I'm happy with Windows 7.
Performance is not an issue on my system (I5 SB @4.8GHz, 8 Gigs RAM, 2x240GB SSD, OCed GTX670) and it's stable as a rock.
I only boot my system once or twice a day and it's plenty fast on SSD already. It's going to take a whole day to reinstall all my stuff (I have LOTS of customized stuff), so shaving off maybe 20 seconds a day on booting up isn't going to make any time economical sense. Furthermore, I'm not ...
lol - I play neither. I would be so out of place in that town :)
I'm a PC gamer. A hardcore one at that.
I enjoy the luxury of being surrounded with multiple monitors, hardware displays, head tracking device, force-feedback racing wheel, HOTAS joystick, rudder pedals, gaming keyboard + keypad, 20 button MMO mouse and more. It's all set up like a little command center where I can sit in my comfy reclining chair and not be forced to share it with anyone.
That being said, I completely understand why so many prefer con...
So much doom and gloom.
I remember the days when people would laugh at you for suggesting that Windows could be a viable gaming platform!
Microsoft is just flexing their muscles in an attempt to gain more control. They are testing the market so to speak. Alienating the entire PC gaming market is not in their best interest though. Too much money at stake and Microsoft, like most companies, like money.
The only reason for me running Windows 7 i...
The knife entry made me laugh. It's so true.
And not a single one of those is on my 'must buy' list.
Well, he could be from Australia or New Zealand in which case it would make sense.
That's a dollar and a half per hour. That's pretty decent in my eyes if we are speaking about quality hours. If you play 1-2 hours a day, it'll take you about a month to go through it. You could go all out and finish it over a weekend, but that's just not healthy. Even if you take a week to finish it, that's like having a second job in terms of hours per week.
Sure, MMOs, sandbox, competitive multiplayer games etc. can easily beat that in terms of the doll...
It's not a question of skill vs hard work to me.
It's about me having more respect for people that dare to be different and think outside of the box, than I have for people who simply do the expected faster than everybody else.
Doing stuff like this ranks much higher on my personal 'That's Awesome' list than getting world first in raiding or reaching whatever max level is at the time before everybody else.
Pissible? Do you need a full bladder for this to work? ;)
I remember EA all the way back to the days of the C64 and the Amiga. They used to stand for quality and innovation. Now they're the rulers of mediocrity, sequels and killing off good developing studios.
Well, since we're invoking Freedom of Speech... can't wait to try 'Concentration Camp Tycoon'.
Yes, folks... before you freak... that's sarcasm. My point is, where do you draw the line? If you draw the line somewhere, then is it truly freedom of speech?
But sure... I'm okay with Bin Laden DLC... it just doesn't sound all that interesting to me.
I like Windows 7. It works for me. The Windows 8 UI feels like step backwards to me. Not just in the way you use it but also the way it looks. Sure, performance might be a bit better, but my GTX 670 handles Aero Glass just fine thank you very much. The other improvements do not matter much to me since my system is quite capable as is (SB I5 @ 4.8Ghz, 8 Gigs RAM & 240+256GB SSD). There are no must have exclusives either.
Nah, I'll just wait and see if Windows 9 correct...
I'm actually finding myself moving away from multiplayer and playing more singleplayer games than I've done in the past 10 years.
I just can't be bothered with people anymore. The asshat to cool dude ratio is just way out of whack these days (not so much 10 years ago).
To make matters worse, I find it hard to get a consistent multiplayer gaming experience. You're either roflstomping people or getting roflstomped yourself. Finding a good match ...
Ah, the C64. My first true love... where computers are concerned, that is :)
Funny thing is, a lot of my friends back then approached the C64 as a console. Fixed system. Hook it up to the TV. Insert disk (or tape). Wait for it to load and then play. I was one of the few who took it a bit further and actually learned how to program the darn thing, first using BASIC and then assembly language through a Final Cartridge 3. Never produced anything noteworthy on it though, but was ...
Article Quote "I'd often hear that PC gaming was better, but when I'd do the math, I'd realize it was also ridiculously more expensive."
Well, if he keeps buying gaming laptops whenever he feels the need to be a PC gamer, it's no wonder why he thinks it ridiculously more expensive and becomes obsolete in no time flat. That just reinforces the whole idea. Heck, the money I put into a complete rebuild (everything but PSU) of my PC this year would get m...
Well... why should you leave WoW for GW2 when you can play both and still only pay one subscription? Most people balk at the thought of paying more than one subscription, so it becomes an either or situation where you move from one MMO to another but never both at the same time. Here you can have the best of both worlds without breaking the bank. Time is the only limit.
Nah, I don't see it as a killer of the subscription model in general. The MMO market has been heading towards various forms of f2p for quite some time on its own. It will however, be a bit more difficult for future MMOs to justify a subscription model if the quality of the game isn't up to it. GW2 has raised the bar on that one in regards to what we've come to expect from MMOs without a subscription model. Future subscription based MMOs will have to be better than GW2 in order to ...
I almost feel sorry for EA. Almost...
