My first GPU was a MOS Technology 65xx (probably 6569) VIC-II. Good times. My first actual video card was a Tseng Labs ET4000 based card (don't remember the manufacturer name). Oh, and my first and only console was a Philips Videopac G7000 aka Magnavox Odyssey². Yeah, I feel pretty old now lol.
I wonder what happens to your passenger if you dismount in mid air. As a druid, I can always pop into flight form before hitting the ground, but my passenger may not be so fortunate *evilgrin*.
That thing is awesome!
For the first time ever, I may just have to go with an ATI card. For the GTX480, I'd have to get a new power supply which adds to an already steep price of the card itself. Furthermore, I use my PC 8+ hours per day, so the added power consumption does add up rather quickly on the electricity bill. Then there's the heat and noise issues which I'm not fond of either.
Sure, it's a fast card, but when you add up everything else, it just doesn't seem worth it compared to what ATI is o...
That's pretty decent compensation everything considered. It still doesn't solve the underlying issue with the DRM though.
Dunno about you guys, but this reeks of desperation to me.
My single factory OC'ed Core 216 GTX260 is still doing fine and I got that little over a year ago with my system. By the end of this year, my system will be 2 years old.
Besides Flight Simulator X, I don't really have anything that pushes my 3.8GHz quad core CPU to the max and it's just an OC'ed Q9550, not even an i7 or something. Nothing even comes close to using my 8GB of DDR2.
So at the end of this year when prices have dropped, I may just be able to get away wit...
What? 90 days? Where I live there's a minimum 2 year warranty on stuff like that. And since I pretty much upgrade every other year, warranty is rarely an issue. Although if something dies a year and a half down the road, I tend to just use it as an excuse for an early upgrade rather than bothering with the wait and logistical work needed in order to get it fixed/replaced.
Those games on that list were okay (corection: KotOR was awesome).
However, the ones that really stood out to me were the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series. They really managed to capture the feeling of the movies while neither being too arcady, nor too hardcore. I sure hope the rumors of resurrection are correct. I'd love to put on my virtual helmet (ooh... TrackIR support?) and climb into the c0ckpit of a snubfighter once more.
(lol - you can't spell c0ckpit the way it's s...
You hear that? You know, the sound besides the pathetic whining coming from the EA corporate suits who have absolutely no sense of humor? Yeah, that's the sound of lawyers laughing as they cash in on yet another pointless lawsuit.
Congratulations EA on yet another dumb move. You're wasting your time and the money you could have used to make your games better... or filled your pockets with (most likely the latter).

My guess is that the adoption of the hexagonal system has to do with the removal of unit stacks and ranged units actually being ranged. They want moving and positioning of units to have more strategic importance than it did in the past. The hexagonal system just reinforces that. It'll also give the game a more oldschool feel I suppose.
I have no earthly clue who you're talking about. Frankly, I don't know anyone on these boards, nor do I care.
I'm guessing Erik is the poster of the article? So... you two got some axes to grind and you jumped to conclusions? Or is it just that people aren't allowed to say thanks anymore and whenever someone posts something, the proper etiquette is to flame them? I mean, do tell - I'm curious.
I don't even know what my gearscore is, nor do I care. I hate pug raids and only do them if I feel like I must. I do ICC with my small guild. We are casually working our way through and that's all that matters to me. I mean, 3-6 hours of raiding per week doesn't require you to quit your job, divorce your wife and sell your children into slavery, right?
It'll probably take some time before we get to the end, but why the rush? It's not like Cataclysm is just around the corner and I...
Useless article.
Perhaps Mortal Online is just crap? Does that mean sandbox is crap in general? Surely we have seen a crappy theme park MMO or two (or a dozen) over the years. Does that mean they're all crap as well?
Also, does sandbox automatically mean no tutorial, no quests, none of the new mechanics and seemingly forced crafting as the author of the article suggests?
Why is sandbox somehow incompatible with all that?
Could it be that the...
Been thinking about getting this one for a while and didn't check Steam because I've been busy in WoW (MMOs and Simulators - what a combo lol). Would have missed the offer had it not been for this post. Much appreciated.
The American civil war is all I can come up with as a logical next step if they want to stick with the firearms theme. WWI and beyond would require a drastic change in how the game plays thanks to long range artillery and aircrafts... and with the exception of the civil war, most people don't know much about the wars that took place between Napoleon and WWI. I'm not too sure how interesting it would be though, given the limited scope of the civil war.
I believe going back to Rome...
It's a sweet CPU, but I'd rather just get a regular quad core and overclock it to 4+GHz for a fraction of the prize, then spend the money on other good stuff like a SSD or two.
Even for something like Flight Simulator X which is so heavily CPU bound it's not even funny and has the support to use more cores than you can throw at it, I doubt it would make enough difference to justify the price tag.
If money was absolutely no issue on the other hand, yeah... then I'd ge...
Well, that explains it. I play pretty much only RPGs, MMOs, RTS/Strategy games and simulators. Those games can easily take 15 hours just to get started on. Heck, most free MMO trials can get you that much entertainment... for free.
And people complain about MMOs being too expensive because of the monthly sub?
Oh well, I was considering expanding my horizon (MMO pickings are slim these days), but I can't justify buying a game if I might be done with it in half a week ...
I play Horde and I love Alliance. I mean, we're a perfect match for each other. I kill some of them and get honor points. They kill me a bit and get some honor points in return. In the end, we both walk away with some shinies. Isn't that the ultimate in cuddly carebearism? We all win, so why hate each other?
But playing a %$*# bloodelf. Yeah, that's a valid excuse for denying someone a job I'd say.
