Exactly my point. There's engines that are better made and more well established, and which probably are not as expensive to license out, either. Unreal Engine by now is rock-solid and pretty much the industry standard, and even if I mocked Titanfall for using an engine as old as Source, the fact remains that Source is possibly the most stable engine around, and a favorite of both developers and the gaming community, as the popularity of Garry's Mod proves.
CryEngine ...
Wait, you mean to tell me that a game engine that is a notorious system hog with stability issues and which the games made with it are nothing but glorified tech demos is being overlooked in favor of more well-established engines? SHOCKING!
Microsoft CAN'T buy Capcom. They have a clause that only a Japanese company can make an offer. That said, I think Bandai Namco is the best bet. They're the Japanese company that are in the best position financially and leadership-wise. Sega recently bought Atlus, so they're in no position to buy them, Konami is on the same boat as Capcom, and Sony underwent restructuring, so they'll focus on themselves for a while.
If Bandai Namco does buy them out, I'm PR...
My choices for returning franchises:
-Crash Bandicoot
-Syphon Filter
-Jumping Flash
-Legend Of Dragoon
-Wild Arms
-Medievil
-Twisted Metal
-Warhawk
-Siren
-Parappa The Rapper
Ugh, people are STILL complaining there's no AAA titles for PS4? The system's not even a year old. We'll start seeing AAA around the anniversary mark, when launch window games are not selling anymore. Games like Killzone and Black Flag are still selling because the system came out recently. When Sony releases a Plus title, it's because the company that made the game believes they already made as many sales as they'll wver get for that game on the system and believe the mon...
There's always growing pains when you do something as drastic and all-encompassing as restructuring, but the Playstation brand will come out strong from this. Slow and steady, Sony will get rid of all the divisions that are dead weight around their neck and come out on top, and we gamers stand to win from this.
And as always, classy Kaz is classy.
Right on the money. He doesn't realize that he's on the winning side of this particular equation.
Since Phil Fish retired from the gaming industry, he should kindly shut the fuck up and not opine on anything gaming-related.
I swear, Phil Fish and Peter Molyneux make me want to punch them til they shit chunks of lung every time they open their mouth.
@SweatyFlorida Exactly, Japan is slowly becoming a non-factor in gaming, and the XB1 is doomed to failure there more out of xenophobic knee-jerk reaction than the consoles merits or lack thereof. Neither MS nor Activision will sweat too much the decision.
I dunno, I just feel like there's been a MASSIVE dumbing down of the average Japanese gamer. Except for some hardcore franchises and games from companies like Atlus and From, Japanese gaming is basically for the Japanese...
Loadout's F2P too? Well hail Jesus and pass the peanuts! :)
People act like Direct X12 and every other thing that's meant to raise the XB1's performance is supposed to be like spinach for Popeye and supercharge the system into this mindblowing piece of machinery. Hardware always trumps software, no firmware or development tool update will ever cause a massive shift in performance.
I DO have to give Phil Spencer all the props in the world for being realistic and honest, just like you guys have mentioned. A more honest leader fo...
What's got me excited is the huge amount of F2P stuff on the way, making the PS4 a more amazing value for the money with each one that comes out. This year we'll have Deep Down and Onigiri, and we already have War Thunder and Warframe, which has gotten SO MUCH BETTER after the latest updates, it runs so much smoother and fast and furious now! Playing a Survival mission in Warframe is one of the most ridiculously intense experiences in gaming right now. They made player characters a bi...
Oh, that's right, he only worked for Capcom on Killer 7, my bad :/ The other ones do apply, though, and my point still stands that Capcom are shitty people.
@Inception Your English may need a little work, but your logic is flawless, my friend. There's a creative crisis in Japan, and we're seeing many of its greatest talents going the indie route and catering to the West, since Japanese companies are seriously undervaluing them. Companies like Capcom, Konami, Square Enix and Sega are falling fast.
I've never seen a company as disgustingly abusive of their employees as Capcom. Legendary creators have given the best years of their life to make some of the most beloved games in history and they overwork them, cancel projects they've slaved years over, outsource games while taking them out of their hands and get vindictive when they quit on them after all that abuse. I mean, shit, so far, they've lost Shinji Mikami, Hideki Kamiya, Suda51 and Keiji Inafune, and now they've l...
I actually tend to play female characters in games in which you can create your own. My Dragonborn, Shepard, Grey Warden and Boss of The Saints are all fems, and the Souls series is not an exception. I'm actually wondering if the extra animation they were talking about includes different walking animation or emotes for the females, that'd be boss.
I disagree on Crash and Spyro, since I'd like brand-new entries on both of them, and Super Mario 64's already been done to death. Chrono Trigger will never happen because Squeenix hates us.
I'm not underestimating the Wii-U, NINTENDO is. Seriously, Nintendo have to finally pull the trigger and start giving us the games we want. Sure, this year's E3 conference was better than their usual fare, but come on, they left STARFOX out of the conference and instead showed it on the floor? What retardation is this? And I will insist til the day I die: No Metroid = no purchase for me.
Gave you a bubble for the well-received concise info.
This is actually a damn good list, and each title represents flaws that are common in modern games. The most disappointing was definitely Watch Dogs, since that one's the lone new IP on the list, but the other ones hurt too. Castlevania has pretty much been a dead franchise since Iga left, Elder Scrolls should never be online (unless it's jump-in coop like in the many fanmade mods made for it) and Thief REALLY hurt me, since it was one of the crown jewels for Ion Storm, and I wanted i...
