I wouldn't be surprised if some of these opinion pieces are written by people in the EA Game Changers program. That appears to be an early access program for content creators who only write positive pieces about a product. They are influenced by the ability to have early access and little trips to EA for recording content before others. I agree that using the term journalist these days is often times inaccurate.
I think a perma-ban is too heavy-handed. You should not fault customers for the exploits. It's the responsibility of the studio to patch exploits and bugs. I can only imagine exploits which give an advantage to a player to earn in-game currency thus avoiding their microtransaction real-world money store is what they are worried about. Perma-bans are a bad idea. I can see a perma-ban for hacking a game or some activity which is directly detrimental to service availability. But for exploiti...
I played the demo both weekends. It was meh. I'll wait 6 months or more before considering this game. Of the streams and videos I've seen this past week, I had expected more variety of content from Bioware.
What is troublesome about services like Gamepass to me is that you are at the mercy of MS for the cost of the subscription. So sure it's $10 today but who's to say 3 years from now it couldn't be double or triple that? Look what Amazon used to charge for Prime? Used to be ~$60. It's easily double that now. GaaS and subscription services are not the panacea for consumers some would think it is. It is attractive to people who only consider monthly payments for things versus wh...
So basically most of the YT'ers who are part of the GameChangers program are paid shills? How sad. They're basically streamers and YT'ers paid by EA to promote their games whether the games are good or not. Do these people disclose they are part of this program? If not, they sure should be.
I am sure the delay from the initial release date was put to good use too. I'll bet they have been bug fixing and tweaking for months. I for one am looking forward to this game.
I don't own any VR system yet but I applaud Sony for making a system. It has pushed the medium further forward to consumers than any other. Will VR replace traditional monitor / tv gaming? Not anytime soon. But at least Sony has the guts to invest and produce hardware and software which is within reach of many consumers. PSVR is a stepping stone. Keep taking some calculated risks Sony. Your creative wisdom will pay off in the long run.
N4G is just a reflection of the market place. More people, by a large margin, chose Sony PS4 over MS. So in line with that, the opinions expressed tend to track that way. It's not specific to N4G. It mirrors the market. As for future competition, who knows. I am not a huge game streaming fan but perhaps kids yet to be born will be. Just not my wish to have my game library exist in the cloud.
I think the ban was for knowingly exploiting a bug in the game not specifically for acquiring ammo through normal gameplay. But still, Bethesda should not be banning someone for an exploit their programmers and QA group let be released. A bit heavy-handed if you ask me.
Who buys such things with real-world money? Is this the same people who used to pay for ringtones? An Armor Pack for 850 Shards? Does that equate to 1 penny per shard? What a waste of money.
Their loss is our gain. I hope Bungie can continue to improve the game.
I agree Bethesda has made some great games. I also agree it is good to experiment and move outside of your comfort zone. However, it seems Bethesda did a poor job with FO76 so far. Could it be improved? Possibly. But the game has many issues both design and bugs which severely hamper the game. For example, No NPCs in the game sure feels like a design flaw. And the amount and frequency of bugs are not befitting of a AAA studio. They should have baked the game longer and focus group tested l...
Wow. If that's the power of MS cloud.... their cloud must be terrible. What a downgrade. Can you imagine how few people would play this game if it were not on GamePass? If the game is not ready then just don't release it. Better than over promising and under delivering.
I'm not so sure 30% is too steep a cut for Valve in all cases when often times because of Steam's ubiquitous install base these studios reach more consumers than they would anywhere else. Regardless, competition from EPIC is ok if done in a manner which is not seeking to create a new monopoly by paying studios to *not* publish their game also on Steam. What I really dislike about the EPIC store is that there are no user reviews currently and they are adopting an opt-in review system f...
Leave it to a politician to think taxing something will solve the problem. Cloak the tax in some altruistic goal when in reality it's just money for politicians to spend on some pork barrel project. How do we measure the success of the tax? If it proves ineffective is the tax law removed? I doubt it. What about violent movies and tv shows? Do we need to tax those too? As the saying goes, "Why did the thief rob the bank? Cuz that's where the money is". Politicians just lookin...
I have decided as well to just stick with Destiny 2 as my looter shooter. No time in my life for 2 such games and frankly it's too early to know if Anthem is really better. Hopefully, now that Bungie is free from the influence of Activision, they can better pursue their vision for the game. And frankly, Destiny 2's shooting is far superior to Anthem's IMO.
EA is MTx hyper-focused. As the saying goes, "When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail". I just have to stay away from EA titles. As a publisher, they are a terrible influence on the gaming market.
I played both weekends of the Anthem demo. Based on that it will not be a day 1 purchase for me. Maybe later in the future but not right away. Too many unknowns. I want Bioware to be successful but sure wish they could be separate from EA.
Reminds me of the saying, 'The beatings will continue till morale improves'.
GaaS.....smh
