I own both an X1x and a Pro. I chose the Pro for RDR2 for the additional content. Sure the X1x is a great console hardware wise but I want to play *all* the content. So higher resolution is not enough of a reason to buy it there. If that's all you have is an XB, then I guess play it there....
I actually held off on buying games recently in anticipation of RDR2. So my plan is to play RDR2 and after that perhaps pickup some other titles which may gon on sale. I still need to play Spidey so that is high on my list after RDR2 whether it's on sale or not.
It often appears that EA and DICE, in this case, showed contempt for much of their devoted player base. Saying essentially, don't like it then don't buy it was the worst thing to say. They should have just said, I'm sorry you disagree with our artistic choices for BFV but I hope you will still considering playing the game for other reasons. I think DICE's hubris more than women characters in the game did more harm to the sales outlook.
LoL. You should get that looked at. /jk I am psyched too.
I think this speaks more to Facebook's inability to sell their VR headset than that VR is dead across the board. Perhaps for the broader vision to which Facebook envisioned it being used for it is not something which they care to invest in right now. I don't think VR goes away at all. It's just a slow burn. Now if Sony and Valve also announced dropping development of their VR headsets then perhaps it would go dormant for a while.
Well I didn't book any time off but I will be playing Friday at some point after work. I can't watch any videos. At this point, I'm just waiting for the game to drop.
@itsmebryan I do think the word is often misused. There is a distinction in vocabulary between bigotry and racism. Often times, including by supposedly educated people in the press, the terms are misused.
I gotta sympathize with you that it would suck to not get the game on time especially if you coordinated time off work to coincide with the release. That stinks. And I love the Costanza reference. :) I pre-ordered through BestBuy for in store pickup. My email still shows for 26 Oct pickup. Finger crossed....
Well I went physical through best buy as I still have the gamer's club discount for another year. 20% discount was hard to pass up. Plus I set up my purchase for in-store pickup so luckily no issues expected. I think the email to users was a mistake on BB's part.
@Prettygoodgamer 2 decades is a long time. I am reluctant to think that far out as 2 decades ago I was just getting cable internet at 512 kbps. Fast forward to today and I can get 1 Gbps fiber. 5G networking's low latency may open up new possibilities. That said, I am not terribly interested in game streaming. I think it could be a generational thing. Kinds just born or not born yet today may like game streaming. But older gamers like me probably not so much.
Same here. I have a 2 TB SSHD. Works great in my Pro. I could have bought this game for my X1x but the additional content on the Pro was something I'd like to play. So went with the Pro. The footage seen so far looks great.
@JackBNimble I agree with you. All these white knights talking about "institutionalized pressure" as if they know. And then others equating to slavery. Really? Slavery? That's quite ignorant to equate long hours to "slavery". I would be interested to hear how many and how often these 100 hour weeks occurred too. If this was a systemic problem, I suspect people would have left the company sooner and this would have been publicized before too. I work in dev and at ti...
24 hours * 7 days = 168 hours
All this white knighting for R* employees. Did anyone read the whole article? This is so overblown it is ridiculous.
Agreed @rainslacker. This faux concern by some people is a bit overblown. R* was quite clear in a follow-up comment that these hours were not typical of the entire staff but only some. And at that not mandated. People who have invested years of their lives in a project feel near and dear to it and want to release something which as much feature completeness with as few bugs as they can. If they chose to work some weeks with crazy long hours then it is no different than any other major soft...
I work in development and long hours are typical of development cycles. The long hours as described by R* were not years on end but a much shorter time period. If I had to work some small number of 100 hour weeks to get the product out then so be it. It doesn't last forever. This type of crunch is not unique to R* nor other software development environments. It is not required of everyone but may be needed for certain leads or managers. Many of the dev and QA staff will earn a much-ne...
@Eonjay I suspect but can't prove that Phil is doing a better job than Don Matrick would have done. Often times corporations change leadership as the existing leadership can often have a hard time walking away from decisions they previously made. MS did a 180 on some aspects of the XB1 platform not long after Phil taking the reigns. I suspect that may not have happened so quickly under Don. Hence why fresh blood which is not wedded to previous decisions can be liberating. I think MS rea...
Yea I hear ya. I was just being cynical. ;) I kinda prefer a game which the rewards feel well earned. My cynicism was more thinking about Eververse and some garbage like that.
Wasn't Don Matrtrick the head of XB division during the 360 era? I'd say that was reasonably successful. Sure they made some bad decisions without a doubt. But a stooge? All businesses need fresh new blood from time to time. Did Phil save XB from certain doom? Well he at least seemingly stopped the bleeding. XB has lost many core customers over the years. That'll hurt going into the next gen. I know many an X360 and X1 owner who bought Playstations and Switch and many continue to...
I was thinking of picking this up. The gameplay looks excellent. I may go for it on my Switch so I can play mobile.
Calls to boycotts CDPR? Yea like that's gonna gain traction. Zero chance I boycott CDPR after all they do to make great games for the public. This constant stream of boycotting starts to fall on deaf ears. After a while, you just become numb to it.
