You're right from a short term perspective spending money for exclusives might not be a win, but if MS is trying to dominate the market, it is just the kind of move they would make. The best way to keep people from seeing the games are superior on PS4 is to keep the games off of PS4. I am a little afraid this gen that MS is going to spend more money than last gen to keep games off of Sony consoles because of the clear advantage. Last gen, MS did not need to do this as much (although they ...

I disagreed with your comment about PS4 having no games just so you know why I disagreed. This time of the year is almost always a drought. XB1 doesn't really have any more than the PS4. And if you count the F2P and Indies, I would dare say there is more on PS4 right now. Maybe not as many AAA exclusives, but big deal, they're coming.

Okay, this article just acts like MS can change its mind about the cloud and all of a sudden magically regain the lead in the console race. I take issue with that because to do that, MS will have to basically buy out exclusive rights like they are with Titanfall. MS can certainly do that, but it is not in the best interest of gamers for them to buy out exclusive rights to games. If Titanfall were on PS4, PS4 gamers would get the opportunity to play the game as well. It would be good for gamer...

I was wondering how he gets by with it, what with all the NDAs and all. I guess MS knows he'll go exclusive at the drop of a hat if they say anything. Kojima has always been a Sony guy, I know Metal Gear is multi-platform now, but MGS4 has PS3s and PS3 controllers lying around in the game. He's a brand guy for sure as Apple and Triumph (motorcycles for those of you who might not know) were also featured in the game. There might have been more but its been a while since I played it. Al...

I'm glad to hear the game is coming along. 30 fps has always been okay with me as long as it is solid. They could have made the game 60 fps if that was there target, but whenever you do that something has to be sacrificed. I think 30 fps is acceptable for this type of game. AC4 looked and played really well on the PS4 locked in at 30fps. I didn't really notice the fluctuating frame rate in KZ SF so as long as it is not noticeable, I'm okay with a fluctuating frame rate as well.

@truefan1 - I think its really the PC gamers that were pushing the 1080p 60fps for every game angle. This does not mean that the difference between the PS4 running a game at 1080p 60fps and the XB1 only being able to handle 30fps or 720p at 60fps is not significant. A game like TRDE and COD highlight that there is a significant power gap between the two systems that is greater than anything we saw last gen. XB fans were gloating about slight better textures and 2 or 3 frames in games last gen...

I thought the PS4 card has some optimizations, I don't think this article accounts for that. Doesn't the PS4 have 8 ACE cores vs 2 on the XB1. This might not matter for the comparison done in the article, but I have read at least 2 tech articles talking about how this will make a huge difference down the road. The 8 ACE cores and the 32 ROP cores found in the PS4 GPU are comparable to high end GPUs even if the rest of the GPU is more mid to lower range.

Your right, all these online FPS, even though different bells and whistles, are really all about the same thing. The biggest difference comes down to how many times does your match crash, how fast do you pick up matches. And can you actually stay alive against 11 year olds who have nothing better to do. I play these when there are no new good SP games out.

The article is saying its a great game, but not a game changer. This is what a lot of articles are saying. Yes there are articles that are using MS PR words like game changer and beyond expectations, but really? I don't believe the hype about this game, nor about Infamous SS, nor about The Order 1886. This hype is all the same stuff when the X360 and PS3 were new. Every new game is going to be a game changer. The reality is this game looks and plays a heck of a lot like COD. Except, there...

Devs may get xb1 games to 1080p, but I actually think that is unlikely. As PS4 tech improves it will become harder to get XB1 games to 1080p and have all the same bells and whistles as the PS4 version. This likely means xb1 games will keep the lower res in order to retain parity in other elements. After all the upscaler on the xb1 is pretty good. There is a reason MS is looking to further improve their upscaling tech.

Something doesn't seem right here, the 360 version must run at 30fps. Otherwise why would it be such a stretch to reach 1080p on XB1. That would be pretty consistent with what we saw with TRDE. Slight upgrades to current gen with either 1080p or 60fps, but not both. The PS4 advantage likely would have gotten this game to 1080p. MS is smart for buying the exclusive rights. If not this game would have just sold more PS4s. Interesting that the game they are hyping so much for XB1 could have ...

Hey I didn't put down COD, just asking about the game changing elements.

So is comparing it to COD really a compliment? I mean it's supposed to be a game changer, making that comparison just feed my suspicions that it's just another COD with Mechs and the ability to run on walls. Fun MP game, but overhyped as a game changer.

4366d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I think this is probably an honest assessment. It's going to be a fun MP game, but it can't possibly live up to the current amount of hype. Real game changers typically happen because the gamers see the value in the changes. Games pushed as game changes rarely are. You didn't see this kind of hype for Golden Eye or even Halo, which are probably the two games most responsible for the FPS we know today.

I'm actually already tired of hearing about it.

Wow, arguing about 3 hundredths of a teraflop. Don't you think this is getting ridiculous? Besides the TFs have little to do with the performance difference between the consoles. Unless MS develops a way to send everyone an expansion kit the PS4 will always have more shaders and more ROIs, and then there's the gddr5. Focus more on what the developers are doing not on the console specs, otherwise prepare to remain disappointed.

Oh come on, Titanfall has been hyped way more than the Order. At least most the Order hype is coming from gamers not PR. Either way there is always a danger in over hyping.

I think the emphasis on M rated games for adults hurts creativity. I remember the days of N64 and PS1 when games like crash bandicoot and starfox came out. The whole family could enjoy them and they were downright good games. I'm not against adult oriented games, but I would like to see games that are for the whole family again.

I am surprised we are still talking about this. The PS4 is more powerful hardware period. I know this dev thinks the XB1 will catch up, but catch up to what? XB1 2nd generation games will catch PS4 1st gen, that is most likely because the PS4 will be getting updated SDKs as well. Graphics are not the end all of systems, but the PS4 graphics, ease of development, and price point currently lead me to believe it will do slightly better than the XB1 this gen.

These kind of statements are typically not good PR moves. MS should be more reserved because even if Titanfall is a great game, these kind of statements can make the hype a whole other entity of its own. The idealized Titanfall and the realized Titanfall might meet MS expectation, but it might not meet the expectations of the gamer that buys into all the hype expecting something that is well beyond something they have ever experienced before. Let's be realistic, it is still on a screen, r...
