Review sites are not going to call out a major title for a platform like MS or Sony. These sites know not to get on their bad side. It is a certainty that these major sites feel pressure from their management not to publish overly critical reviews. Generally, a minimum of 7 or 8 is required. Review sites are often an extension of the marketing department now. Not sure these review sites have much credibility anymore.

That's is exactly it. A consumer already paid retail price for a game only to have content gimped so you can pay more via MT system. Never pre-order such games and don't necessarily base your decision solely on a review site like Gamespot, IGN, etc. MT systems in games are not a good thing. To make matter's worse, systems now are basically gambling. You pay real money for a chance to get something not buying for an actual piece of content.

I will wait and see on ME:SoW. Unfortunately, the dev was probably forced to add a terrible MT system. Frankly MT in a single player game is a scourge. Not saying the game can't be good but it is unknown for me at this time. What was once a day 1 purchase is now wait and see.

Review scores are generally useless now. Websites don't want to bite the hand that feds them from publishers so they try not to give low scores.

IMO, no way I buy Forza 7 nor Shadow of War. I hope sales of these titles is poor as that is the only way publishers will get the message. Many if not most people dislike MTs in a game which they already paid retail price for to play.

@mark_parch I just watched his review. He did a decent job. The game looks decent. Maybe I'll pick it up at some point for pc.

Well that review site is now on MS 3h1t list . I am sure all the major review sites will score 8 or better. They know how to play ball. ;-\

Either way, I'll watch some streams and maybe some video reviews before making up my mind. At $20 at least it's not a full on AAAA price point.

I remember the day I got my 2600. I think I stayed up all night in anticipation of playing Space Invaders and Adventure the next morning. Played a ton of games on Atari 2600. I also remember playing Activision's "Pitfall" quite a bit too. Like the author, I missed out on much of the NES craze as I was busy with other things at that time. If only that have microtransactions back then. ;) jk

I still find it amazing that people who would pay money to *not* play the game. To pay money to "save time". I can't believe it costs more money to play less. The whole game balance issue is a major concern. Assurances or not, I will stay far away from this game till I hear from friends or others who are actually playing the game and can vouch for the balance. Day 1? No chance.

Give me a break. None of you are looking at sales and market data more than some casual couch analysis. If you're so capable of predicting market trends then perhaps some investment banks would be happy to pay you for your 'expertise'. As for @Koyes, thinking also involves research too and considering the analysis of reputable sources. I didn't say Credit Suisse would be correct. What I said was I'll take their analysis over some pundit who thinks reading articles linked ...

You base this on what? Your intuition? I'll take Credit Suisse analysis over intuition.

True PS2 sold great. Different time and different marketplace though. Mobile and online gaming were not what it is today so the competitive marketplace was a significantly different landscape compared to today. The article was brief but Credit Suisse is a reputable source and I don't think they pull their sales forecast out of thin air. But that said it is just a forecast and could be off.

Nintendo Switch selling well in no way diminishes the awesome job Sony is doing. I have both as I prefer PS4 for home console gaming but Switch on the go is pretty sweet. I imagine Mario title and witch sales this holiday shopping season in the west will be very high. PS4 will sell great too. They both serve slightly different audiences with some crossover. And Japan is a huge gaming market for sure which loves mobile.

I think one reason it may outsell is over time it will displace the 3DS for many people. Even the last Nintendo Direct the focus was more on Switch vs 3DS. I think a year from now sales will continue to accelerate for the Switch worldwide.

Little early to say on the next AC game for me. But surely compared to Shadow of War, it does look at least better in comparison.

Have to disagree with you on Destiny. D2 is a good game. Better than D1 so far.If D2 is for suckers then just about every sequel game you must feel the same way. Gears, Forza, EA Sports games, etc. They are all iterative games. Now maybe you didn't like D1 and that's fine, but I am doubtful you have even played D2 let alone it's end game content.

However, I do partially agree with you on Shadow of War. The MT strategy is clearly tainting the game. What was o...

Not sure this should be considered a "News" article. At this point, it is considered opinion.

It was my understanding that it is called 'Power' now not 'Light' and is calculated differently than Light was in D1. I wish some writers would copy edit their work a little better than rush to publish without seemingly even looking at what t hey wrote.

I think MS would love to attract new platform purchases. XBox surely has (unfairly or not) the bro shooter stigma. So marketing 1st or 3rd party titles from a non-typical genre for Xbox would not be a bad thing. I am quite sure MS would like to be known for catering to all genres / gamers. It takes time to build a community / userbase but it also takes some effort on the part of the platform holder too.

If it outsells it is because the orig X1 was underpowered and they are getting lots of upgrades from their existing user base. PS4 Pro is clearly aimed at 4k crowd whilst the existing 1080p crowd is still served well by the base PS4.
