Is there any screenshots or gameplay videos available about how the game looks in different weather conditions?
It's a prototype. The final version from Valve will have a touch screen: http://store.steampowered.c...
As said Valve is not the only one who is going to make that controller.
It's funny how many compares it directly to console controllers without thinking that there's many genres on PC consoles doesn't have. Console controllers are unusable on many type...
I find it very hard to take 100/100 reviews seriously. I don't think any game deserves full points.
I can see myself using Steam Controller. K+M is still the best option in many cases but Steam Controller could be more comfortable for example when playing from couch.
PS and Xbox controllers are useless in games like Civ 5, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, pretty much on any RTS or even FPS games. At least it looks like Steam Controller works just fine on those types of games.
But as said, Steam Machines handles wide variety of controllers - pretty much e...
I recommend "Out of the Park Baseball 14": http://store.steampowered.c...
As a European I have never seen one game from TV - and not even interested to see one. But in the other hand simulation games are great and so is OOTP14.
> The problem is no one "wants" to play games on their mobile.
Isn't much nicer to use tablet/mobile phone for gaming than huge devices like PS or Xbox? Attach tablet/mobile phone to TV and start playing with K+M or a controller.
Linux products; Tizen, Android, ChromeOS, webOS, SteamOS, ...
Of course Valve's new information about Steam Machines and SteamOS is going to be very interesting. Can't wait.
@d3nworth1: "A controller may not be the best for all genres but it works for all genres."
Not quite :) ... anything a bit more complicated and console controller is totally useless. Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, etc. Steam Controller may work.
@MysticStrummer:
"I have. Give me a controller all day."
Just for interest, which strategy games have you played with a controller?
As many has already said Steam Machines are just normal PCs.
One thing you can do with Steam Machine+SteamOS is that you can remove the hard disk and use it with any other PC you like. You can use that hard disk as external HDD by using dock and use SteamOS from there.
Nice to see the guy being excited about SteamOS and for a good reason. Sure, it will take time to get SteamOS market share any big numbers but I believe it will happen eventually. PC is getting better and better as a gaming platform. Nice.
I have installed SteamOS to USB HDD and to USB stick. I'm able to use both installations on all of my PCs (and friends of course) without problems - very flexible.
Yes, it's based on Debian stable and you are able to use torrent clients if you like.
The desktop is old. It's GNOME 3.4 with weird settings, huge fonts and without most of the GNOME applications.

GNOME 3.12 will be released Mar 26 2014.

> I don't like the controller, i prefer thumbsticks personally.
It depends what kind of games you like to play. Thumbstick controller are useless in games like Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis 4 and alike. To me Steam Controller look better for FPS games than thumbstick but I doubt it could beat keyboard+mouse.
Unless Valve removed support for XBox or PS controllers they works without problems.
I guess it depends what kind of games you like to play. It looks like Steam Controller works well with games like Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, Civilization, etc. like keyboard+mouse does. To me Steam Controller looks better for FPS than console controller although keyboard+mouse is still unbeatable choice. Personally I have found console controllers good for platformers and FIFA.
Unfortunate delay but fortunately not too much to wait. This game alone makes PC gaming incredible.
Sure, but a dock could be to give power and provide more connectors. Anyway the point is that a mobile device in the future could replace a current form of console device. Easily.
Nice to have more games but unfortunately they are going to be Windows exclusives.
What about Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II ?

There's no better RPGs for PS3 or Xbox 360 - The Witcher 2 is great, tho.
Mobile devices are perfectly fine to run great games even today and in couple of years they are going to be amazing. It's pos...
Steam Machine is a PC. You can buy and install Windows on it as well.
Steam Machines runs SteamOS as default and they are able to run any Linux applications. I'm running Minecraft and Unreal World RPG on my SteamOS. I have bootable SteamOS + games installation on USB stick too.
You can use SteamOS for example to development work; games or compile Linux kernel [1]
