Wow... On numbers alone, Nintendo's showing was pitiful. MS and Sony are pretty much neck-to-neck, though Sony was able to add a lot on upcoming hardware and features to their conference, which I think was a wise choice to save for this E3 instead of last year's. MS had some great exclusives, though(Sunset Overdrive looks awesome).
I want the same people who made Strider to make a new Gargoyle's Quest/Demon's Crest. Demon's Crest on the SNES is one of that system's unsung gems.
@Lawboy2 Wow, dude, you actually offer a really interesting perspective: a mainstream gamer who wants to expand his horizons into indie gaming. That's actually a good attitude, I commend you.
We should give him suggestions on awesome indie games he should try:
-GUACAMELEE: Wait a little before you get it, cause the special edition is coming soon and it adds BUTT-LOADS of new content, but definitely check Guacamelee out, it's a Metroidvania game with loads of h...
You need to take your Ritalin, kid.
My theory is that not only will there be loads of new characters, the game will also be like MK9 in that it'll be a remake of previous stories. I think it'll cover MK4, Deadly Alliance and Deception. Liu Kang's dead, so Raiden needs a new champion, so I'm pretty sure Kai will be in the game, and I'm betting Kenshi and Ermac's story will be a big part of the story too.
Yeah, it's not like the most impressive game in E3 was an indie game or anything. #NoMansSky
If the game comes out before the end of the year, it'll be the first TRUE new-gen fighting game! It'll definitely be a shot in the arm for the genre. WAR HARADA, WAR TEKKEN!! :D
Umm, isn't StarFox coming out next year?
First of all, MS didn't "steal" anything, Insomniac is a second party, which means Sony doesn't own them but they create exclusive games for their systems out of a good business relationship. Second of all, Insomniac still works with Sony, there's an upcoming Ratchet and Clank game. Third, well, yeah, I think I WILL go play some indie games, like the most impressive game in E3, NO MAN'S SKY.
Stop being delusional. It's not hating to point out tha...
The 900p resolution I can get, since the game's cartoony graphics wouldn't benefit much from the extra pixels, but 30fps?? I don't wanna sound like a hater, but the game's graphics don't look taxing enough to warrant both lower resolution AND lower framerate. I hope this is a temporary thing and the game gets a higher framerate when it's closer to launch, cause this would be a lot of egg on MS's face, that arguably their most awaited exclusive is both low in resolu...
Nintendo showed 100% exclusive content cause that's all they've got. The third parties have basically given up on giving them multiplats, and by sheer numbers Sony and Microsoft still have a massive lead on them gamewise.
Now you've got two, buddy.
Pretty much agree 100%. Nintendo would have done MUCH better if they had revealed StarFox in the conference itself and added Metroid or F-Zero to sweeten the deal, but they did reasonably well. Sony was batting them out, and even though it kinda dragged in the middle, they ended on a hell of a high note. Plus, to all the people saying Sony's hypocritical for talking about TV and non-gaming programming, well, Sony's non-gaming offerings are optional and they came after they've alre...
First of all, the most linear game ever is Super Mario Bros. Get from point a to point b. I see no one complaining.
And linearity in gaming is not a bad thing if the gameplay's fun and it allows for tighter storytelling(see Uncharted). Final Fantasy 13's linearity was a detriment because RPGs thrive on open gameplay, and that even though it was linear, the story was a goddamn mess.
Nope, Sonya and Cage are the ONLY TWO of Raiden's chosen warriors to survive the game. And holy crap, if their daughter is at fighting age in this game, it means there's EASILY a gap of at least 20 years between MK9 and MKX. A LOT of crap cold have happened in that interval.
Edit: SCRATCH THAT, Ed Boon himself confirms the gam starts where MK9 left off and covers a TWENTY-FIVE YEAR SPAN! Holy shit!!! :D
I don't give Nintendo any credit lately. I'll believe theres a new StarFox on the way when I see it at E3, no rumor's gonna get me excited.
And if it's true, hey, awesomeWHERE'S METROID NINTENDO??
Well, if you're a Dark Souls fan, Bloodborne is a HUGE reason to switch, I think, and Sony just always has a better exclusives lineup overall. LittleBigPlanet 3 and Grim Fandango were WAY out of left field, too. LBP3 was a given, but not many people expected it to be shown on E3, and Grim Fandango, holy fuck.
One thing I did notice, though: no The Last Guardian. I'm assuming that one's dead in the water now.
Great conference. Mostly solid showings of upcoming games(the Batman and Destiny trailers were awesome), great showcase of exclusives, great info on the upcoming services and two BIG surprises in LittleBigPlanet 3 and Grim Fandango. Grim Fandango was totally out of left field and friggin' FLOORED me, there was much loud cheering worldwide over that announcement.
Most excited for:
-LittleBigPlanet 3
-Bloodborne(A NEW SOULS GAME!)
-Batman
-De...
If it's not Fallout, I'm not interested.
I chuckle every time I see Nintendo's exclusives number, since that's ALL they've got. And honestly, what the hell was wrong with Nintendo? They had loads more games than they let on but didn't show them on the conference. StarFox should have been FRONT AND CENTER in the Digital Event.
