CoD didn't invent the upgrade system, and it is something expected in most shooters nowadays anyways.
Killstreaks, fine, but they are done differently than CoD.
Having one or two similarities doesn't mean the game is mimicking something else.
I can just as easily list two similarities with HalfLife deathmatch: Being able to carry more than 2 weapons at the same time + alternate fire modes
Mimic CoD?
R3 has more similarities to HalfLife than it does to CoD.
EA showcasing their game > Sony showcasing their game
U2/U3 still uses pre-rendered CGI though in some cutscenes (usually the ones during loading) and they are somewhat better looking than the realtime cutscences.
MGS4 on the other hand is just pure in-engine.
... but then again, MGS has been doing it in-engine since MGS1.
Brink's mechanics (on paper) weren't exactly bad, nor was it similar to MirrorsEdge.
The game just failed to deliver on the promise (especially with the laggy online at launch), but the promise itself wasn't bad.
Either ways, I don't recall them blaming console piracy for Brink's failure. You got a source for that?
... and your 'worth' values given to games is just subjective.
I'd never have bought HeavyRain for $60 when...
"What online service does PC have, Steam? That's an online video game store."
... err, it's a bit more than that.
You can use steam's features (such as in-game web browser, chat, etc) on more or less any game.
There's also services that do the same thing such as Xfire.
As for XBLive, the paid subscription is one of the things that has always deterred me from buying an xbox. I'm fine with paying premium for a premi...
It happened in the PS1/N64 generation.
It happened even before that.
You just didn't have a popular medium for people to anonymously behave like retards.
"6670 is 2 generations ahead of the 4870.
The 6670 is more powerful."
That made my brain hurt.
You're comparing cards of a different series (X600 vs X800), so you need to take that into account.
... they can just copy the model used on PCs.
i.e. each game is registered to your XBL account.
So, while currently you only have online passes that restrict the online portion of the game, you'll have passes just to play the game to begin with.
Well, I was under the impression that Elite subscriptions weren't even available on PC.
There's elite subscribers on the PC?
O.o
Even more ridiculous that those gamers then go on to platinum it while broken.
o.o
Well, to be fair, the final battle of UC1 wasn't all that different either.
It was just a quicktime event for the most part.
" I love PC gaming. Many of my best friends are PC games."
:D
Asside from that, I guess I agree with most of the article.
Well, even for PS3 games they make highly detailed character models then convert the detail to maps on a lower poly model.

@Gillri
I'll partially agree about the MP bit, however, there aren't that many good ThirdPersonShooter multiplayer games (or well, not as much as FPS ones)
Uncharted's mechanics make for an interesting MP experience and it doesn't feel too out of place.
AssassinsCreed is also in the same boat. It didn't need a multiplayer portion, but they managed to make one that fits in with the universe, is unique and, most importantly, is fun. ...
According to that youtube channel, the operation was seized by fed agents or something.
Then again, Anonymous isn't really any defined organization, and the main group that actually does these kind of things (AnonOps) wasn't affiliated with this 'OpSony'.
"As great as it would be for the companies to get along, I just don't see it happening :("
Sony and Microsoft do more than just make competing consoles.
Just because they both produce a console doesn't mean they're bitter enemies.
Yea, the ending is really the only thing that soured my experience.
The visuals/atmosphere was well done and it looked like the story was finally about to pick up and go somewhere but nope, game ends in the middle of nonsensical plan.
... It's a battle between two stubborn groups.
The 'hardcore' fans want the game to be a certain way, but the developers are doing their own thing.
I guess I'm on the side of the fans considering I don't like the direction the game is going in; it is slower paced, and judging from the preview vids, the main character lacks the charm of the old Dante.
All in all, I'd rather they just made a new IP and did things their w...
