It's a neat element...that is still in an on-rails game. Eh.
Funny as hell, as usual.
But if you're dragging the cursor to turn like in Red Steel, shrink the dead zone. That's what customizable controls are there for. A 90 degree turn with the Wii remote is faster than turning with dual analog (so long as your dead zone isn't flippin' huge). If you're getting killed because you can't be bothered to go to the options menu, that isn't the game's fault.
CW -- We'll just have to agree to disagree on some things here. I loved Twilight Princess almost as much as Bioshock (ask me tomorrow which one I like more and the answer might flip). I can't think of a game that has topped it within its genre. Same with Galaxy.
Now you're absolutely right on Conduit. It wouldn't stand out at all on the 360 or PS3...well, save for the controls (everyone focused on the visuals on that game, and overlooked the best console FPS controls I've eve...
Lol, you just can't stand to say you're wrong, can you? You insist this POV is a phenomenon among people like Arius or me when it's not -- these are the devs and publishers.
But that's just not good enough. What, you think that because costs may have gone down somewhat on the PS3 or 360 these past few years, they've stayed stagnant on the Wii? Are you kidding me?
Here, this is from February of THIS year:
More gamers is just a byproduct of popularizing a new method of controlling videogames. I'm all for more control options -- I can't go back to dual analog for FPS or a golf sim now -- and we'll be getting even more from Sony and Microsoft. Win-win.
There are the screen caps of Other M in a first-person view, too, so I don't think they're totally leaving the flavor of Prime behind.
The game will have a hard time living up to Retro's games, but it seems like Nintendo is inclined to experiment more with Metroid than their other big series.
Chris -- It isn't fantasy that it costs more to make a 360 or PS3 game. It's "dense" to deny that, actually.
No, I'm not the head of a studio or publisher. But I'll listen to one like Brian Ferrell, THQ President/CEO. But I guess he must be lying, right? Because he disagrees with you?

This isn't a POV Arius or I created. The people who make gam...
I thought it got a bit heavy handed at the end of the first page, but the second page brings it all back. Resort is an electronic vacation, pure and simple.
That is quite different than other games where the objective is to get through the plot (even multiplayer gives you a small plot -- win that race, capture that flag, shoot up the blue team, etc.), like you're playing a role in a movie or projecting yourself into a book.
Instead, it's all about just interacting w...
Chris -- Shooting myself in the foot? From what, you offering no rebuttal to the real cost of making Wii games vs. PS3/360 games? And c'mon, it was a laughable assertion that PS2 games all shared some secret underlying code that allowed developers to make them all ultra cheaply. (Clover studios would've loved that secret, btw.)
Conduit and HotD aren't AAA. Didn't say they were. But if you made them on one of the HD consoles, and they sold the amount they did on Wii, they'd b...
CW -- Since when does 1080p alone make a game good? Or surround sound? Don't get me wrong, higher resolution and a speaker behind you can certainly add something to the experience of gaming. But they don't MAKE the experience all by themselves. This is a good list, I think:

For every good FPS on the 360, there's a mediocre or bad one, too. Pretty visuals a...
TheoreticalParticle -- I think we're talking apples and oranges comparing the Dreamcast to the Wii. The DC didn't even sniff market leader status; a lot of development teams just never bothered to put their full ingenuity into the system because it never caught on (they waited for the PS2, and it turns out they were right to stay on the PlayStation gravy train).
And Soul Caliber would like to talk to you about third-party graphics on the DC, btw.
I can't blame Ninte...
A brand new engine with brand new tech obviously isn't being made for the vast majority of Wii titles either though, so I'm not sure what your point is there, Chris. I gave a list of plenty of great PS2 titles below, and I seriously doubt Fatal Frame, Okami and Smuggler's Run are so similar that their development time was akin to a cut and dry port done on the cheap.
Compared to making an HD title, it IS cheaper to make a Wii game. Sega said HotD:Overkill turned a profit, and t...

Maybe it's just because I'm biased, but those seem low. Don't get me wrong, they're good scores...but the original Prime is one of the top-rated games of all time. Prime 2 was just as good, and Corruption is one of the Wii's very best.
All 3 of them for $50 in 480p widescreen with the the third game's control sche...
Pretty much all of those observations are spot-on.
The release schedule thing is biggest of all, IMO. It's stupid to release all of your big sellers or GOTY-quality stuff at the end of the year. You can almost release a big gun at any time. Last year, SSBB released in March and GTA4 was at the end of April.
Well put. "Core" Nintendo titles sell for a reason. A LOT of effort gets put into those games. Galaxy and LoZ:TP took a long, long time to make.
We haven't really seen AAA-level stuff from third parties. I love No More Heroes, and the sequel is a first-day purchase for me, but it's a 15-hour game, tops. I put 70 hours into Twilight Princess, and the production values aren't even close (Grasshopper is cool, but they can't polish like Nintendo).

There were some good articles about the Cube vs. PS2 on graphics:

The Cube never got the props it deserved for graphics. I still have a PS2 and love it, but games like SSX Tricky looked MUCH better on the Cube.

Apparently EA decided that rather than push the Wii for Madden, they'd just clean up the PS2-esque visuals and exaggerate the body types to pass it off as a "graphics overhaul."
It isn't. Some of the screen caps DO look less jaggy and cleaner overall, but that's not exactly Earth shaking.
The only reason to get this version is to have the Call Your Shot feature on defense. CYS is a fantastic audible feature on Wii, IMO. But if you can live without it for...
I haven't seen a ton of screen caps for it. There aren't many on IGN, so I doubt they've gotten more out than some early build stuff:

But if they're aiming for MH3, that's a pretty nice looking game. No, not on par with the PS3 or 360, but better than FFXII:
Don't get me wrong, it's a first-day purchase for me. The boss battles and storyline will make it worthwhile. But I was hoping they'd actually make the sandbox aspect a bit more...compe...
Etseix -- Twilight Princess and Galaxy aren't really "casual" titles. Yes, they're first party games...but they aren't mini game compilations, and they sold quite well. Established IP's like Resident Evil and Call of Duty do alright on Wii, too. People who swear by FPS alone are definitely on 360/PS3, but beyond that...I'm not so sure. Dead Space didn't put up GTA numbers, after all.
NMH is a strange title to bring up, because initially everyone thought it was a fai...
