am i the ONLY person that finds the fact that Luke Smith, a former game reviewer for 1up, managed to snag a position at Bungie, a company he never failed to suck up to at 1up, just a little, i don't know...OFF?

it just always rubbed me the wrong way.

i mean, i'm all for someone finding the career that makes them happy, but it just always seemed like a conflict of interest.

then again, i guess if i managed to snag a job at Naughty Dog ...

i disagree with CVG's assertion that Empire City was "New York."

it felt NOTHING like New York to me in any way, shape, or form.

now, GTAIV's Liberty City felt very much like New York.

i don't think Empire City felt much like any particular real world city, and maybe that was one of it's problems. it didn't feel like it was cribbing from an existing city, but it didn't particularly craft it's own identity...

my question is, why wasn't Demon's Souls marked down for not appealing to casuals? that game is the most casual unfriendly game in the market, but reviewers were like, "the game is refreshingly difficult and challenging!"

yet the same isn't said for Gran Turismo? a FRANCHISE, mind you, that has NEVER been about appeasing casuals or making driving a car "easy." in fact, i don't think Polyphony Digital really set out to make it "difficul...

in my opinion, the score isn't the issue with the Gran Turismo review.

the issue is in the completely false information contained within the actual IMPORTANT part of a review: the TEXT.

some of the reviewers, IGN being chief among them, are making false claims about the content of the game. claims about poor AI and no damage. over the past few days, some of these claims are being proven to be false, implying, rather strongly, that IGN has NOT played more ...

i'm glad i'm not the only person who noticed two things about this video:

first: The Rock's arms are fricking HUGE!! me and my wife were like, "Oh my GOD!" (my wife a little more excited than me...>:(

second: He looks like Kratos. lol. if his acting has gotten better over the years, then i would totally support him being Kratos. i also really like David Jaffe's choice of Djmon Honsou, but The Rock has the build for sure. The Goate...

this isn't really an irresolvable debate though.

people need to stop treating both as separate entities.

tell me, what's more important in a film? the sound, or the picture? silent movies were prevalent until the inclusion of sound, but how many silent films are being produced today?

when technology evolves, it only makes sense to utilize that technology to serve the product.

video games are no different. it's a ...

i'm glad this tactic of reviewers (not just IGN), has been exposed, and in a clever way, albeit unintentionally.

i'm pretty sure Kaz and Polyphony didn't set out to prove that reviewers are full of shit with this damage system. i'm positive they implemented it this way because, as many have said before, it helps ease gamers into the game's difficulty, but also rewarding skilled players with more challenge as they progress.

what other raci...

the whole, "reviews are just opinion" thing can only go so far.

for example; i'm not a fan of sports. in fact, i seriously HATE them. i don't find any worth or merit in them.

i could write a review about Madden, or NBA 2K11, but why the flying FUCK would ANYONE take that review seriously?

hey, it's my OPINION that sports suck, so lets just accept my shitty review? that's ridiculous.

i stick to writin...

i don't have GT5, but i was playing the PSP Gran Turismo last night, and i have to say, the game is growing on me.

i was getting frustrated, because i was genuinely SUCKING at the game. i was trying to play it like i've played countless racers in the past, and it was PISSING ME OFF.

finally, while doing some of the challenge races, i started actually DRIVING like the game was informing me to drive: sticking to the race lines, breaking when it said, a...

i bought Prototype, and i think it suffers from a few things all it's own without having to compare it to inFAMOUS:

1) Published by Activision. That alone is a blow to any potential the franchise has. If Prototype 2 is made, and happens to improve over the original and becomes a franchise, expect Prototype 3 is 2012, 4 in 2013, 5 in 2014, 6 in 2015, etc, and then expect the franchise to branch off to every platform under the sun (think 3DS, iPhone/Pad, PSP/PSP2, etc, etc)...

people hated on Final Fantasy XIII because it was the cool thing to do at the time.

personally, i'm really enjoying it. i'm in Chapter 11 right now, and i've had a blast. instead of nitpicking the game to death, why not highlight the MANY things it does RIGHT that helps progress the JRPG genre in really useful ways:

1) Healing after every battle: This is so much full of win I can't see why people would bitch about it. I have ALWAYS hated the f...

if you want to crash a car, play Burnout. that series has turned car crashes into an ART FORM.

if you want to play a REAL driving simulator, with consequences for your shit driving, you play Gran Turismo.

it boggles my mind that people are going into GT5 with the notion that it must somehow be an arcadey racer like NFS or Burnout, when GT has ALWAYS been about recreating the DRIVING experience. not the crashing experience. not the custom paint job experience....

the scores of GT 5 aren't what's bothering me. what's bothering me is the fact that GT 5 features:

game play modes:

GT Life:
License Test
A-Spec
B-Spec
Special Events:
Gran Turismo Karting Experience

that last one is excellent Shadowflare, although the second is real good too. the first only suffers from a bit of blurriness.

i'm not a racing game type guy, but i've been loving the neogaf thread with people posting their pictures. some of them are truly mindblowing. here's the link, if interested: http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

i tend to always choose female avatars, and ME2 wasn't any different.

besides, my female Shepherd from Mass Effect 1 is, without a doubt, the hottest Shepherd in Mass Effect history. she is GORGEOUS.

also, i HATED the voice of the male Shepherd. it just grated on my nerves, and never fit the character i'd make. i made my male Shepherd black (as i'm a black male, myself), and he not only looked terrible, but he sounded like a bitch.

As I've stated numerous times before, I used to work for Activision, and the amount of effort the various developers put into the PS3 versions of games pales in comparison to the effort put into the 360 version.

my prime example of this is when our team was doing memory tests for a game released last year, and the 360 was using all 512MB of RAM for the game. the PS3 was only using 256MB, and 1 of the 6 available SPUs.

and the developers had the nerve to b...

i already have an Xbox 360. and no, the problem ISN'T solved, because the Gamebryo engine is shit no matter WHAT platform you are playing it on. yes, it runs better on the PC, but it's outdated, old engine that needs to have a serious overhaul if Bethesda wants console gamers to put up with their titles.

PC gamers may be willing to give developers like Bethesda a free pass for buggy, poorly optimized games, but in the console world, console gamers are used to having g...

i'll be snagging Killzone 2 for $10 and Fable 3 for $35 at Amazon on Friday.

i also have a $15 credit, so i should be able to get both for $30. not too shabby. hopefully i'll be able to get them. i already have Fable 3 in my cart, just need to add Killzone and wait for the prices to drop.

i'll get excited when they confirm that they are using an all new engine optimized for consoles.

Oblivion ran pretty poorly on my PS3.

Fallout 3 killed my PS3.

Fallout: New Vegas killed my second PS3.

i'm not willing to give Bethesda any more of my support until they create a GOOD, up to date console engine.

i enjoyed Oblivion. i'd LIKE to be excited about this new one. i'm cautiously optimist...

he's worthless.

write respectable game coverage, Jim, and maybe the folks on N4G, and, even your peers, will respect you.

here's a Protip, Jim: NO ONE LIKES YOU, BECAUSE YOU ARE A HACK DOUCHE WRITER FOR A SHIT WEB SITE.
