Pandas ARE disgustingly cute.
however, i'd much rather have a giant cat/bird/griffon thing to explore an amazingly atmospheric fantasy setting with. DAMN i love Team Ico.
wait, what were we talking about again?
on my 360 and it was really good, but $15 for a 2 year old port?
i was actually shocked when i checked the PSN and saw that Scott Pilgrim vs the World was $9.99. that game is fricking AWESOME. i actually enjoy it more than Castle Crashers, but mostly due to that old school aesthetic that tickles my nostalgia bone. i actually thought it'd be priced at $14.99, so i budgeted accordingly. since it was only $9.99, i spent the extra $4.99 on some Dragon Age DLC for my wife. loo...
really cool.
i love the setting.
i never played Bioshock 2, but i loved the first one.
i wonder if they are going to cut MP to focus on single player, since people clamored for multi-player for Bioshock 2, making the developer split resources to include the mode, then didn't play it. no one even TALKS about Bioshock 2 MP these days.
i'd rather have Irrational focus on a strong single player campaign like the first Bio...
1) Demos are produced as a separate entity from the final product. they have to be coded, then tested.
i know this because i remember back when i worked at Obsidian, we had to test the E3 demo build, which put off testing of the retail build. other companies work in a similar fashion. a demo is like a mini-project within the full project. staff needs to be set aside to code and test it. it's not a simple copy-paste job.
2) Demo's also have to be certi...
completely accept that even though the series is called Final Fantasy, each game takes place in a different world, with new characters and story, and with rather loose ties to the previous games (ie, returning character names like Cid, or Moogles, Chocobos/etc).
but with Chrono Cross, which only shares the "Chrono" part of the title, takes place in a different world, with new characters and story, and with rather loose ties to the previous games, and people went ape...
i downloaded the demo and thought the game looked fine visually (i don't get hung up on things like missing grass), but my issue is with the game play, not the graphics.
i just didn't find the game compelling or fun to play, and i'm a HUGE fan of GTA style games and the Mafia setting.
i didn't think the camera was well designed while indoors, and the controls didn't feel too hot. the camera felt too loose, even when i lowered the sensitivi...
either Resistance or Killzone.
the worlds are vastly different.
the game play is vastly different.
the level design is vastly different.
the weapons are vastly different.
they are different franchises, with different goals, despite being in the same genre. not everyone loves Killzone. not everyone loves Resistance. fortunately, Sony's developers recognize this, and they encourage variety in their franchises, even within the same ge...
a lot about how this site is full of PS3 fanboys, but the stories that get approved faster than any other story are the ones trashing the PS3.
seems kind of counterproductive to the PS3 fanboys "polluting" this site.
anyway, i've been fortunate in that i haven't had any issues with PS3 firmware updates so far. it's unfortunate that some people's console have reacted negatively to the updates. they don't even take a very long time...
most entertaining advertising tools i've seen in a long time.
people act like we don't know he's just a marketing creation. of COURSE he is, but he's funny, and it really humanizes Sony to have a character that can laugh with us about them when we're laughing at them.
i think Sony really hit a chord with consumers with this character. for them, that's the most important thing: reaching consumers and pushing PlayStation products at them...
i'd love it if they put Parasite Eve 2 on there, though. i've never played it.
but that's what makes the PlayStation consoles so awesome: variety.
i'm sure many a gamer could easily substitute a handful of games on that list for equally excellent games.
notable omissions:
3D Dot Game Heroes
Valkyria Chronicles
Little Big Planet
Killzone 2
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Heavenly Sword
Folklore
Resistance: Fall of Man
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools o...
in the gaming industry, and i've had to unlock trophies/achievements, literally, hundreds of time, on a daily basis, over the course of many months that the appeal of them has worn off.
there are very few games i bother to try and platinum (i only have 5 plats: Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2, inFAMOUS, Ratchet and Clank Future: ACIT, and God of War 3). it absolutely drives me INSANE that my nice 100% Uncharted 2 clear is now sitting at 73% because i don't play online, and h...

the PSP has been on the market for over 5 years now.
it's lived a full life cycle, and if it dies now, it's nothing out of the ordinary.
it's had a successful run, and it did what many people thought was impossible: it managed to become a viable handheld in a market completely DOMINATED by Nintendo.
EVERY handheld that has come up against a Nintendo handheld has failed.
do you know what the highest selling competi...
i'm on the fence about Mafia 2, even though i played it at E3 and it was pretty solid. i love the setting, but i don't know if i'm ready for another open world game yet after getting GTA: Liberty City Stories and Red Dead Redemption.
at the least, i'll be picking up Pilgrim and Shank. fun, cheap games.
me and my wife are LOVING Deathspank. surprisingly fun and funny. these downloadable titles have matured a lot since the start of this gen. it&...
and can nobody put two and two together?
here's some pieces:
1) Resistance 3 rumors have been kicking around for a while now.
2) Sony delays the release of SOCOM 4, a 3rd person shooter, until next year.
3) Killzone 3, their headline shooter is, releasing early 2011.
4) The Insomniac Newsletter just hit my email and it basically says "Hey, we're getting ready to announce our PS3 title between now and PAX. and at our PAX pa...
this same exact thing was said about Bioshock 2.
which nobody plays.
i don't care if Sucker Punch implements MP in inFAMOUS 2, as long as it doesn't detract from the single player experience.
i LOVE Uncharted 2, and i think the MP is fun and enjoyable, but i NEVER touch it these days. the reason why i'm an Uncharted fan is because of the single player. same with inFAMOUS.
i don't think every game needs MP, but...
disagreer, but i work at Konami, and you don't, and Kojima dropped by our offices yesterday evening. which is a rare thing (he doesn't visit the California offices often).
i'm going to see if i can arrange a photo op with him if he stops by again, but they are VERY strict about etiquette when Kojima and other higher ups are involved.
today when Kojima came into our offices to have a look around.
i was working, so i didn't even notice him standing, literally, two fricking feet BEHIND ME!
hopefully he'll stop back by and i can have him sign my MGS4 Limited Edition. the guys are still geeking out over his surprise visit.
the reason why the PlayStation brand is loved so much is because of the sheer selection of quality software that caters to ALL audiences, not just one demographic.
Microsoft has shown with the Xbox and Xbox 360 that all they care about is that 14-25 male demographic that loves online multiplayer (particularly shooters) above all else.
this generation they tried a little bit to snag some of the PS2 fanbase by getting some JRPGs and a few action games, but by a...
