If you've played Conduit, you already know how you'll be able to hook up with friends.
Step 1 -- Turn on console.
Step 2 -- Start game.
Step 3 -- Load save file.
Step 4 -- Open "multiplayer."
Step 5 -- When connected, press "friends."
Step 6 -- Go play with friends.
Really, it's not that hard.
Yes, friend codes suck, but once you have 'em, that's all there is to it.
A recession, the gaming industry at a 9-year low, a relatively AAA-less spell of releases, the holidays months off and no price cuts in sight.
...yes, this is what happens in the middle of a crap storm.
Seriously.
Didn't anyone bother reading the whole article? Sheesh.
That said, VC is for old titles, WiiWare isn't. There are only so many VC titles to be released. We may have seen the last big one from Nintendo with Majora's Mask. Doesn't mean we still won't see titles come out, but the big guns have already mostly been shot.
NMH may not have been GOTY-caliber to the editors at IGN or Gamepro, but it was IMO. That makes NMH2 a potential AAA title and first-day buy for me. We know the bosses will be badass, and hopefully Suda gets a better sandbox set up.
That said...I'm not following how Travis would've fallen down the assassin rankings. Wasn't the UAA just a con set up by Sylvia?
Damn, oobob. Why ya gotta lay out so much pwn-age in one response? :D
It's pretty sad that devs got so lazy with the Wii. But it looks like that is slowly changing, TellTale's b.s. aside.
"I'd would definitely bet that the iPhone OS is more heavy duty than the wii OS, purely because it does a lot more. so therefore that extra RAM over the wii might just be there to help run the OS + applications more smoothly, and not specifically for gaming purposes. That is just a guess though."

A good guess, I'd wager. The iPhone is an electronic swiss army knife. It's doing a LOT of stuff besides gaming. The Wii, OTOH, is completely gaming-...
Big N is having enough trouble filling out first-party titles as it is. The Wii is already in need of more Mario, more Zelda and more Samus (not to mention Star Fox, Pikmin, F-Zero, etc.). They won't make it any easier on themselves trying to juggle two versions of Wii.
They are so successful right now because they stepped out of the graphics wars. I don't think more polygons and higher def texture resolution would have made Twilight Princess or Galaxy any better, either.
Arius -- The length of the game is its true downfall. The motion controls work (they're not just waggle), the commentary is hilarious, the plot is actually pretty good, and the art style/graphics are timeless.
But it's a beat 'em up. An arcade throwback (with more violence) that lasts 5 or 6 hours. That's two nights of gaming if you're on a roll, one evening if you're particularly bored. Sinking $50 into a 6-hour game just doesn't cut it. Even if the 6 hours is AAA-level (wh...
A sequel to Black? It was a straight forward shoot 'em up that was as much a short tech demo as a game. We've already got plenty of FPS that fill that market segment. Plus, it would have to add one hell of an online component to compete.
Now, a sequel to XIII could be interesting...
Making a more cinematic experience gives games a more epic scope, though. I agree that Prime 3 got it right...and I hope they don't go overboard with Other M (I wouldn't mind Samus talking, but the point of being the lone badass is doing more talking with your actions).
But voice acting is already partly there in Zelda -- Midna made all sorts of noises in Twilight Princess. Just change them to spoken words and leave Link as the noble mute.
You're right that Motion+...
I actually hated the shotgun at first. Mainly because I was getting shot in the head when I'd come around corners. But now that I've gotten used to it, it's my favorite weapon.
Give me the spas and the Drudge strike rifle, and I'm a happy guy.
I really hope for Conduit to have some legs, but everyone's sales are down right now. HVS picked a bad time to release the game. : (
92 would be the highest score yet for this game, wouldn't it? A little high, IMO.
But this is probably the best review for the game -- the author actually spends a good chunk of time talking about the multiplayer, and gives due props to the tweak-able control scheme. The single player really IS just basic training for going online (and getting killed by one headshot because of the precise IR aiming).
Warioland isn't bad. It's an old school 2D platformer, but a good one. Haven't played Excitebots, though (the last "Excite" title was decent).
MadWorld for $20 is awesome. That's a AAA-level title. I wish its price were being cut because it had sold so many copies that it was getting the "greatest hits" treatment, but maybe more people will play it now, regardless.
oobob -- The thing is, I have seen some reviewers compare Conduit's scheme to dual analog. Like this one:
"The control is less horrible than you might fear. However, it falls well short of a vanilla dual analog scheme – not to mention mouse and keyboard."
http://gameinformer.com/NR/...
My jaw dropped when I read that. I'm glad I had already stop...
I don't think anyone can disagree with the points about Conduit's graphics. It's impressive...for a Wii game. A better art style could turn it into something special. But Quantum3 will never push as much onscreen as PS3/360. It can look nice with what it has, though.
What the heck was with this comment, though?
"In terms of The Conduit's gameplay, the point-and-shoot system is something of a double-edged sword. Pointing at the opponent and shooting is obviou...
Definitely true that they're probably doing DC on rails because it's cheaper.
But it's not that big a "risk" to do an RE4-esque title on Wii. One has already sold quite well.
And since the game engine is already in place and wouldn't cost nearly as much to make as RE5 did, the only thing I can think of is penny pinching on Capcom's part.
The headline is very, very misleading. Bachelet isn't quoted there as saying the new art style makes comparisons "irrelevant" (that's an invention of the blog poster). She said they tried this art style to "avoid" comparisons with 360/PS3.
As MK_Red noted earlier, games like Prince of Persia and Borderlands use similar art styles, but are still going to look sharper.
That said, look at games like Wind Waker or Okami. They've aged remarkably wel...
Red Steel 2 getting bumped to early next year is a bummer for me.
If I have to pick a first-day purchase between it and No More Heroes 2, I'm gonna have to go with NMH2.
Another review that would translate to a 90 metascore. I think 75-85 (give or take a point or two) is as much as this deserves. After all, it's a small developer's first big project, launched into a crowded field, no less.
The review is spot-on about the controls (how some reviewers -coughGameInformercough -- actually wished for dual analog tells me they're just not very good at aiming), and the graphics, too.
But there aren't any critiques on the art style and lev...
