I do find it frustrating that BGS still relies upon their old engine. Even though they modify the engine some, it clearly is not as capable as other competing game engines. Why have they waited so long to produce a new engine? They keep investing resources and money in this old tech. Throwing good money after bad.
I hope it's good but I am skeptical a bit. I'll wait and see before purchasing. I'm not exactly thrilled I'd have to use the Bethesda launcher on PC either. I'll probably still be playing RDR2 when this launches anyway so it's no rush for day 1 for me.
So we're on the path to having 10 different PC game launchers just to play a game. Ugh. At this point, FO76 is a non-purchase for me on PC or console. Maybe in the future, if it is decent but certainly not day one. I'll still be playing RDR2 when FO76 launches. I'll watch some streams to see if it is worth the money.
Well at least MS is not giving a large overseas market the cold shoulder. Granted their sales there may be abysmal but it takes time to build something. If MS ever wants to compete globally they need to play the long game. Will MS ever surpass Sony in Japan? Unlikely. But you gotta make the effort just the same or else you give a sizeable market to your competitor.
I just want Obsidian to continue making games for PC too. I like Obsidian games and I especially liked FO NV and the Pillars of Eternity series. I prefer them on PC to console though. We'll have to hope MS doesn't meddle too much in Obsidian's creative process.
Why didn't BGS push forward with cross-play for XBox and PC then? It is apparent that BGS was being the good little boy for MS and doing their bidding. Although it may be true that it takes some time to implement and maybe can't be enabled for launch day. Still, BGS has done themselves no favors. If anything they have engendered ill will from many. BGS looked like a child having a temper tantrum. They should have just said they were hopeful and encourage Sony to enable cross-platform ...
@10th Rider yes that is true they are couching this as additive technology. I'm sure cloud providers know it is not a widely popular concept at this time but the control of their revenue stream is intoxicating for them. But it is easy to envision some years from now this replacing console and PC from the platform holder's perspective. Cloud would enable vastly more control over their customer's compared to what exists today. It is why everyone is so skeptical or the long-term pla...
I am still finishing Origins but I am glad to see / hear Odyssey is good. At some point in the future I will play it. But for me this month's gaming purchase is RDR2 so Odyssey will have to wait.
I am going to wait and see on this title. Not ruling it out as a future purchase but certainly not a day one purchase for me. I'll still be playing RDR2 at that time. I don't want to be negative on it just yet but I am skeptical.
Perhaps years from now with fully implemented 5G cellular networking. But that is a ways off (if ever) of full coverage. Every company is trying to push the envelope to stay ahead of the curve. For example, MS faltered with mobile technology early so the players are essentially Android and IOS. MS doesn't want to be late on gaming. But still, I think it is way premature to be thinking any of these technologies supplant traditional PC and console any time soon.
I read that headline and just laughed. Granted I wasn't about to click on the link to give them any ad revenue. But at least they gave me a good free laugh.
I also own both a Pro and an X1x. I prefer the Pro as it's game lineup is superb. I think the X1x is a good piece of hardware, but I don't buy consoles to look at the hardware. I trust Sony to continue making and encouraging creative studios to experiment and move the medium to great new heights. MS is doing some good things but it'll be some years before we see any payoff in new studios. Hopefully, they let their new studio acquisitions be creative and not meddle too much.
MS will have a tough time as so many gamers have invested their money in a current gen Sony games lineup and many of their gaming friends are on PSN now. With expected backward compatibility, a sizeable investment already made, and relationships already established on one platform, it is a real uphill battle for MS. Let alone they don't exactly have a sterling reputation anymore for producing exclusive content. But that said, Sony needs to continue to deliver the goods. If they do, many ...
I still use Best Buy as my Gamer's club is still valid through Nov 2019. It's been great to get $60 (US) retail games for $47.00 for going on 4 years now. What I will do after GC expires in a year I do not know yet.
I own both a Pro and an X1x. Already ordered RDR2 for the Pro. Happy for my XB friends but can't see why I'd play this on XB when there is more game content on PS4.
Don't confuse MS corp with just it's Xbox division. All MS division's revenue streams are not dedicated to improving Xbox. That's like saying General Electric's aircraft engine division is responsible for their light bulb division. They are managed as separate companies within the corporation. Sony also sells entertainment products, commercial broadcasting equipment etc. I think the only person here who is delusional might be you.
You can always count on IGN to deliver a high review score if you're an important advertiser.
I think SoD2 is what the first game should have been. Better engine and less jenky. Seeing as I did not really play the first one but as a free test before SoD2 was released, I find SoD2 okay. But had I played the first game fully, I can see that the sequel probably doesn't offer a vastly different experience other than somewhat more polished.
Just like Destiny? Great! What could possibly go wrong? /s jk... I hope it's good. We'll see next year.
