They have all the basics up. The graphics, controls and online were all good, so the tech is there.
Now they have to get some better art direction and integrate the story a bit better.

If they nail the controls and do as well for the online as HVS did with Conduit, it'll be fantastic, despite the graphics taking a hit.
This makes me look forward to the trilogy...but it's also made me think about how much I'll miss having new Prime games.

Perhaps because online modes aren't the be-all, end-all of gaming? And there are some gamers who play games that just aren't online-centric (like FPS)?
In every single one of these threads, plenty of great core Wii games get listed (I already did so), and I very much doubt you've had a chance to even play half of 'em.

Does anyone know exactly how long this game has been in development? If Team Ninja and Big N have been working on this for two years or something, then I definitely think we'll see it next year. But anything less than that? The picture gets a lot murkier.
I understand the ragging on downgraded visuals, but have some people here never played good FPS controls on the Wii? Go pick up Prime 3 or Conduit and then say dual analog is still better. When done RIGHT, IR/pointer controls are faster and more precise (and more customizable now, too). In short, better.
HVS did just fine with the online in Conduit. That's the new standard for Wii games (done by a small dev team to boot), and Activision can build on it.

I consider a game like Galaxy a core game. It's a bona fide AAA title. Does it look kiddy compared to Modern Warfare? Yeah, but that's the style of the game. Same as the art style for Ratchet and Clank, which is a core game...and a beautiful one at that.
For the life of me, I don't know when "core" came to mean "realistic graphics." I thought being challenging was a big part of it, and most people now would get their asses handed to them if they played ...
There's a lot of junk, but there's a lot of good stuff, too. IMO, of course. There are more good games than I have time to play on Wii.
I haven't gotten all of the stars in Galaxy. Have to go back and do that once I get Conduit out of my system. I hope you enjoy SMG. I was glued to the TV when I bought it.

Did the author of this ever stop to think, "gee, games like No More Heroes or MadWorld sold niche/hit numbers because...they are niche titles"? Imagine that.
Resident Evil (either the 4 Wii-make or the on-rails games) sells fine. So does Call of Duty (W@W sold a million plus).

There could definitely be some truth to that -- No Mario Galaxy followed by Smash Bros. and Wii Fit.

I agree, but it's worth noting that many people disagree with this POV now, thinking this gen could last significantly longer (sorta falling in line with Sony's 10-year strategy).

Agreed. Not EVERY game needs online multi-player.
I've played through the original NMH 3 times. Make a great single player campaign with distinct difficulty settings (plus different endings), and that counts toward the longevity of the game.
