Well to be fair, inflation is very low in the U.S. And generally, electronics get cheaper not more expensive. The manufacturers cost tend to go down over time to manufacture the same thing. As for new technology, always expect to pay a premium as an early adopter.
I dunno if it will flop. Too early to say. But EA is EA. I did watch the most recent stream. It reminds me of Destiny. Perhaps this game will become known as Anthiny. Not that I am against a shared world looter-shooter, as I still play Destiny 2 . But I'll wait and see what the word is on this after launch. No way a Day One purchase for me.

Yep I agree. Buyer beware. As you said there is no need to purchase games Day One. Watching streams, YT vids, reviews, and word of mouth from a friends can save you money. Ambulance chasing lawyers. I'll not participate in some garbage lawsuit despite the fact that I think BGS has released a subpar product at this point.
I'd probably say nobody wants this game at the expense of ever having a proper SP Fallout game. Frankly, I'd prefer to have a proper SP game, like RDR2, with MP also baked into the game in a different mode. I own the game. I am willing to see what BGS can do to improve the game. Perhaps they can turn it around like Ubi did with Rainbowsix Seige or The Div. At least make it the best it can be. If someone doesn't like MP well there is no fixing that.

Sadly, per Blizzard's own words they have some of their best developers working on mobile. I guess some of the developers want to do this. I think Bethesda Game Studios could use new creative leadership. They take no risks and are producing some really lackluster products. Other studios have surpassed them and about to lap them. It's sad to see BGS fail so fard but perhaps with failure comes a new beginning.
How is Sony lazy or overconfident? That's wishful thinking on some XBoxer's part. Sony is still killing it and has such a stable of devs and now a huge player base. MS may do better but not better than Sony next gen. I'll own both consoles but Sony is not going to get bested by MS. MS will find it difficult to make up ground. Nobody is going to drop Sony's platform. Maybe add MS but not drop Sony in doing so.

The existence of FO76 does not damage the ability to have a FO5 someday. Sure it's an MP game with up to 24 players on a map. Is the story weak? I don't know yet. The admin comment that this is for new subscribers only is not accurate. I have been a gamepass subscriber previously. The sub lapsed. I was able to purchase the 1 month sub for $1 even though I had previously been a subscriber.
MS marketing and their inferiority complex a couple years ago caused them to way over promise. They set the bar unrealistically high to generate hype for their console. Will this meet expectations? Doubtful.
It is notable that the article speaks to the freemium market popularized by TenCent and the loot box model of transactions. I am not a huge fan of overreaching government regulation nor do I care for microtransaction laden games. It's great IF the new 1st party studios are given the creative freedom which Sony 1st party has and that they don't create some giant Loot Box laden, heavy microtransaction games. Sony 1st party studios have done well not to create games in the vain of EA or Ubisoft with such monetization content. I am glad to see MS investing in gaming but watching to see what they really produce. Cautiously optimistic.
