i just came in here to say that these comparisons NEVER look like how the games look on my TV, on either my 360 OR my PS3.
i don't get it. maybe it's the way i have my TVs calibrated (i have two HDTVS, the PS3 hooked up to one, the 360 hooked up to the other).
the screens in these comparisons never look as sharp and clear as my TV. NEVER. and that goes for ALL comparisons i've seen over the years.
anyway, the demo of the Force Unl...
as a long time MGS fan, i found MGS4 an amazing game AND wrap up of a storyline that was, literally, 20 years in the making.
Kojima is an incredibly talented developer, but he's human. MGS was HIS story, and as such, it's imperfect. some of the narrative stumbled, but overall, the story of Snake's "final" mission was handled with more pathos than groan inducing segments.
i'm a fan of the "Kojimaisms" that run rampant in the...
and reviewers couldn't keep themselves from slapping 8/10 and less scores to PS3 exclusives because they "didn't justify the high price of the console," and the fanboys ran with it.
an 8/10 score is a GREAT score.
but for me, the only score that matters is the one i give the game when i sit down and play it. this generation of consoles has been enough to convince me that reviews are pointless. either the review is nitpicking the game to low ...
could be just as fast and frantic as a 2D action game.
God of War came and showed that you could combine that fast action with a strong narrative.
as for Castlevania, i'm sick of hearing it compared to God of War.
i'm not very far in the game (i'm near to completing chapter 1), but from my experience, it has a very different feel, even combat wise, from the GoW series.
the format and structure of the narrative is ...
oh, don't get me wrong, i fricking LOVE Killzone 2. i think it's probably the most impressive FPS title on consoles to this day, and 3 is looking amazing as well.
what i mean by i had more fun, i just really enjoyed the fantasy weapons of Resistance 1 and 2. i loved the gritty, weighty feel of Killzone 2. i love them both for different reasons, but i really enjoyed the feel of Resistance 2's controls.
i hate to make the comparison, but when it com...
i never beat Alundra, and i've never played Arc the Lad. will snag them both Tuesday if i can.
amazing titles to just narrow it down to 7. you could make up another list of 7 without having a single one of the titles in that 7:
1) God of War 3
2) Shadow of the Colossus
3) Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal (can also be swapped out for A Crack In Time)
4) Final Fantasy VII (or IX)
5) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Or Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)
6) Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
7) Demon's Souls (o...
so far, it's the forerunner for actually convincing me to get PlayStation MOVE.
i've been waiting for a game featuring Jak, Sly, and Ratchet for a console generation now. i'm keeping my eye on this one.
although, am i the only one kind of wishing that Ratchet and Clank: All for One was Heroes on the Move, instead (that is, that the game play of All 4 One, was the game play of Heroes on the Move?)?
but this is the most uninformative article i've seen.
yes, it's good to know that there is a potential fatal error that erases your game save.
what's MORE important, is HOW it happens.
were gamers just quitting out to the XMB, without waiting for the Auto-Save icon to go away?
most games are rigorously tested for Save/Load related bug issues, because they are usually TRG issues (Technical Requirements Guidelines) ...
i refuse to jump on the bandwagon of people thinking it was such a disappointment.
compared to the other FPSes out at the time (not counting Killzone 2), the single player campaign was lengthy and large in scope, the weapons were fun to use, the graphics were polished, and didn't rely on trying to mimic what other FPS titles were doing visually, and the story was intriguing (couple the story with the intel documents you find scattered throughout the game, and Resistance h...
back when single player campaigns in FPS games weren't a 5 hour afterthought.
i LOVED the MoH series, with the original and Frontline being my favorites. European Assault wasn't too bad co-op either.
i may get this new one, if anything, just for the remake of Frontline.
than endure countless stories on N4G about how LBP 2 "failed" to sell a bagillion units because of Gran Turismo 5.
in all seriousness, i don't mind that MM wants to polish their game and not patch it to death like many other games.
some games are glitchy and buggy as hell, but get free passes (see: Fallout 3), but some games (mostly PS3 exclusives), can have issues that get patched relatively soon, and get reamed for it (see: SOCOM: Confrontatio...
i barely touched the MP though (i was in the beta, and loved it, but by the time the game hit, i sort of had my fill of MP, and just wanted to enjoy the SP. which i did).
Killzone 2 had a fantastic SP campaign. the only negative i have is that it didn't have the variety of the original.
if only Killzone 3 came with an HD remake of the original Killzone, running at a locked framerate, with graphical issues like pop-in removed, on the same BR disc.
...
and criminally under-appreciated game that was torn to shreds by a gaming media that had an axe to grind with the PS3 and Sony. i will defend Heavenly Sword to the end.
what i WON'T defend, though, is Ninja Theory's poor decisions when it comes to how they handle the PR for Enslaved.
i'll get Enslaved eventually, but due to my limited dollars, Castlevania got my money this week, and Fallout: New Vegas is my last purchase for the year, since LBP2 a...
i actually started replaying the Trilogy about two months ago, but now i'll just hold off until this hits.
i'm really enjoying these HD remakes.
playing God of War Collection was like playing GoW1 and 2 with rose colored glasses on. i could have SWORE that the game looked that good back when i was playing it on my 19" SDTV. lol.
i'm eagerly awaiting Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and Beyond Good & Evil; three of my favor...
of one fraction of a mission early in the game.
it's not the game's fault that most of the folks doing these videos are reporters that don't actually play video games.
that's my biggest issue with a lot of the media allowed to go to gaming events: most of them are just journalists, with no gaming background. the few journalists that ARE gamers are usually so wrapped up in their own personal bias that they can't report the news without addi...
of last generation, and it's an absolute travesty that it didn't sell.
I mean, 50 Cent: Bulletproof sold over 1 million copies. BG&E didn't even crack 300,000 if I remember correctly.
The story, characters, and game play was so fresh and engaging. I originally had the Gamecube version, but when I got rid of my Gamecube, I got the PS2 version.
I had actually just recently started replaying it on my PS3, but now I'll just ho...
it's been like this for DECADES: exclusives tend to showcase a platforms power better than multi-platform titles.
i mean, since way back in the day. the best looking SNES games were often exclusives (Pilotwings, Star Fox, Super Mario World, Super Castlevania IV, etc).
the best looking Genesis games were often exclusive (Sonic the Hedgehog, Vector Man, Toe Jam and Earl, etc).
this isn't a new development due to this generation.
...
will more than likely go down as one of Sony's BEST decisions this entire generation.
Next up: buy Quantic Dream and Sucker Punch. Seriously, Sony, get on it.
I think it goes without saying that Sony has a stable of some of the best developers in the industry.
As a long time PlayStation gamer, I can say that they've come a long way since the PS1 days in terms of building a strong 1st and 2nd party development community.
since video games first appeared in the late 70's, and they continue to matter now.
i mean, sure, we could all go back to this:

but WHY, when we can get this:
