@Hicken because the reality of the situation is Sony is far worse financial shape than Nintendo and Microsoft needs the xbox to be a success as either a gaming platform or the Trojan horse for all things media related. I love these blind Sony fans think the Xbox was such an abomination to this generation. Need I remind them that if weren't for the Xbox's inital selling success, who knows how long Sony would have held on to the ridiculous $600 price-tag or the need and subseqent improvements of the PSN network... not mention PS plus.
The more I watch the videos for this game the more impressed I get with it. I didn't think Nintendo really had it in them to look as creative as Ubisoft and Raymand Legends but these characters and levels look amazing. I'll be honest, I was hoping more for the Mario 64 explore/adventure type of game, but this along with the PS4 is going to make for a entertaining and expensive holiday season.
It's the age old argument that what "core" gamers care about translates into sales, which all 3 major console manufactures know is false. True, core gamers make up a portion of sales but it's the soccer moms and causal fan's money that pushes these machines (and games) into profitablity. It will be about the same but flipped as the PS4 will win globally (barely) while the Xbox will playing catchup. Make no mistake though unless one of the 3 main systems come up with some causal buyer must have, they will not be in 70 million sold range like last generation. More in the realm of high 50s low 60s. The global demand and buying power is not what it once was.

Ok first Sony pushed 3D... hard and failed, in fact 3D as a whole has failed. So to say Nintendo just uses gimmicks is simply not true.
Secondly, if you want to convince me that Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon are kiddie games then turn and say Tearaway isn't, you are mistaken.
I want a Vita, but there is simply no way it will outsell the 3DS 2DS or whatever the hell Nintendo puts out as portable.
Completely agree with this. It's like Sony watched Microsoft fumble out of the gate then picked up the ball, ran it all the way down to goal line but decided stop and run out the clock. I feel like they have a great opportunity to separate themselves this gen, but are holding back. Really don't feel like they offering anything new other than a "4"

It hasn't mattered, it doesn't matter, and will never matter which system has the graphic producing edge. Name one system outside the original NES that won a console war with the system with highest graphical horsepower. It depends on the developers and whether or not they produce "fun, innovating, and exciting" games.

You're absolutely right EA or Activision would never just ignore Sony if they didn't implement a DRM system however the incentive to publish new IPs or DLC first or simultaneously across systems would be virtually impossible from a business standpoint. I think the argument can be made that Nintendo needs Sony successful too. If it weren't for Sony's success on the PS2 and for the most PS3, I don't know if the Wii would have been as successful as it was.
