"I think because the SNES vs. SEGA war was the first of its kind. That was the first time gamers were ever arguing over which system was better."
I'm quite sure that wasn't first the time. Amiga 500 vs Atari ST was quite heated as well - of course those computers were not just for gaming.
It would have been interesting to know how he likes more complex games; Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, Crusader Kings, 4X games, etc.
I got totally bored to Skyrim in 10 hours but I definitely should give mods a try some day (of course I already had some mandatory to fix UI etc.)
According to comments these are not mods that should be used. Where could I find a better list?
Edit:
@EL Lanf: Sorry wasn't meant to be a reply
Looks quite nice. I would like to see the game developed for a proper gaming PC in mind - GTX 780Ti with OpenGL 4.4 support.
I truly hope they still have modding capabilities in PC version. The community has done quite incredible work with GTA IV.
2k@60-120 on PC - can't wait.
Civilization 5 was a bit weak at launch but with expansions and DLCs it has got much better.
It is nice to see how the release made SteamOS even more stronger. SteamOS has many incredible strategy/manager PC titles already; Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis 4, Civilization 4, Civilization 5, Football Manager 2014, OOTP15, etc.
Bioware is way too much into romances, unless the target market is teenagers and MTV consumers.
Tons of great games. I like GOG a lot but nowadays I buy games only from Steam. Running DRM-free games on totally closed operating system is no win (fortunately many games runs in Linux with DOSBox).
Additionally Valve is pushing open technologies forward (OpenGL, open source, ...). So until GOG starts to support Linux and push technologies like OpenGL forward I will buy games from Valve.
Especially when you play PC games with them. Analog sticks are useless in many types of games.
I think difficulty of Souls-series are way over exaggerated. Anyone who has played games from 80s knows it.
AAA -games are way too easy so it is good to have at least some games that tries to bring difficultiness back to bigger titles.
I guess that's up to Sony. I don't think Oculus/Facebook has anything against the idea that PS4 gamers could use Oculus Rift as too.
@IceKoldKilla: How about attaching mobile phone to TV and using keyboard + mouse?
Mobile devices has already great games like Baldur's Gate series and King of Dragon Pass.
@Volkama: It's funny that so many people thinks that mobile gaming would mean playing from 5" screen.
Mobile phone or tablet could replace console easily. They can be attached to TVs already and they have a support for controllers and even wireless keyboard and mouse.
To me it looks like gamers underestimates mobile devices for no good reasons.
I'm using my own "Steam Machine" as my main gaming rig at the moment and so far I have been very impressed.
SteamOS is flexible and all but limited. I have it on my USB stick with couple games I like so I can turn any PC as "Steam Machine". Computers like Intel NUC are getting powerful enough for gaming. They already provides console experience.
Streaming is yet an another step. I wouldn't be surprised if we are able to stream game...
@UltimateMaster: In the end "Infamous Second Son" was all about visuals and story. Unfortunately the city was totally dead with dumb AI. It is possible that Watch Dogs uses much more resources to city itself and give it "a life".
I recommend to buy this game for PC and you will get 2k@60 experience with much better visual. Modders will make it even more beautiful in future.
How different is this compared to Carmack's "Megatextures" / OpenGL GL_ARB_sparse_texture ?
http://www.opengl.org/regis...
Definitely. The difference is huge. Once you have played a game with 60fps there is no going back to 30fps.
After Dark Souls 2 it is painful to play Dark Souls 1 - fortunately there's is 60fps patch on PC.
I would recommend to buy a better graphics card. 2k/4k and 60/120fps with better visuals on Watch Dogs and other games is simply much better experience.
Linux + Steam + UT4 installation on USB stick. Play everywhere.
Hmmh, easily PC (SteamOS if possible) for me. 2k@60 + NVidia effects (APEX, etc.) + support for Oculus Rift + ...
I like the idea a lot. It is still a bit too early for this kind of consoles but they are definitely not far a way anymore. As seen latest Qualcomm's and NVidia's mobile (and Apple's) chips it is quite impressive how powerful they already are.
Considering OUYA uses outdated NVidia chip it is not too bad. OUYA can already do more than other consoles: http://tuomas....
"... and they offer something for every gamer ..."
I don't think that is quite true. The problem with consoles to me is that they are lacking of many genres; RTS, 4X, simulation games, grand strategy, etc.
PC has had always games from very wide range of genres as it has today. Sure, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, etc. has been huge titles.
