Early Access and Kickstarter model is excellent. I personally think that the problem are gamers who doesn't understand what they are doing.

DayZ developers even write on their Steam page:
"We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle."

... but unfortunately there are plenty of gamers who still bu...

I would recommend you "Divinity: Original Sin" if you want really great RPG game. No hand holding, no quest markers, tactical fighting, etc.

At least in this video DA3 doesn't look impressive at all. Plain awful action based fighting. Unfortunately it didn't show how it would look in "tactical mode".

Lots of hand-holding, quest markers, etc. that ruins the experience. I hope they can be switched off.

"Divinity: Original Sin" set bar very high. According to this video DA3 is not going to get even near ...

I think the biggest problem is that consoles are lacking of games from certain genres; RTS, simulation, 4X, grand strategy, complex RPGs, etc.

D:OS gets good reviews for a good reason. Larian Studios has done impressive work.

There's companies that makes extremely good games like Paradox Development Studio but PC gamers are very lucky to have Kickstarter and Early Access.

Divinity: Original Sin is just plain excellent. No hand holding, quest pointers or other simplifications that RPGs nowadays has.

If you are going to buy PC I would suggest you to check other games as well; Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity.
Not to forget Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV, Hearts of Iron IV, UrW, Galactic Civilizations III, etc.

I'm afraid this game is going to be yet another straightforward game "for everyone".

Sounds fine but I don't have huge expectations for any AAA games anymore. Trying to make game for everyone makes them feel - plain. Hand holding, simplified gameplay, easy games, etc. Hype makes situation even worse. I hope The Division is exception of course.

More complex RPGs are already on the way; Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity. Divinity: Original Sin was an excellent start (

Yeah, hand holding makes most of the bigger titles very boring experiences. But it is understandable that games are tried to be sold for as many people as possible - hand holding and simplified games are price for that. Unfortunately.

As long as gamers buy huge AAA titles they will be produced. It seems people wants simple and straightforward games nowadays. Games like Skyrim, Far Cry, Thief 4, etc. are easy to anyone to access and play - lots of hand holding, simple and straightforward games.

PC gamers are more lucky. Fortunately there are still excellent games being made for PC; complex and versatile grand strategy games, 4X; Civilizations, Galactic Civilizations, simulations, deep and complex RPGs; Orig...

I have played 15h so far and the game is all I hoped for. Simply put it is excellent.

Not hand holding dumped down Skyrim or hack 'n' slash Dark Souls -experience.

And more to come; Wayland 2 and Pillars of Eternity

I like complex games like King of Dragon Pass, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis and other grand strategy games. I have not found a reason to get interested about simple story driven game like TLoU. What makes TLoU so good I should buy PS and play it?

"Mobile games will never have depth"

One could say those games alone has much more depth than any current PS4 or XBox One has (or PS3 / XBox 360).

Uncharted 4 may look nice in a tech demo but maybe it would be time to choose something great, complex and game worth of >1000h.

UC4 could be GOTY for PS4 of course.

@GameSpawn: "What made me change? Ease of use."

Fortunately things has changed drastically. SteamOS or even Windows 8 + Steam Big Picture gives you console experience what comes to easy of use.

To me PC is clear choice because of games/genres it has. Simulations, RTS, 4X, grand strategy, deep RPGs, FPS with keyboard+mouse, etc.
Of course modding capability, additional software for games, flexible HW choices (Intel NUC to big cases), graphica...

There are many excellent games for mobile devices already. Some could say better games than PS4 or XBox One has.

If console gamers would be interested about performance and graphical fidelity they would have switched to PC already.

"The Tegra 4 *just* outperforms the 360 GPU... a piece of desktop hardware like 8 years older."

Tegra 4 is outdated. There are much better SoC already in the market. Transition to ARMv8 is just started and they are still using slow LPDDR3 memory. Much faster and energy efficient LPDDR4 is going to be used in near future.

Interesting, but still very early. Mobile and STB -gaming has not even started yet. It's good to see a big momentum to push technologies and platforms forward.

Mobile devices has already some quite incredible games already, though; Hearthstone, Baldur's Gate series, King of Dragon Pass, etc. Some could say they are better games than any consoles has ...

I don't personally understand why FC3 is so much praised. Highly repetitive, silly story with irritating MTV reality-TV characters, blinking objects, awful console UI, etc.

Is it "mobile gaming" if I attach my phone or table to TV and play games with a controller or even mouse+keyboard?

Mobile devices has already some excellent games like Baldur's Gate series and King of Dragon Pass. I think there is no better RPGs available for any consoles.

The article/blog post looks very shortsighted to me ...
