I played this at E3 this year, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I played it on the PS3, and the controls felt smooth and responsive enough. Combat was a lot of fun.
The only gripes I had I simply chalked up to being so early in development (graphical glitches, lag, etc).
I walked away thoroughly impressed with it. I just really dislike that it's a pay to play setup. I'd have preferred free to play, with some paid features if you wanted th...
double post.
these are the games i bought this year:
Xbox 360:
Mass Effect 2
Alan Wake
Fable 3
i eventually got Fallout: New Vegas for the 360 when my PS3 died, and my wife REALLY wanted to play New Vegas.
PlayStation 3:
White Knight Chronicles*
Heavy Rain*
God of War 3*
Final Fantasy XIII
3D Dot Game Heroes*
Red Dead Redemption
Fallout: New Vegas
Castlevania:...
the funniest thing about this whole situation is that there were a LOT of people back in the day that just DID NOT see this coming.
longtime PlayStation fans that bought PS3's year one knows how Sony does things. the first year of a PlayStation console is often slow. the developers are getting their feet wet, learning the console architecture.
year two begins to open up, showing off a bit of the potential of a the system in a few key games (Final Fantasy ...
even though this article is incredibly stupid, i only have one thing to say: Chrono Trigger.
even to this day, it still has one of the best stories in video games. i'd love to see an HD Update (just upping the visuals to look more like Akira Toriyama's awesome artwork, but not changing the story or game play ONE BIT).
the characters, plot, and game play are what got me heavy into RPGs (until Chrono Trigger, i had been a "light" rpg player, n...
I have my faith in God and Jesus, but no, I don't think that Jesus is the only way to lead a good, happy life.
I don't need rules in a book to dictate why I'm a good person.
I also don't feel like I should be "bribed" into doing good things by being told I'll have rewards in heaven.
How about I just be a good man because I'm a good man?
The main tenants of Christianity beyond believing in God...
as a Christian myself, i have to say that i think a lot of the problems with the religion stem from certain organizations using books like the Bible to manipulate and control their flock.
they are using the faith of millions of Christians everywhere to rake in countless capital. i think if Jesus were around today, he'd be DISGUSTED at much of the organized religion in the world.
i also don't think any one religion is the "right" religion. pe...
with my PS3 dead, i'm seeing what it feels like to be a single console owner, and it SUCKS.
i honestly don't see how people do it. i've been waiting for Dead Nation for MONTHS now, and i can't even buy it until i get a new PS3, which won't happen for a few more weeks yet.
i can't play:
Dead Nation
Uncharted 2
Killzone 2
MGS4
God of War 3
Heavy Rain
White Knight Chronicle...
I'm not a big Halo fan anymore, but I played and completed Halo: Reach, and it doesn't belong anywhere NEAR a "Worst of 2010" list.
I rather enjoyed the game, although I do have my criticisms for it.
It's pathetic when sites do shit like this just to get hits. There's a difference between just having differing opinions on a product, and trolling for hits.
I plan on reviewing Halo: Reach for my site shortly, but I was...
Jaffe had a hand in Mickey Mania, so he will always have a bit of my respect. i LOVED that game back in the day.
it goes without saying that the God of War series took what games like DMC established and ran with it, adding a great story and an excellent, iconic character like Kratos.
i don't know why Jaffe gets so much flak. so he's an opinionated asshole, and the opinionated assholes on N4G and blogs like Destructoid aren't? kind of hypocritical...
it's disheartening.
i have my game blog, but i'd NEVER consider myself a journalist.
it seems like ever since "$599 US Dollars" at E3 2006, game "journalists" have gone batshit insane.
i'm sure you remember, but where was a time when dedicated console mags had mad respect for the competition, and didn't stoop to petty bs like sales numbers and nitpicking to prop up their preferred console of choice.
...
i love how bitter Destructoid sounds because there seem to be more developers loyal to developing for Sony than there are loyal to developing for Microsoft.
that's not really a dig, but it's the truth. how many former Xbox developers have broken away from the company to create multi-platform games?
how many former PS3 developers (OWNED by Sony), have broken away to make multi-platform games? *crickets*
Insomniac Games is second party,...
i have both, so i'm in a good spot.
if i had to recommend one to someone, it'd be PS3. the software library and features are pretty fricking excellent for a consumer looking to get more for your money this holiday.
my PS3 is currently dead in the water (i sent in my 60gig to Gophermods for repair, but unfortunately, it was the graphics chip that got fried, and they don't have the means to replace such a thing, so i'll be getting me a PS3 Slim ...
i have both, and so far, i'm satisfied with both.
i with they had more shows/movies (especially Hulu), but i understand that these are evolving services, and they will only get better as they progress.
the combined cost of Netflix and Hulu Plus for me is WAAAAAY cheaper than what i would have to pay for cable.
i don't watch much TV to begin with, so the shows available through both services meets me and my wife's particular needs....
for me, the score isn't what's important here.
8/10 is a great score, but what's important to me is the fact that Gamespot actually took their time to play the game.
sure, 10 days may not REALLY be enough to give GT5 it's due, but its' WAAAAAY better than the 2 days most of those other sites looking for hits by getting the review out at 12:01AM on Wednesday the 24th.
i don't need reviews to justify why i should like/di...
no they aren't.
as long as there are developers like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studios, Bioware, Quantic Dream, etc, there will ALWAYS be single player games.
not every developer is after the same goals. not every developer specializes in multi-player game design.
there's nothing wrong with a game that's JUST single player, and there's nothing wrong with a game that's JUST multi-player, or a game that has BOTH.

i think the Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Tim Schafer's games, and series like Monkey Island showcase that humor in games can succeed wonderfully when little things like "writing talent" and "comedic timing" are considered by the studio creating the game.
that last scene in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is brimming with so much charm and humor you almost think you should take a trip to the dentist because of the sweetness.
games like Psyc...
not sure if you're being serious with that list, but how many of those titles are actually CONFIRMED to be in development, let alone releasing in 2011?
out of that list the only games that we KNOW are in development are:
Gears of War 3
Star Wars Kinect
Code Name Kingdoms
Steel Battalion Heavy Armor
Project Draco
The First Templar
XCom
Rise of Nightmares
Haunt
Codename D
my wife called GT5 a "carpg" which i think sums it up nicely.
i can't afford to buy it right now, but i just might. that photo-sharing thread on Neogaf sold me on the game.
any company that takes that much effort to painstakingly recreate a single motor vehicle, let alone 200 of them, deserves my respect and support.

one of the things that i really like about PlayStation consoles is it's penchant for appealing to niche markets.
NOBODY, not even the raving fanboys, thought that Heavy Rain would do as well as it did, for example.
i don't care for sales, but i DO care for consoles having a breadth of content.
maybe Sony doesn't have a core series that sells 8 million units, but it has a STABLE of series that consistently sell 1-4 million units, a...
