Agreed. For me the always online thing would not bother me if it were to prevent piracy. What bothers me is a micro-transaction system. If they stick with mt's in game I think it will be a skip for me.
I will take a wait and see approach but at this point I am very disappointed they have some micro-transaction system in game. I find the whole concept of mt's frustrating. I am leaning heavily towards no purchase now. What a shame they ruined the game with these systems in place.
"Gold exists for users who want to speed up their army building process". Would seem like building the army is part of the game. So you can pay to actually not play part of the game. Go figure. Clearly industry data must show that micro-transactions "work" otherwise studios and publishers would not continually include them in games. I for one have never purchased anything considered a mt. What was a game on my list for purchase may possibly fall off now. I'll wait to ...
Well MS will surely EOL WIn7 at some point. It's their product and they can do what they chose. I use Win 10 Pro on the PC I built. Works flawlessly for me. Not sure why others have problems but I don't doubt that they do. Win7 usage will slowly erode just for the mere fact that newer HW (CPU and chipsets) may not be supported or function as we go forward. If one were to upgrade to Win 10 I would recommend Pro version over the standard version just for the fact you can control patchin...
Yea, initially I was considering this game a day 1 purchase. At the very least I will wait and see what it's like after release before making a decision. But I suspect due too MTs, it may end up falling off my list entirely.
I think it is a vocal minority. The vast numbers of gamers make up the silent majority and feel sad for a young man's death.
As long as they don't dumb down the game so much it ceases to offer any challenge. I am okay with easy to learn hard to master. Hoping for the best.
"Monolith Are Treating Shadow of War On Xbox One X With Great Care And Tremendous Pride". As opposed to what? Not great care and lack of pride? The same is probably true for all platforms. At the end of the day, more copies will be sold on PS4 as that has the largest install base. They will not put less effort into a platform where they stand to make a greater amount of revenue.
@XanderZane I agree there are not many titles which interest me too much just yet. Although I'd add Xenoblade 2 to that list.
Crazy how quickly the stock sells out. I got lucky 2 months ago and got one at Gamestop by pure luck. I asked the guy at counter if they had any Switch, expecting him to say no. To my surprise he said we have 1 left, so I grabbed it.
@Summons75 What you state is sad but true. Both series of games, ME & DA, have taken a decisive turn for the worse. Although DA:I was not terrible, it was not near as interesting as DA:O. And what can we say about ME:A? Ugh.
Of the sales made, I suspect will be primarily to existing Xbox owners who feel compelled to upgrade. But will it drive gains in market share from PC or PS4 owners? That seems doubtful. Once people have made a commitment to a platform they tend to stick with that choice unless given a sufficient reason to change. Is the 1X enough to grow market share? Probably not. But I think they are looking to stop the bleeding. But without a stellar games lineup, a piece of hardware has limited value in...
It seems so simple but MS just doesn't get it. MS seems to be an expert at over promising and under delivering.
"So much" is a very technical term. To whom are they selling this product with such statements? You'd think 4K displays have 50%+ adoption rates already. I think in the U.S. 4K adoption is 10% at best currently and I imagine worldwide even less. By the time 4K displaces 1080 sets new consoles will already be out. It'll be very interesting to see in two years if this product substantially changed MS fortunes in the console space globally.
MS is having a tough time messaging this new console. On the one hand they have to portray it as vastly superior to anything out there performance wise. But this speaks to not only their competition but also their own product the X1. Much of their install base, particularly kids who rely upon their parents to buy their console, are going to feel like they are second class. So imagine the kid who gets a X1s last year and now has to go tell his parents oh I need the X1X now. So who is MS's...
Yep that was my first thought too. "You Either Die A Hero, Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain" -- Harvey Two Face
I imagine a Gears 5 would be Play Anywhere. And frankly I don't think MS would mind at all if people bought their games on PC via their store. Also, you think MS would relegate Gears 5 to only 1X and drop orig X1 support? Never happen. They'd be leaving alot of money on the table by dropping orig X1.
I don't disagree that Sony has nothing to 'worry' about. However, nobody wants Sony to feel over confident either. Sony will hopefully keep executing their plan of fostering great game development for the PS4 and beyond. I think Sony will continue to fair just fine against MS, especially since their customer base seems to be less pigeon holed to one geographical region.
I think E3 is declining in importance for announcements. Companies seem to want to rely upon their own shows versus E3.
microtransaction system. Ugh. I think this is a skip now.
