PlayStation owners seems to have quite nice set of games presented in gamescon 2014.
I'm looking forward:
- Hearts of Iron IV
- Paradox Interactive's "secret projects"
- Pillars of Eternity
- Civilization: Beyond Earth
- Star Citizen
I'm sure it will get mixed reviews. As Divinity: Original Sin already showed there are plenty gamers who wants hand holding and easy and effortless game experience - like Skyrim, Fallout 3, etc.
These old schoold RPGs are not going to give it and that shows in reviews.
And not to forget Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera. Very little coverage indeed which is very sad. Tells quite a lot about gaming websites as well - sad state.
At least for now Morpheus is not available other than for PS4 owners. Oculus Rift is multiplatform VR device.

@Rob_Ko: Maybe not from Ubisoft or EA who makes console games.

I would give that title for 'Divinity: Original Sin' so far.
Many very promising looking games still coming like 'Elite: Dangerous' so it's a bit too early to choose GOTY ;)
Dark Souls -series is not bad in any means but personally I think that Hack 'n' Slash gets boring very fast.
Maybe some people needs these kind of games but personally I think we would need more like S.T.A.L.K.E.R kind of "FPS" games. Not just shooting, grinding, and making simple tasks with heavy hand holding.
As the guy says in video he likes that items are easy to find and get. It is pretty much opposite what I would like to have. I think it would be much more interesting to have games with complex game play, discover world with the map you have drawn to paper with pen,...
Looks very generic shooter. What are the reasons gamers should get excited about this game?
I wouldn't have mind if the story would have been so deep and complex that it would require read the books as well.
There has been no much news about how much TW3 has hand holding; automatic maps, quest markers, etc. I'm afraid there's plenty ...
It is worth to remember that without Early Access or Kickstarter we wouldn't have many excellent games in the first place.
Unfortunately there are lots of gamers who doesn't understand what they are doing when they fund these projects. According to some studies [1] ~68% of software projects fails. Games are hardly an exception.
I'm personally more than happy about the games I have helped to fund and in near future there will be many excellent old ...
We have not even seen much about "No Man's Sky" yet. Maybe the game turns to be shallow, repetitive, etc.
While waiting how No Man's Sky turns to be, you could try:

Unfortunately even the mods doesn't rescue bad foundation. The game is still empty, shallow, repetitive, etc.
Not only Pillars of Eternity but Wasteland 2, Civilization: Beyond Earth, Xenonauts and many others.
I very much agree that D:OS is one the best RPGs for a long long time. It doesn't help - big titles like DA3 will score better and get more attention no matter of what. Big publishers, AAA-titles and console games gets most attention and highest scores by default.
Articles like these are quite funny at best. They shows me quite nicely how far mainstream ga...
Very nice. It is great to see people using and do all kind of development with Oculus Rift. DK2 should arrive soon - to me it means SteamOS + Oculus Rift.
I have not finished "Metro: Last Light" yet. Can't wait to play it on PC 2K@60.
Ouch, fighting looks very shallow. I hope it is possible to turn of all target markers and other hand holdings.
PC (Linux, Windows, OSX) is still the only platform that let me play games I care most; 4X, grand strategy, RTS, complex RPG, simulation, etc.
Resolution/FPS/graphical fidelity matters. Can't wait "The Witcher 3" 2K@60 experience.
It's funny to see people saying mobile devices are not good enough for gaming or criticize about Kickstarter and Early Access games. Still they seems to be very popular ones.
Well it is IGN - still no one word about "Divinity: Original Sin". Too complex game I guess ...
@FriedGoat: "graphics is all PC gamers have to cling onto, considering most PC games are trash, mmo, moba or muliplatform trash.
graphics is all PC gamers have to cling onto, considering most PC games are trash, mmo, moba or muliplatform trash."
Maybe you should something else - deep RPGs, simulations, RTS, 4X, grand strategy, etc. Those games requires thinking which is totally uncommon in big titles nowadays.
Unfortunately the big ...
