You just know AJ will either get the cold shoulder from MS now or get the angry letter from marketing.
Hardware sales which drive a high attach rate and subscription rate. I imagine MS only wishes they had moved the same number of consoles which Sony has. Hard to sell XBL without selling the console.
The question is are those X sales to completely new customers? Or are they to X1 owners who upgraded? I'd venture a guess that much of those sales figures are to existing Xbox owners.
Will you be playing at altitude? Or maybe playing in your treehouse? That was funny. Cory is gonna be laughing all the way to the bank on that one.
I believe we pay by the pound (or kg). It's smaller but denser. :) /s
Agreed. I surprisingly spend more time in photo mode for HZD than I anticipated. I pre-ordered the GoW Pro bundle so I imagine once they drop photo mode for GoW I'll enjoy it as much as I do on HZD.
What many people really disklike about EA is the in your face blatant means they employed to fleece people. It really turns people against them, deservedly so. Plus working against them is that this was a Star Wars game. EA is 0 for 2 now in the battlefront series.
Two types of games (perhaps more) a publisher really has to get right or face the wrath of customers. Star Wars titles or Dungeons and Dragons titles. Both have their own universe outside of video games. Screw...
A whole two hours played. Wow. Spent more time writing the article than playing the game. That's marketing for you.
I think Phil is probably right that cloud computing will be impactful and build for many years to come. Like many people here on n4g, I work in the cloud computing world. Nearly all development and resources are being made in "cloud". Granted cloud is a nebulous term and means many different things. As a malleable computing resource which can scale both up and down automatically, it provides tremendous opportunities for gaming. Part of Phil's job is to examine technology and pl...
I think cloud computing and gaming will intersect in substantial ways. That does not mean streaming games over the internet from a cloud provider though. I think internet limitations will continue to be reduced. I am curious what impact 5G wireless will have on internet connectivity. However, that said, I do not think the always online connectivity which improves upon gaming as it is today is right around the corner. I think it'll be quite some years and multiple console generations awa...
Perhaps the update does more under the covers than is obvious to the user. Preparing for future updates when online service is enabled or other architectural changes in software which the business requested?
Cringe worthy show.
I was just gonna say, imagine having paid $500 for the OG X1 on launch and then another $500 for the X1X. Ugh. ;)
I own just the base game. I'll wait till a sale sometime in the future before I play the new content. I don't want to be in for $60 (base game) + $40 (season pass + Royal Ed). Kinda sux they priced it that way. Waiting on a sale....
I don't think a disagree means your opinion is invalid. I think it just means there are more than those two games many others are anticipating. But both titles you mention look promising.
DA:O was really good. And I liked DA:I just not quite as much. I never played DA:2 so I can really speak for that title.
Had I not needed a second PS4 (my kid plays on my OG) I would also have waited. However, since I needed a second PS4 and the special edition GoW bundle was a good deal, I ended up ordering that. $399 with the game included made it worthwhile for me.
Based on the dev response, he chalks it up to the fact their engine does not currently support OpenGL. So your comment on Xbox being a better console to design for is just a fanboy comment. DirectX is a MS proprietary library whereas OpenGL as a standard is not specific to one company.
@PopaBop I agree that first impressions last a long time. But I have to give a nod to dev studios who can take in feedback and improve upon their works. It's true some studios walk away but some do not. At least Ubisoft let Massive stick with it and improve. Ubisoft also let the studio improve upon Rainbows 6 Seige too. I'm glad I kept going back so as not to base my opinion on the game based on the initial month of release. It'll be interesting to see what engine changes occur...
IGN has a close relationship with MS marketing. They are trying to walk a line. How low a score can we give it without being in MS bad graces or give it a score too high and our readers / viewers will think we're sell outs. MS has serious damage control underway. A major exclusive title they finally release receives mediocre to poor reviews. If SoT was just some indie title with no major backing from a platform holder or publisher, you can bet IGN would have had a lower score. So an IGN 7...
