I am skeptical as well that they will dial up the extra monetization up way too high. I think it's not a great idea to offer early access to content if you're a season pass holder or have to pay for more inventory space. I played the closed alpha. The gunplay and npc AI was very good. It's not the gunplay which is in question. It's all the surrounding monetization which Ubi milks which I am skeptical of. INo pre-order for me and probably not day 1 purchase. A wait and see.

It's a wait and see for me. No day 1 purchase till I see what the word on the street is.

@mikeslemonade Are you referring to me? I'll have to assume your comment was directed at above comments.I own a 1080Ti Strix in my gaming rig. I'm just saying I think it's fair to say AMD may present a better value compared to the most recent nVidia (20x0) card's price points. But perhaps will be good to see some actual data from Tomshardware or Anand.

I don't think AMD > nVidia. But I think AMD may be a better value (price for performance wise).

I do think Valve must have some concern. I like Steam but I am not loyal to it as it is basically a launcher for me. I don't like having multiple launchers for every publisher but that is not going to change. In the long run, publishers don't want to pay Valve upwards of 30% to sell their game. Having an additional launcher run when I play a specific title is mildly annoying but that is not new. I just close launchers when not in use. I have 32GB RAM in my PC so I barely notice when ...

I agree the headline is a bit misleading. The first sentence in the article states, "Nintendo was the UK's biggest publisher of physical games in December". Perhaps that would have made a more accurate title. Nintendo as a platform holder did not dominate that market.

@WickedLester Yes I agree mobile is not my preferred platform. A few things I find terrible about mobile, 1. the rampant f2p model with "in-your-face MTs everywhere. 2. The awful control scheme of onscreen buttons. 3. For me, the screen is just too small for long duration gaming sessions.

I do worry that traditional gaming companies are being influenced strongly by the mobile casual crowd.

Should be simple for the publisher to hire some original choreographers to compose unique dances for the game. Copyright those new dances and drop the dances they used. It's probably cheaper to make new dances than pay someone else. Granted if the dance is not copyrighted then you can use it and apply for a copyright on it yourself. The application date for copyright is important in legal cases.

I hope the game is good. I imagine IGN will give it an 8 or better regardless. They are essentially a business partner of MS. That's how they get all these first look deals with publishers. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. But that said, I hope the game exceeds my expectations.

@Gaming101 Yup I agree that companies rush to get their product on the market for the holiday shopping rush. FO7 is another example of this. Parent's will buy titles having no idea a game is half-baked and publishers know this. They really don't care about quality but rather short-term profits. And yes I agree DICE didn't help matters with their sjw take on the game. They've clearly tried to tone that down since that happened but the damage was done. A delayed BR mode had lit...

Can one actually copyright a dance? How do you 'own' the rights to a dance?

After actually reading the aticle, I agree this points to a reddit megathread whereby a dev stated loot typically obtained from end-game content could be obtained through other non end-game sources albeit rare. So this particular article doesn't speak to loot boxes at all.

I doubt they will have random loot boxes in Anthem. But I do think the game will have extensive microtransactions. Hopefully said MT's are relegated to cosmetic items only and not experience bo...

How is it really different than any retail business? Retailers at store markup prices from wholesalers who in turn marked up the price from the manufacturer. The price charged for a game is not necessarily the unit cost to make the game for the developer or publisher. It does cost Valve money to host the infrastructure to distribute the game and the advertising they do. Perhaps 30% is high, but the studios consent to the deal. Granted they might think the cost is high, but that is why competi...

With all the system performance improvement I've had over the years, it's amazing we even need a PS5. Just keep patching in system performance improvements. It's like a free upgrade. /s

Sigh...

Knee jerk reaction? Gimme a break. Moral relativism at it's finest.

Socialism is an economic principle. The article speaks to an ethics board making these recommendations which is not economic principle. The end of the article also states this is unconfirmed as it was translated from a Reddit post. I seriously wonder if this will be implemented, enforced, or is even true.

If true though...

I'd only call it a comeback if you mean MS stopped the bleeding. Holy 180's Batman. Their launch was as disastrous as it gets. MS lost many players to Sony. I own both systems but if I could only own one it would have to be the PS4.

Part of this is a generational divide too. Some young gamers who began gaming with mobile are comfortable with this MT laden business model. People don't think twice about spending very small amounts of cash such as $1 or $5. Whereas $60 or more people think twice about that purchase. Ultimately often times people spend more than $60 for a game but do it in very small chunks and don't notice it. The gaming marketplace sure has changed. Lots more non-traditional gamers out there now t...

My understanding currently is this is Epic games store specific which is not associated with either console but rather a PC storefront. So my guess is no.
