Super useless in more places than just JP.
It is plain to see that X1 owners were unhappy with their X1 so they are upgrading. PS4 is a solid console and many users felt no need to upgrade. Does anyone think X1X is converting many PS4 owners to move exclusively to that platform? I doubt it. MS is not really increasing their userbase just replacing consoles to their existing userbase. I won't replace my X1 with an X1X. I'll just use my PC to play their exclusives.
The problem is not the tech. Surely the lack of interesting titles is a problem. But frankly, I have a lack of enthusiasm and don't really trust MS long term. They seem to lack a creative spirit and churn out the same games year after year. I am sure there's another Don Mattrick somewhere in Redmond just waiting in the wings.
According to the U.S. store page, the sale runs through 28 November 0800 AM PST. And I think the list is longer than that included above.
Edit - sorry just noticed @EDMIX did include the games list continuation below.....
@morganfell I agree parenting should not be left out. My kids are older and don't play such games. However, I did inform my sister not to buy this game for her two boys. Hold off till specific changes are articulated and implemented. With the original MT system, the game was a blatant cash grab masquerading as part of the Star Wars universe.
But what are these games rated? Are they 'M' for mature if certain randomized lootbox systems are considered gambling?...
Good point. But at least with Amiibo you get the figure. But good point nonetheless.
Perhaps this is the patch where lootboxes are introduced in game. /s
This is great news. I live in the U.S. but I'm sorry I just don't agree with the ESRB's use of the legal definition of gambling. The dictionary definition is more appropriate to consumers.
Gambling - the activity or practice of playing at a game of chance for money or other stakes.
It's dishonest on EA and other publishers parts to use some supposed loophole of getting something of value which you perhaps didn't want at all as recou...
I think you're right, the solution from publishers will be to remove the element of chance and just make it a store where you can buy what you want. If you want a game of chance in your game then don't bring real-world money into it or it's gambling.
It is inaccurate to believe that development costs are going up. This assumption by many is being pushed as fact but it is not true. They are not. Marketing costs are on the rise. Publishers release fewer games today than they did 5 - 10 years ago. They spend more on marketing than ever before. Loot boxes are being fraudulently pushed as the solution. The truth is that these systems are very high margin as development costs to produce them are very low. What publishers would like to do...
@UCForce The only problem with expansions is the fine line of what is day 1 DLC and what is not. Holding back content for the purpose of selling it as an expansion feels wrong. Next thing you know base games are shells of their former self and reliant solely upon expansions. I am okay with expansions though especially if done like CDPR has with The Witcher 3.
That's awesome. You'll love playing on the Switch. I have yet to purchase HZD Frozen wilds expansion but I will over the holidays.
@Artemidorus Agreed. Don't believe this fatalist mentality that "they are here to stay" so just accept it and take your medicine. Author of the article has no backbone. Leave MT systems in f2p games. Stay out of retail AAA games.
The game will underperform projections.
I think at issue here is EA pushing a business model which goes way way too far. They figured they could fleece all the Star Wars fans out there and they'd pony up all their money just because it's Star Wars. Taking advantage of uninformed parents shopping for Xmas presents. EA will be merciless with their own IP's which are not external properties like SW. Look what they do with FIFA. Can you imagine what they will do to Anthem?...
What is it with these analysts? They cite "an hour of video game content is still one of the cheapest forms of entertainment". As if all forms of entertainment are based on dollars per hour (substitute your currency of choice). An hour of grind fest is not necessarily considered entertainment by everyone. So 4 hour movies are more enjoyable? If it's based on time then perhaps f2p games are the finest games of all since you need to spend nothing and can play without MT in many...
Give me a break these articles trying to convince people that there is some momentum to switching from PS4 to Xbox. Who writes this kinda stuff? MS Marketing?
Last I checked digital sales were doing very well and retailers like Gamestop in the U.S. are having trouble. How about make games without day 1 DLC and microtransactions. Make great games and people will happily buy expansions or sequels. Games as a Service is a bit fat steaming pile of you know what. Nobody wants or needs loot boxes or microtransactions. The only people who want them are publishers because the margins on them are so high. Purchasing microtransactions or the games which co...
Is the drive a hybrid SSHD? But yea, surely cost has to be the reason.
Agree. Only finished released games. Treating early access as if it were a finished product is only going to encourage more devs to leave games unfinished. Look how long DayZ has been in early access. As highly regarded as PUBG is right now, even Brendan Greene, to his credit, felt like PUBG should not receive the award.
If that's the future then the future is a very dark and boring place.
