Well, Molyneux has done a lot on his own to taint his legacy. The man's influential to be sure, but he doesn't do himself any favors. If he spent more time producing and less time talking, he'd be much less hated in the gaming community. Chris Roberts and Richard Garriot are MASSIVE omissions, though.

It wasn't so much a fluke as it was that Sony was kind of unfocused last gen. But Sony learned MASSIVELY from their mistakes last gen, while MS tried to reinvent the wheel while at the same time trying to screw over consumers. We're smarter gamers now and decided to go with the smarter company this new gen.
DRM, trying to phase out digital media, the focus on media over gaming, the still narrow genre selection over PS4... I would have bought a PS4 over the XB1 anyway just because of what it DOESN'T do, let alone the features it does have.
Agreed on all counts. I for the life of me can't imagine why anyone would say the DS4 feels cheap. The plastic is harder than the DS3's, the triggers have been MASSIVELY upgraded, it has both an internal speaker and a jack for headsets and it has the touchpad. Oh, and the SHARE button, and we know how much use THAT is getting from the community. It has more features than the XB1 controller, which is basically just the X360 controller with a few tweaks.
I don't know if it "won" the launch, but Warframe IS definitely the F2P game with the biggest value by far. I've found the game immensely fun.
Just the fact that the PS4 launched with Playstation Plus already well-established made it a MUCH BETTER value than the PS3 at launch, and it not only has loads of exclusives and excellent multiplats on the way, many of those exclusives are new IPs by quality development teams. Plus, the much friendlier architecture of the PS4 (as opposed to the Cell Processor, which was notoriously hard to develop for) and excellent hardware means developers are much more excited to work on games for it than...
I think it's more important for there to be a STABLE frame rate than a high one. A 30fps game can play just as well as a 60fps one as long as that frame rate doesn't dip.
That said, there's certain genres in which the highers frame rate is more essential, like multiplayer-oriented FPSs and fighting games.

And adding my two cents, Metroid, out of all of Nintendo's franchises, is the one that caters to adult gamers the most and which would most showcase what the system would be capable of in terms of hardware. As great as Mario and Zelda are, they're nowhere near showcasing the system graphically. Metroid's much more realistic aesthetic would be much more awe-inducing. H3ll, play the first Metroid Prime right now, it still looks amazing decades after.

I would literally buy a Wii-U just for Metroid. And I wouldn't do that for any other game on any other system. And I'm a friggin' Sony fan, I haven't bought a Nintendo system since the Gamecube. If it was Metroid PRIME, I'd spontaneously travel back in time and buy it launch day.
One caveat, though: the game CANNOT reference Other M. As far as I'm concerned, that piece or shit never happened. Hell, I'm flabbergasted that Other M is canon and Metroi...

-With all three games so far, we get a complete three arc story between Batman and The Joker: beginning, the heat of it and ending.
-Awesome incarnations of all of Batman's greatest foes with none of them being lame or out of character. They managed to make Calendar Man creepy, Mad Hatter entertaining and disturbing and The Riddler a genuine threat. That's saying...
PS+ has a few HUNDRED games head start there, buddy. It's a great lineup this month to be sure, but they still have a lot of catching up to do.

I'm a Sony customer and am more than happy with PS Plus' Instant Game Collection, but I must say that that's an excellent list of free games. Good to see MS finally stepping up, competition is good for all of us gamers. Congrats.
