-rays. Can you imagine the fallout if Sony were to kick out Minecraft?
I must have watched that video like 100 times before I stumbled upon that glorious target demo kiosk of super Mario 64 back in the day.
Don't bother, People don't understand math here... It's been proven over and over.
lol me too, but around NES game number 250 my A.D.D kicked in and went in on Dreamcast/N64/PS1 games. I really need to learn to focus on one thin... squirrel!
Well for one Tearaway wasn't on the Wii U... It's also media perception, all we've heard from the launching of the 3ds to the Wii U that Nintendo is financially doomed. I think it's rather odd that major video game publications often "can" the Wii U, but review most of their games quite positively. Nintendo isn't for everyone, just like Playstation, and Xbox. To each their own.
I own all three and spend a pretty good amount of time with each one. Destiny on the PS4, Madden and EA access on the Xbox, and Shovel Knight and Mario Kart on the Wii U. That being said... I probably should have waited to fully upgrade to the "next-gen" until at least next year.
Good list though I would switch the wii u with the DS. I like the Wii U, but IMO the DS definitely offered and innovated more.
I think that's part of it, but it's sort of a snow ball effect. To any non-playstation fanboy who watched that infamous E3 reveal, the DRM-free and $100 price difference were the one-two punches that knocked Microsoft out of contention before they could really start. Any of the multiplat games I've played on both Xbox1 and PS4; BF4, Madden 25, Destiny, and Need For Speed, the only title that I noticed any difference in visual quality was BF4. The whole 900p vs 1080p is pretty m...
I love how people think they see a difference between 900p and 1080p on anything less than a 50" screen unless you sit 5 feet infront of the screen and have 20/20 or better vision...
There's still a few issues I have with this, at for the start;
The fact it needs to be hard wired to do PS4 remote play kind of sucks.
The fact its only using the DS3 right, prefer the DS4 way more
I completely dislike the UI as it's built for a touchscreen.
Speaking of touchscreen games that I would love to play that utilize the touchscreen like Gravity Rush, Uncharted, and Tearaway you currently can't play is a huge bummer.
If it sells wel...
Next month my PS+ subscription comes to a 4 year end. It has nothing to do with the overall value of what this service brings to most PS gamers, I just find myself less interested in the monthly offerings. I don't really play any MP games on the PS ecosystem as most of my friends play (and only play) Halo no matter how hard try and convenience them owning both systems wouldn't be the end of the world. This service has brought me countless hours or play with AAA games on the PS3 (es...
All though this article comes off a little preachy, I do agree with it's premise. I first and fore most am a video game lover, when any new system comes out, my desire to own it is sometimes overwhelming even through the clearest of conscience. To me, there is nothing like opening up a new console box, pulling the hardware from it's plastic sleeve, and watching it boot up for the very first time. This "new" generation has been the most lackluster in terms of substance, I&...
Yeah the browser does work far better, but usually xbox is always (it's connected through the cable tv) plus the voice commands to YouTube is quite nice... way more useful than ever thought it would be. YouTube is still a luxury, not necessarily a necessity. The bluray thing is weird cause I was so used using the ps3 as our main bluray player and thing worked flawlessly. The ps4 though, it just takes forever to load some menus on certain movies.
For me, today, right now, my top 3 pros and cons for my PS4 vs my Xbox1:
1. Clean easy UI
2. 1080p in most games, plus the ability to do DTS and Dolby (I can't get my xbox to use anything other than PCM)
3. I might in the minority, be the indie games have been great
Cons
1. No Youtube, i know, but i do use it a lot
2. I believe it's coming, but a better way to organize the main media bar
3. The blu-ray player, it's ...
The hype Bungie, Sony, and even Microsoft created, for this game would have never been matched for expectations or critical acclaim. Over hype creates false modesty, whether intended or not rubs some people the wrong way. So that's naturally going to create the haters and the over-protectors (see meta-critic user reviews). Personally I think the game has decent to good "bones" and might/should be a great fleshed out game over the coming years. Bungie has it's work cut ou...
Of course not, but I guess define "flop?" Will it sell even half as well as it did last November, no, but outside of COD and Halo, GTA carries a lot of "mainstream" weight for a lot of dads and moms buying Christmas gifts. They'll have no idea that's a remaster but recognize the GTA title, much like a Mario are COD game, and know that their kid(s) probably will want it. I can almost guarantee GTA will be the 2nd or 3rd highest selling game of November.
GTA and flop do not belong in the same sentence. This game will definitely sell a decent amount for some us of starved PS4 and Xbox1 owners.
A final fantasy game with no character switching? Why bother calling it final fantasy then? Ok... that's a little over dramatic but still, that's a pretty big element of what makes a final fantasy game great.
