i think my real problem with Crysis (and a lot of games, honestly), is that the environments, while sporting excellent detail in textures, lack any sort of atmosphere.
look at the Killzone 3 (and 2, honestly) vids; you have all sorts of atmospheric effects going on at the same time as all the gunplay. snow, wind, debris, dust, etc, objects moving and swaying in the background. the world feels alive, and not like a map in a game of multi-player.

Ready at Dawn took over the Heavenly Sword franchise after Ghost of Sparta. they've shown that they are incredibly talented developer when creating PSP games that fell as epic as their console counterparts. Their stories and writing in the God of War games were fantastic.
Give them Heavenly Sword 2, and i truly believe that series will become another tentpole franchise for the PlayStation, especially with God of War 3 having wrapped up Kratos' story for the forseeable...
but my PS3 is backwards compatible, so i not only get all the PS3 and PS1 game functionality, but PS2 game functionality. therefore, i think the PS3 is the best gaming console ever made. i have 15 years of some of the best gaming in the industry in one machine. and i'm now getting HD remakes of some of my favorites (God of War, Sly Cooper, Prince of Persia, Beyond Good and Evil, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, etc).

and i'm really enjoying it. i haven't gotten into a Halo game since the original, but this one is really good. i find the story interesting, and the game play is, well, Halo. i'm tempted to say it's the best Halo SINCE Halo 1, but please keep in mind i'm only half way through the game (i've been juggling Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Halo Reach for the past week).

like not being able to heal limbs unless with a doctor, stimpacks don't immediately restore health, ammunition has weight, you have to stay hydrated. all of those things are dealbreakers for my wife specifically. she doesn't have the patience or desire to play a game like that.
