Most games make sacrifices for MP, it is was actually a really good way to increase response time without sacrificing a lot of image quality. Sony should not have claimed it was 1080p though. One of the reasons consoles can be optimized is because the game designers set certain targets and the press for them. If there are two targets, more has to be compromised to reach both. A game will not always run 30 fps faster because it is a lower resolution. A lot more goes into it than that. Wow, I haven't heard anyone say 1886 is underwhelming. Just some worries, which is normal for game development. Look, the game must have had major problems so they canned it. It could have been too ambitious and expensive or maybe it was just downright boring. Whatever the issue it wasn't meeting the minimum standards Sony had for the game. Is it dead for good? Probably.

Everyone is making the assumption that somehow this great game was cancelled. If development was going well, Sony would not have cancelled the project. For some reason Sony cancelled this project, either it was costing way too much or the game just wasn't coming up to standards. While hearing about a cancelled game is upsetting, it's probably best Sony pulled the plug.

I read the books and I can't recall there being a character with a major role that was extra in the movies. Sony really isn't in the business of securing 3 party games as exclusives, that's all MS. If Sony gets 3rd party exclusives it is typically because the 3rd party made the decision on their own. And that's a good thing for gamers.
It's not an issue so far with any game but this one. The game is not coded efficiently for either console. Please do not imagine this somehow means that games cannot run at 1080p on PS4. KZSF looks tons better than this and runs over 30 fps in SP. There are tons of games on PS3 and Xbox 360 that have similar problems, but are less technically impressive that UC and Gears games. What we do as consumers to prevent this is, not buy the game.
No, Uncharted does not need to be darker. It's like Indiana Jones, over the top and the good guys always make it through. Sometimes you just want the story to make you feel good, it does not always have to be about revenge over a lost love one. Uncharted, IMO, is great the way it is, TLOU is dark and dramatic, and that is great too. Uncharted needs to remain jovial and over the top.
