Heh... I grew up on flight sims. They were waaaay more common in the days of the C64 and Amiga. Unfortunately, as a result of that, I can't really seem to get much enjoyment out of games like COD.

Old article is old. Already posted here some 15 days ago at http://n4g.com/news/788242/...

It's a fun and very affordable game with an old-school feel. I find it to be a good reminder that gameplay trumps graphics, as long as the graphics have atmosphere that somehow fits the game.

Sure, you won't complete it in 10 hours over a weekend like some of the glitzy overpriced titles out there, but who says you have go all win-win-win-now-now-now on it? Just fire it up for an hour, have some fun, shut it down and come back another day when its rainy and you don...

It might be what EVE is all about in a sense, but it made for some pretty poor entertainment, that's for sure. The only thing I can think of which might be more boring would be an ice mining tournament.

So true... which is one of the reasons why I feel so out of touch with modern gaming a lot of the time.

Calling this a laptop seems almost misleading. 8.6lbs of flaming hell on my lap ain't going to happen and I doubt you'll get much gaming out of it on the battery if running full speed.

It's a portable gaming system and a very pricy one at that. I'd be afraid to bring it anywhere because of that pricetag and then... well... that sorta defeats the purpose, no? Oh, and what's going to happen if you decide to game for a couple of hours on a hot summer day with...

As the article says, it's basically (if we really simplify it) a WoW clone with a middle-earth skin and some twists here and there.

There's one major difference which the article doesn't really go into and it may just be my luck or something, but it basically boils down to this.

In WoW, my ignore list is longer than my friends list. In LotRO, I'm not even sure that I have anyone on ignore at the moment.

So if you tried W...

Whoever wrote that article clearly has a sense of humor.

It begs the question though - why on earth do we have to be so specific about our date of birth when wanting to watch a video on Steam that someone has deemed inappropriate for people below a certain age? Do they really think they fall for that and are incapable of lying and applying some creative subtraction?

Kids can be surprisingly smart and crafty at times ya know... or maybe this is all aimed at th...

Hmmm...

No Shogun 2 and then we have something like Everquest II: Destiny of Velious on the list. No offence, I have a lot of respect for EQ2 since it has provided me with countless hours of fun, but is EQ2 even a blip on the gaming radar these days? Wouldn't it make more sense to have Total War: Shogun 2 take that place?

Oh look, another one of those piracy debates. Yay...

To be honest, I find them pointless by now. It's like discussing religion. Everybody thinks they're doing the "right" thing using the same old arguments ad nauseam and will actively refuse to try and look at things from a different angle. To make it even more funny, the "saved" are often the biggest hypocrites of the bunch. At the end of the day, nothing has changed and the ship sails on like it ...

Crappy guilds are a dime a dozen in WoW. He is better off without them if they seriously can't figure out a solution.

I've done most of my raiding in WoW without voice. You only really need voice when you're going for some of the harder achievements. It's not like the rest of the raid can't use voice either if someone is unable to use voice. All it would take is someone else in the raid who has an easy rotation and quick typing speed to relay any important...

If I'm going to pick just one game that I purchased this year, I'd say Minecraft.

I bet that 149 hour/week guy speaks Chinese and has multiple personality disorder. Getting less than 3 hours of sleep per day for days is going to affect your performance and health. If this is not some farmer account being used by multiple people, then I'm truly sorry for the poor individual.

It was never hard at all. It was just a matter of how much time you had to invest and how good you were at kissing guild master/raid leader butts in order to get the shiny epics.

I get those scam e-mails all the time as well. Some of them are quite amusing. Alas, none of them are even sent to the right e-mail address. You see, when Blizzard had the not so brilliant idea of making you log into battlenet and thus WoW with your e-mail address, I knew I had to make a specific e-mail address just for WoW and nothing else.

He tried to win the game like a regular old singleplayer game. Failed at it since you can't win an MMO... and now he is bitter. That's what I got out of the article.

Just tell 'em that you found this game called Minecraft. They'll be sucked right in, never to be heard from again. People in the neighborhood will start whispering stories about zombies moaning in the dark alleys at night.

Minecraft is a great example that you don't need shiny DX11 graphics and a marketing department bigger than the Chinese army in order to succeed. Get your gameplay right and the game -will- sell on its own.

I hope the big guys are paying attention to this, because I'm tired of playing the same old copyclones with a new polish and a truckload of empty hype. Minecraft has frankly been the best PC game purchase I've made this year and I doubt it'll change when Wo...
