I do have both consoles. But frankly, it's not even close. Sony is easily my preferred console. I don't really trust MS with my gaming money as who knows what lurching direction changes they'll make next. They are so inconsistent. I think by and large the marketplace decided that Sony was the choice if you could only have one. It's one thing to get Xbox as a secondary console but not having a PS4 this gen would be a mistake.
EA clearly has a bunch of non-gamer business people trying to glom on to the latest fad. How pathetic.
I wish FIFA and other sports franchise gamers would tell EA to get lost. They charge full price and then tons of MT's for essentially the same game year after year after year. And then EA uses that money to purchase exclusive rights to franchises like Star Wars and screw it up.

There will still be a market for high-end gaming. It's hard to believe a one size fits all strategy is what we are doomed to suffer. We don't have one size fits all automobiles. Yep, I've long since moved on from any thoughts of playing that game. It's a shame too as the first title was decent. The nemesis system was pretty cool. But unfortunately WB tried to capitalize on a bad idea and it destroyed all interest for me.
@StormSnooper Yep I think that's pretty much it. Distract their dwindling user base that it's MS that is really for the gamers. Silly when you think of the mediocre games lineup they have now and nothing really of significance on the horizon. I am not against cross-play but I don't see why Sony should give a leg up to their competitor. As it is I never have problems with finding players in MP games on PS4.
It's selling to people dumping their OG XBox. Many PS4 owners are still happy with their OG PS4 and felt no need to upgrade if they didn't have a 4K set. The X1X is surely better than the OG X1 but it's sales numbers reflect how poorly that orig console was received even by XB fans.

I think it is well understood now that IGN management has very close ties to MS. IGN is useless as a site anyway. MS spends plenty of advertising dollars on their site so IGN carries MS's water. The marketplace has spoken and continues to speak. Sony is the preferred gaming platform for most. Sadly for XB fans they suddenly feel that they have a superior platform because a very small proportion of their install base spent yet another $500 on a second console. Kinda pathetic actually. XB fans got screwed by feeling the need to buy two consoles. Games? Who needs games right XB fans? Battlefield V, Battlefield 1. Whichever. They're basically small iterations of the same type of game. Just milking people's wallets for essentially the same game(s) over and over like the sports franchises.
Thankfully Sony exists. If not for Sony, console gaming would have looked like the OG X1 launch. To MS credit they did pivot off an awful strategy. But Sony is by far and away a much more creative gaming company. Perhaps MS will get there someday but I just don't trust the suits that run MS to not mimic EA and manage their creative talents as a series of what marketing trends to follow today.

Ok I figured nothing was different. I guess 'officially licensed' fools some consumers into thinking you must have that drive versus any other and thus pay that higher cost. I replaced my PS4 internal drive with a hybrid 2 TB drive (Seagate Firecuda). It was money well spend and has worked perfectly.
My understanding is the delays relate more to having the right release window than the state of the game. Everyone is avoiding the RDR2 release window and for good reason.
What is different about officially licensed drives versus one which is not?
Sony is in trouble of losing it's audience by delivering a great platform and great games? Really? Where is everyone gonna go? MS's ecosystem? Don't make me laugh.
This game / creation tool is amazing. If only I were a more creative person. But I am looking forward to see what other talented people create in Dreams.
