As a Wii owner, I have no stake in the PS3/360 fanboy war.

But I don't know how anyone could not see a PS3 for $300 as a big deal. It's a HUGE deal (that has apparently been confirmed by K-Mart's web site).

Why? Because it's great for gamers. It puts the PS3 within reach for more people. The 360 and Wii may drop their prices in response...once again, better for gamers (hell, you may end up being able to buy all three consoles -- well, the 360 arcade, anyway -- f...

Sure...people who go online to bash other consoles/games that they don't own are good for the industry because they're..."passionate " (about acting like fools) and do it often?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Maybe devs are starting to get the idea -- put a little effort into a Wii game, and you'll get decent sales (just look at EA).

This could end up being a very pleasant surprise. That said, I won't get my hopes up too high...

Climax looks to be making one heckuva Silent Hill game...in third person view, with some pretty impressive graphics.

For me, "Shattered Memories" is doing what I'd hoped "Extraction" would do. Maybe Visceral really IS trying to make the very best rail shooter for a system where rail shooters are common. But the lack of quality TPS (outside of the best version of RE4) just makes the new Dead Space seem like a missed opportunity.

I don't understand knocking the games for being similar. They're all Metroid Prime games. Of COURSE they'll feel similar.

That's like blaming Halo for being Halo or GTA for being GTA.

Re-traversal is a hallmark of the series. Powering up, too (and it's the same in any shooter; you don't start off with the most powerful weapons).

That said, I never really put together the similarities between Bioshock and Prime, mainly because of the Rand-esque plot el...

I'll check a few things out through the links here, but by and large, I stick with IGN's coverage. They have dedicated teams to each console (preventing strange reviews like the one Gamepro gave Conduit). They aren't immune to fanboyism, but they're usually fair. You can count on someone reviewing Halo 3 that isn't predisposed to hating on FPS, and you can count on GOTY honors going to deserving titles (like when Okami beat out Twilight Princess).

Nintendo seemed to hedge their bets that people wouldn't jump to HD all at once, buying flat screens, Blu-ray and HD consoles.

And aiming at people who weren't interested in dropping a grand on a flat-screen TV has worked for them.

But you can't even find SDTV's in some stores now. The prices are gradually coming down, so yes, they're going to have to keep pace once the tech gets cheaper. This isn't even a question, really. It's only a matter of time before Ninte...

Agreed, MRIBN.

No one's gonna defend what Vick did. But he received his punishment for it. Now he moves on.

Strictly for football, and we're just talking about the teams on paper right now, the Eagles went from scary to downright frightening. You could line Vick up anywhere. DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are speed freaks. Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy are nightmares in the open field, and they'll have Leonard Weaver run blocking for them. Donovan McNabb a...

Mastiff -- VGC isn't the most accurate, but they're usually somewhere in the ballpark, and they have Chinatown Wars at about 650,000. Those aren't the numbers the PSP games put up, but it's also a top-down, 2D-looking GTA. It'll probably hit million status after the holidays.

Sadly, this year was loaded with Q4 games, and some of the really nice ones have been pushed back 'til next year. Eh, what can ya do?

That's just it, though. A lot of people aren't speaking facts, they're spouting opinions as facts, usually playing the role of fanboy apologist.

I spent a good chunk of time yesterday in a thread where some guy was belligerent in saying that the Wii actually costs as much to develop for as the PS3 or 360. It didn't matter how many devs and publishers have said otherwise from launch until now (I gave links from 2006 until February of this year), that person was not going to be d...

Yeah...that's pretty much how the interview reads, lol.

That's just the angle the gaming press is pushing, but it's always being modified.
First, core games didn't sell.
That wasn't true, so it was changed to non-Nintendo games don't sell.
But third-party games have sold alright...just ask EA.
So now it's "third-party core games don't sell on Wii."

...even though Conduit, HotD, NMH, COD:WAW, RE4 and UC, Red Steel, Tiger Woods 10, Boo...

Ah, you beat me, desolation.

But you gotta love the smell of fail in the morning.

No purchase for me, either. But as long as the quality of first-party Nintendo games like Mario, Zelda and Metroid remains high, I don't think anyone can just say they're only making gimmick games. They're invested in some casual titles, but their core franchises never disappoint.

Sure. Go pick up No More Heroes. Once you unlock "Bitter" difficulty, the game gets a LOT more interesting.

The stars required to beat Bowser in Mario Galaxy aren't terribly hard to get, on the whole. But there's just as many non-essential ones, and THAT is where the difficulty ramps up considerably.

World of Goo has some pretty difficult puzzles.

The higher difficulty in either of the Trauma Center games are true ball busters.

"After Echoes was released, producer Kensuke Tanabe revealed that the game was only thirty percent complete three months before the release date."

That. Is. Amazing.

I knew Retro was a helluva studio...but wrapping up almost three-quarters of a AAA-level game in 90 days? Yowzah.

(A good chunk of the first phase of development HAD to be art development and direction, though, so that makes it a bit more understandable.)

Anywho, Ec...

I'm going to have to play through Corruption again?

Well gosh darn it.

I guess I'll rise above my anguish and have another complete play through of one of the top games this gen. It's OK, Retro. I'll somehow find the strength.

Nintendo hedged their bets that everyone wouldn't jump on the HD bandwagon right away and all at once, buying flat screens, Blu-ray or HD consoles. Pitching a console to people who may not even be interested in sinking a grand into a TV has worked out for them.

But prices are coming down. You can't even find SDTV's in some stores now. I'd wager you'll see a new Nintendo console first.

After that? Microsoft released first and has had their console out the longest,...

Agreed, Zoids.

Although I don't think MadWorld sucked...it was a niche game. As Product said, a niche game will do niche numbers, regardless of the system. Platinum/Clover has proved that on the two most successful consoles of this gen and the last one.

Sega shipped 300,000 copies of Conduit and sold half already. Like HotD, that game will turn a profit (if it hasn't already).

Some games are just meant to do modest sales. Ico, Psychonauts and Okami d...

The sales of Sega's "big three" says they probably could've picked some different games.

MadWorld went the way of Okami (although I wouldn't say it's as good a game). The Clover/Platinum folks just have a knack for making niche games.

HotD: Overkill is a rail shooter on a system with a glut of rail shooters. That it turned a profit (after it had a reasonable amount of polish to call it an A-release...just not AAA) is a good sign.

Conduit coul...
