Yea EA is using the "it's Star Wars, they'll buy anything and accept anything". I will not buy this game. Pass the word on to all your friends to not buy this game and educate them why. EA trying to play the victim. Give me a break. EA doesn't really listen to gamers. The only way to combat them is to not purchase their games with MTs like SW BF2.

EA get's none of my money. Zero. As Michael Corleone said in the Godfather, "Here's my offer. You'll get nothing...."

@morganfell I am not so sure loot boxes have to happen at all. I have not bought and will not buy, Forza 7, Shadow of War, AC Origins, and will not buy SW BF2. Sure it's tempting to get drawn in by the shiny new penny with each game release, but if you can weather the initial release bandwagon, I find that I can easily not regret purchasing the game at all. That's clearly was EA hope to do is draw people in with pretty graphics and suck you into their ecosystem. Just say no to MT sy...

In the article, he makes it very clear that BotW did not save him. It provided an outlet for escapism through a character which he draws some parallels to life's difficulties. The article quotes a doctor who says escapism can be helpful for people with depression. You could probably substitute many different types of distractions which provide a form of escapism. I have no problems with a site publishing such articles. Gaming is no cure for clinical depression but if someone out there ...

Has any company done better after having been acquired by EA? I believe that few if any would be considered more successful after acquisition. I don't see why Respawn would be any different. EA is destroying creativity in the industry. EA is like a virus with a wake of destruction in it's wake. We'll all soon mourn the loss of Respawn after it shudders in's doors in the next couple years.

Yep MH World is a likely purchase for me. Looks to be a fun game.

It's called manufacturing hype. Create the appearance of demand. We all recall the images of stacks of Xbox One's sitting in stores. MS would love to manufacture press stories showing lines of people queueing to buy their "hot" product. Try to influence people to follow the herd. $500 to play the same average games library you already have. Uh no thanks.

I think Sony's conferences work very well. As the saying goes in sales, "always leave them wanting more". Their conferences certainly make me want to know more about the games. All in good time.

I thought the trailer was fantastic. Gritty. If someone thinks the game is too violent, then don't play it. I know I'll be playing it.

I imagine the majority of X1X sales will go to existing X1 owners upgrading. X1X is MS attempt to stem the bleeding of it's base and keep them on the platform. The money is in service and software sales. For years MS has lost player base and continues to flounder in many global markets. Will MS gain globally in any substantial fashion on the competition this generation? Doubtful. As MS can attest to, performance / power gaps can be closed with new hardware. It will be the games ultimate...

I also have the 2TB Firecuda internal drive. It's a very good drive. The hybrid nature really helps improve load times on frequently access content. But it is nice that Sony does support external drives now if I need even more space.

@HotMoltenLava Can you cite a source on profitability? From what I read Xbox is not always profitable for MS. Here's one article of many I found,

https://nowloading.co/p/xbo...

And as I suspected I read recently that the X1X will be sold at a loss or break even per unit.

How can people fall for the argument that you don't have to buy MTs and thus that makes it alright they exist in the SP game. The game is made to encourage tedious grind to incent people to spend money on MTs. MT development cost is relatively inexpensive and thus the profit margin very high. Naturally the game balance will be skewed. These type of games are all non-purchase.

And then you get ad hominem attacks by commenters here calling people idiots. Real classy.

Yep same here. Don't let the shiny graphics fool you. SP games with MTs are not something to encourage by purchasing. Saved me $60 as well.

Blizzard is not anywhere near the poor company that EA has become. EA continues to push out mediocre to poor games, now with MTs. In addition, good dev studios which they purchased get wrecked. There is nothing EA is producing which is worth my money.

Well I liked FO4 but I preferred New Vegas for sure. I wouldn't say Fallout needs rescuing but it surely needs some improvement. Many people who played FO4 didn't play earlier titles so they have no basis for comparison. I do agree Bethesda needs a new revamped engine.

I do wonder though if PC publishers will move to the MS Store and the Universal Windows Platform over time as their system is moving to a non-Win32 binary. It will make pirating and cheat on PC much more difficult. Not sure I want that but I am curious. Although their solution could ultimately be worse for the consumer in the long run. I don't really have much faith or trust in MS.

On balance I think MS has done more harm than good for gaming consumers.

Yep Shadow of War has MT's to fleece some people. Their existence alters game balance to a point where the game is less appealing. I played the first game but will avoid the second.

3013d ago 9 agree1 disagreeView comment

This isn't a personal thing against devs with families. This isn't charity, it's a business. Make games people want to play without fleecing some people with MT's and more people will buy the game. So now we're supposed to buy games with MT's so we can provide charitable giving to devs in need? I'd rather donate to a real charity. Granted I think often times it's the publisher pushing the MT's not necessarily the devs. But I guess it's "go along t...
