XBox fans are so eager to trust MS. MS suits will meddle in the creative process from their studios. You have several years to go before anything is shown nevermind released. And who's to say what is released won't be lackluster? It's hard to trust or believe in MS when they have such a poor track record. Let's see in 5 years where MS really stands with quality regular game releases. I'm skeptical of their ability to deliver.
I don't understand why so many people are seemingly reluctant or afraid of playing against other real people. Griefing can be minimized. Game AI is only so good. The real thing is far more challenging. I think it's interesting that BGS is trying something different. FO76 does not mean there won't be a FO5 traditional SP game in the future. I am cautiously optimistic.
When you had nothing else to purchase people were willing to take a chance. Turns out they got the short end of the stick with SoT. The game is really "meh".
MS and toadies in the press declare them a winner. A winner of what? This is just hype machine trying to drum up enthusiasm for an average at best product in the X1. 6 months from now we'll all still be waiting for something significant from MS. This time last year they touted SoT and SoD. So they finally release them and you could just hear the air let out of the balloon. Both games were met with a collect "meh". Suddenly, MS thinks they have momentum based on 3rd party multi...
I own both consoles. And I can tell you first hand that Sony PSN works great for me. MS services? GwG has turned into a joke. GamePass is ruining GwG as MS would rather put titles there than GwG as it is twice the cost of GwG. Sony relaxed? If you call all the games they release relaxed what does that make MS? Comatose? As an owner of both products, I can honestly say PS4 has offered a better experience overall by far. Even the OG PS4 still holds it's own at 1080p. The OG X1, not so muc...
I surely hope CDPR delivers the good like we all know they are capable. People who've seen the closed door demo seem to sure like what they've seen.
Although I didn't care for the presentation format for Sony, with respect to actual content and substance, they had it all over MS. MS showed other studios work which is not their own and talked about buying studios who have no real content to show. I think XBoxers are happy that MS doesn't appear to want to exit the space in that they spent money. But that doesn't mean these studios will deliver. MS recent track record shows otherwise. MS often times ruin what they touch, kinda l...
I don't think the timeline @TheOptimist present is quite accurate. Word from behind the scenes gameplay demo seems to be positive. Not sure why they didn't show the public. Maybe just like teasing longer. As the saying goes, "always leave them wanting more".
I also own an X1 but this gen I have preferred playing on my PS4. MS keeps making promises but I prefer results, not platitudes. I also agree competition is good for the industry and consumers but to date, MS has really underwhelmed. So I'll believe it when I see it with MS.
MS's studios sure have underwhelmed recently. XBoxer's sure buy into hype very easily. They're so starved for positive news they will accept anything. Hard to trust MS when they have not delivered the goods dating back to the late 360 era.
@nitus10 I was thinking the same thing regarding why buy an XBox specific SSD? Why are drives marketed as such? One can buy nearly any external SSD. What is console specific about these devices they market?
I will say it would be nice if next gen the consoles have PCIe bus connectivity for storage. It would probably be very expensive though to have M.2 type storage for a console. But it sure would be fast.
How do you win a conference? Meaning they have a better marketing message? I'm not sure what winning it means. Do you really think buying a studio for some future unknown title will translate to sales? All the while Sony will release many games available nowhere else and still have all the 3rd party titles which MS seems to claim as their own. Frankly MS is in quite a bad situation both sales wise and future wise. People buying into a dream. It's amazing how easily fooled some consum...
Although I didn't care for the format Sony employed, I'd say MS clearly had more substance while still not playing all their cards. MS had no choice but to make lots of promises. WIll MS deliver? Heh, I have my doubts.
I was just joking around. C'mon now. I am just not unhappy with the direction as I don't think they are abandoning the future release of FO5. I think FO76 is a creative risk but think it could be fun. I am willing to wait until I play the game to decide whether I like it or not.
MS hasn't changed it's first party problems. How have they changed anything? Did they release games? Their track record is one not to be envied. XBox fans sure get excited over promises.
Sounds like they have a trust issue if they have to talk about this so directly.
How did MS do better? Announcing studio acquisitions? A bunch of multiplat titles shown. Nah, MS did nothing special. They've renewed their vows with gamers? We'll believe it when we actually see it with actual games. The MS marketing hype machine is out in full force. Just smoke and mirrors though.
Assuming that PS5 hardware architecture is still x86 based via an AMD chipset, yes I suspect all PS4 games will be compatible with PS5. This upcoming gen is fundamentally different than Sony moving away from Cell (PS3) and MS moving away from PowerPC (X360). The instruction set of the next gen will be iterative of the current gen so there should be no need for backward compatibility via a virtual machine. I think Sony is gearing up for PS5 and plays a very patient game.
This is just XBox fans trying to pile on to something which means nothing to PS4. They think it differentiates their choice in console for the better. If MS truly had an install and user base as large as Sony's they would not be promoting any such notions.
The purpose of a beta is for testing. It's only on X1 early due to marketing arrangements. When it's all said and done, Bethesda will still sell more copied on PS than on X1. It's only for the beta anyway. The full game release is the same for all platforms.
