Yup... says so on the MS site. Console gamers are out of luck on this one, which makes sense if they're going for an updated successor to the MS Flight Simulator line which is heavily mod/add-on and peripheral dependent. It frankly just wouldn't fly (no pun intended) on a console.

There have been a couple of games in the past that have made me jump or given me that creepy feeling. But none of that compares with the sheer terror that EVE online can inflict upon my mortal soul. Knowing that you just screwed up and the ship you've invested a hundred hours of boring grind into might very well explode in front of your own eyes within the next 10 seconds and no option to reload a previous saved game sorta sends the adrenaline pumping.

Yay... link works now.

Article was pretty much a waste of time though.

Fail link is fail... :)

That would have put a little more bite into the article and made it less of a snorefest. I mean... comeon... make it interesting.

I sure wouldn't want to play StarCraft 2 flailing my arms around like a lunatic. Oh and... uhm... what about combat flightsims? I kinda like using a joystick for that. Without a controller, how would I fly the aircraft? By grabbing my d... and yank it around? That sure puts a whole new spin on the term 'joystick'. I bet flightsims will become a whole lot more popular then... and feature a lot more hot chicks.

Seriously, if SC2 can kill a system, then so can some combo of FurMark, Super PI and whatever else hardware/system torture apps you can find for free on the net.

If one of these apps can torch your system, then either you bought a lemon (cooling and PSU is often a place where PC manufacturers take shortcuts to save $$$) or you didn't do your homework when you put your system together.

Oh yeah - and don't forget to keep those fans, filters and heatsin...

Don't play carbon copy shooters if you don't like them.

I don't play shooters... period. They do nothing for me. Yet I don't have any problem finding enough PC games to fill out my spare time and then some. How is that possible if PC gaming is all about carbon copy shooters according to you?

Heh... and if I'm going to play a shooter anyway... you can bet I'll take my mouse and my Zboard fang keypad over a console controller any day of ...

What's a 1000watt Corsair PSU doing in that build?

OMG...

I remember back in the days of the C64, Amiga and early PC where I would buy a game just for the manual. Opening the box and finding a 200 page book was just awesome and certainly worked as some sort of DRM. I guess those days are over.

Selling unfinished games?

Hah...

Hahahaha.....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...*COUGH* *CHOKE*

Haha...

Ha...

*snort*

They've been selling unfinished games for years. But I guess it's cool to make it official and sound like it's a feature rather than a bug.

I think they're still worth playing, but the genre has become stagnant in my eyes and I now take long breaks of not playing any MMOs at all.

The thing is, *most* of the MMOs released after WoW turned out to be crappy rushed WoW clones, usually with some novel feature or a popular IP to try and set it apart. The ones that weren't WoW clones didn't do too well either because they were buggy, unfinished or just poorly done, which just reinforces the idea that making ...

All depends on the game. I'm quite willing to pay $100 for a good hardcore flight/space simulator or a kickass MMO because I know at the very least that I'll get hundreds if not thousands of hours out of it.

Your average shooter on the other hand, I wouldn't pay more than $10 for since there are millions of 'em already and it'll only last me a couple of days before I get bored with it. They're just not my cup of tea. But since they're selling easil...

As the article points out, modding, Steam and multitasking (dual display FTW) are three big reasons why I like PC gaming. Running 3 EVE online clients at the same time on one PC is just geektastic.

I've never felt any sort of desire to own a console.

It's not that I'm against them or anything. It's simply because most of the games I like to play aren't even on console, so I would always need a PC to play those. I've only encountered a ...

I got a score of 5025 with all sorts of junk running in the background on dual screen setup, so I'm sure I can squeeze a little more out of it.

Only saw a couple of very brief dips below 60fps, so I guess I'm all set for a decent experience?

I frankly wouldn't go for the GTX 480. Sure, it has the performance but there are too many drawbacks compared to other GPU solutions.

If on a budget, grab a GTX 460 1GB and OC the hell out of it. That'll make it a close match to the more expensive, noisy and power hungry GTX 470. I have a GTX 460 1GB OC'ed by 25% over the stock clock settings and it runs like a dream and only when I stress test it can I actually hear the fan and not overly loud at that. If that is...

Looks like a toddler's toys compared to what I'm normally playing with. But if some people find it amusing, more power to them. Sometimes it's the simple things that are the most fun.
