Pretty fair review, overall. But I don't get this:
"The mouse and the keyboard, and even the controllers of the other two systems, may be more precise."
Mouse/keyboard, sure. But if you think dual analog is quicker and more precise than pointer controls, you're doing it wrong.
But overall, as the reviewer said, "this is good stuff." Not great, but good.
Tin, tee-shirts, whatever. I just want to replay the first one with Corruption's control scheme.

There are probably still a few people within Nintendo who are smarting from all the complaints about Wind Waker's art style (although, looking back, the fuss was pretty stupid). They may not want to change Zelda too much...while Miyamoto is probably tired of basing LoZ off of a decade-old design.
Fair review, IMO. I'm tired of reading other reviews that complain about the story, as if Killzone or COD (or Halo, for that matter) were Tolstoy. But we do get the usual "the story is too short" meme (while you could beat COD4 on a long lunch break).
The graphics are a mixed bag, but show potential. The controls are the best yet seen for a console FPS. Good online, and Bounty Hunter kicks butt.
It's a "B" game. Not at the top of the FPS heap...
Yep. There is some impressive tech behind Conduit, but HVS can't hold a candle to Retro's art design. Good art design trumps polygon pushing power, IMO (it's why a game like Okami won't ever look dated, and why the original Metroid Prime still holds up surprisingly well).
Conduit has better controls and a very nice online component, but after playing both games...Corruption is a solid AAA title. Conduit isn't. It's a good game, deserving of a "B" grade, but it doesn...
KidMakeshift -- Standard FPS gameplay? It's the most customizable control scheme of any console shooter, ever.
swiftshot93 -- I agree with you. I think Metroid Prime walks over the Conduit's graphics, especially Corruption. HVS has nothing on Retro, and the excuse of "we made it plain on purpose" seems pretty lame.
Ocarina of Time doesn't even make the list for most innovative?
Shadow of the Colossus at number 4?
Doom at number 1? Really?
LittleBigPlanet above Halo and Half-Life?
No Resident Evil 4, Deus Ex, Super Mario Bros., Jet Set Radio (what, no love for cel shading?) Metroid Prime, KOTOR, System Shock 2, Goldeneye...
...COD4 was REALLY more innovative than those games because of just changing the setting and putting in a very light ...
I think a good FPS totally dispels that idea of the Wii being only about waggle. The precision of pointer controls isn't "waggle," and it's far superior to dual analog. The customization of the pointer controls (and pretty much everything) is this game's selling point, and that's not what the reviewer was talking about. He was talking about two gesture controls. And if you don't dig that setup, you can change it around.
True. You'd think there wouldn't be much dust there if these guys were busy playing Punch Out, or Tiger Woods with Motion Plus...
addnewman -- You're right about getting to the conduits to stop the re-spawns. That's a pretty lame criticism, and probably kept the game's ranking from being in the 8's.
But in the reviewer's defense...his problem with the controls was having to use any "waggle" at all, it seems. I don't really agree (if you don't want to use the wiimote for melee, turn it off and map grenade swaps to it), but that's his view.
[It's kinda funny, though, that he'd complai...
Scissor -- I just don't think the layout is anything that special. Thus far, at least. If you've played any recent console FPS, you've pretty much played through similar situations to the Conduit. Just not with the great controls.
N4Sony -- No, it's not a AAA title. It's a solid one. Nothing more, nothing less. But there's no way KZ2 should be put up there with Half Life or Halo. Those were genre-defining titles. Most of the reviews of KZ2 remarked about how it was good, ...
Deee187 -- I love the trilogy and I'm definitely buying it...but I think Retro's control scheme has been one upped in a big way with Conduit's release. I'd still rather explore through Bryyo, though.
Scissor -- I have the game. Haven't had as much time to play through it as I'd like right now, though. But "classic level design"? Well, if by "classic" you mean fairly generic run and gun (go there, shoot that, next room), then I'd agree.
As for the levels' layout, it's kinda bland, IMO. The graphics are fantastic, but the art design...not so much (this game doesn't even come close to touching Retro's artistry and level/room geometry in any of the Prime g...
condorstrike -- Better controls than Halo 3, yes (best console FPS controls ever).
HVS doesn't touch Bungie for level design and art style, though.
I don't really think too much of the plots for either franchise, tbh.
But if I'm playing online and my choices are tighter controls or nicer graphics, I'm picking controls in a heartbeat. Once you leave dual analog behind, there's no going back.
Syronicus -- I don't know what games you've been playing. Metroid Prime 3 (soon be the entire Prime trilogy), The Conduit and MOH:H2 don't have "wanky" controls AT ALL. Especially with the customization in Conduit. All of the old complaints for Wii about turning speed and 180 turns are gone.
Of course, if you play like people at demo booths (arms straight out), you won't be too precise. But sitting down with a chair's arm rest and pivoting from your wrist is another...
Take 2 isn't disappointed in the sales. VGChartz puts Chinatown Wars at 560,000 so far.

It's only been out for 3 months. Those are good numbers for an old school, top-down GTA in the age of third-person 3D. It'll probably sell a good bit more before this year is over.
They could easily make a San Andreas-esque game (San And...
Cenobia -- You don't know how the Conduit plays, but you're sure a mouse/keyboard is better? Well, that's why you wouldn't know that doing a 180 turn is mapped to a button press (I'm not sure why you'd wanna just do a 360...kinda defeats the purpose of looking behind you). If it takes you 5 seconds to do a 180 in the Conduit, you're doing it wrong. Fact.
Anyone that plays with their arm up, pointing straight at the TV won't control a Wii FPS well. Sit unobstructed, rest your ...
MEsoJD -- Yeah, rival a mouse and keyboard. I don't see how it's idiotic. The controls are COMPLETELY customizable; you're as precise as your aim. IGN's review even made the remark about if gameplay scores were based only on the shooting controls (instead of also including the simple, linear setup for run 'n gunning), Conduit would get a perfect mark there. Metroid Prime 3 scratched the surface, but this is the payoff. It's the best controlling console FPS I've ever played. I'd put the ...
There are some great details in Conduit (the gloves, water effects, ASE, decent guns and enemy models), but some of the locales leave a lot to be desired. For my money, MP3 still looks better (and yes, looks better than some 360 titles), based on art direction alone.
