If the move to the Epic launcher turns Rocket League into an inferior product with the loss of steam workshop (without a better replacement) or loss of linux support, then that's not going to garner any good will.
Neither will it help Epic's battle against Steam if all they end up doing is highlighting how limited their platform is while pissing off RocketLeague's PC player base.

It's not the same thing.

Making a new account is free.
You have to pay $10 for this... well, except for the first spin I guess.

I wonder what they use to practice in the rain, or what they use for the other 9 out of 12 tracks in the blancpain series that aren't even in GTSport.

Obviously #1 will go to Knack 2 baybee!

Though I'm surprised by NierAutomata being so low. It's easily in my top 3 for the year.

Isn't that what Ubisoft did with Rainbow Six Seige? A cheap version with an unbearable grind to unlock more classes, or a more expensive version with them unlocked. Granted, I think even the more expensive version still has cosmetic MT, not sure since I never bought the game.
I don't think this gives the publishers the same amount of profit, because they're only getting $10-20 once, whereas microtransactions allows them to make a lot more than 20$ from some players.

@Christopher
Godmars made the argument that microtransactions were bad because they exploit an addictive trait.
I disagreed with that specific argument, because if this guy - who's lost over 10k because of addiction - is a reason to take action on microtransactions (regulation, etc), then similarly the people who lose their youth (or worse) because of videogame addiction are a reason to take similar action.
I'm not defending microtransactions, I am disagreei...

@Godmars290 "1) It is still the enabling and exploitation of additive traits. "

Role-playing games tend to make it easy to level up in the beginning and then it progressively takes longer and longer. This is a way of exploiting people with addictive traits, and other games use other techniques to hook people into playing their games for longer. Some people unfortunately end up ruining their lives.

Are we going to start regulating game design bec...

That is a poor example. Gambling takes on a different picture when the reward is money, and isn't the same as when the reward is some item with no inherent value.

When the reward is money, there is a cycle which people can get trapped in, where any winnings are just placed into more bets.
For example, if someone plays a slot machine and wins a cash prize, they're likely going to spend their winnings by playing more slots in the hopes of getting more cash pr...

"All of the people that say video games are evil are the same guys pushing for NN"

Trump has tweeted about video game violence being responsible for creating monsters.
Meanwhile, people like Jim Sterling are for keeping NN.

You're a 6 hour old account with a clear agenda to push, and gamers aren't naive enough to bite it.
Because gamers know that big corporations are only interested in fattening their own pockets - we g...

Not sure why PUBG got a GOTY nomination when it isn't even released yet.
Would've liked to see NieR there instead.

Still, 2017 has been a phenomenal year, and it's nice to see so many single-player games on the GOTY list.

All EA did was ask them to stop distributing their game client and make it clear that they aren't officially associated with the EA. Both of which seem like reasonable requests.
There's nothing that says to stop hosting the servers.

It seems like the revive team wanted an excuse to stop hosting the servers, and got an way out by painting EA as the bad guys - a narrative that gamers are all too eager to eat up.

I've been resorting to hiding the ghost (R3 on the controller) when it gets too close, and then un-hiding it once it's further away.
Though, now I just permanently hide the ghost and use the time-gap info above the tachometer, and the sector info from the MFD.

It is not a spin off, it is the next full iteration of Gran Turismo. Kaz has said that they could have called it GT7.
When asked about the traditional and classic parts of prior GT games in GTS, this was his response during an interview in June:
"Gran Turismo Sport is actually going to contain more features than any other game in the series to date. Nothing has been dropped, things have only been added. Whether it be the campaign mode, or the offline gameplay, or the o...

^ He laid it all on the line a week ago, when he ranked his favorite GT games, and ranked GTS as his #1.

To be fair, all the ingredients are there in GTS. It's just lacking content which can be supplemented later, and the content that is currently there is just poorly showcased.
For example, currently the Gr.3 race in sports mode is on a short oval track and unpredictably turns into chaos. It's going to be this way for a week until PD refreshes it. If they ...

That article is from 2015.
There is an interview with Kaz in 2016 when he says that GTSport might as well have been named GT7 because it is the next full iteration of the GT series.

I did find it funny that the subtitle to that article says that Sony is confident that GTS will be out in 2016.

The driving experience is bundles of fun - even more so than what I remember from the previous GT games.
To the point that I actually enjoy the endurance race (against AI) because time just flies, whereas I thought they were a bit of a drag in the previous games.

The online is also well done, but currently the Sports Mode is set so that there are only three races for an entire week, and that can get boring playing the same three races.

The review...

How can it literally have everything the previous games had when the previous games had a much larger selection of tracks & cars, dynamic time of day, and weather?

Sport mode is also not comparable to the old GT mode at all.
GT Mode had you starting with a cheap car, and then grind upwards by progressively upgrading and tuning the car, and then moving on to faster cars.
Sports Mode has you repeatedly playing the same three races for a week against onli...

According to an official playstation blog, it's to "ensure that progress, car availability, and driver ratings are properly maintained at all times."
It's one of the strange design decisions, along with requiring an internet connection to play the single-player campaign or to use the livery/photo editor.

This shouldn't be an issue as long as the servers remain online, and they have been stable for the most part. But it is annoying when everyth...

It's actually three races a week. They changed every day in the demo, but it appears that the full game only has them change every week.

I really hope this is just temporary while the game is launching and being rolled it. It would be nice to see more than three daily events, preferably one event for each car classes.

They haven't clarified whether the DLC will be paid or not. Just that there will be DLC.

I found the controls work very well with the controller.
There is even an option to use the motion-sensors in the controller as a racing wheel. It sounds like a gimmick, but it works quite well too (better than it did in Driveclub).
