Heh, like the Horseless Horseman in TF2? :D
I wonder how much attention Homefront would get.
It seems killing american civillians is fine as long as an american is doing it (whats GTA all about again?). It's when a foreign group gets involved that people react.
MoH got the ire of the media for having the 'Taliban' in the multiplayer. Let's see how this one plays out...
Well, they're alternating development teams.
So in reality, it's almost 2-years worth of work per release, which is a decent amount of development time.
All activision is doing is capitalizing on the name, because more people will buy a game with an established name (such as CoD) whereas if sledgehammer made their own FPS, it wouldn't sell as much.
It's a way to give a developper more exposure, while at the same time banking the sales. It's...
Seems from the comments that people didn't even bother reading the actual "interview."
Is there even any console game that has subscription? They might pull it off with some MMO on the PC, but I don't see it happening on the PC.
Activision has already said that all the CoD games (up to BlackOps) will not have any subscription system.
Though the new "virtual money" system they have in BO looks suspiciously like a pr...
Was the list for any specific gaming system?
I'd put Amnesia on it if it includes the PC. The game got good reviews, but not enough attention as it deserves.
Stalker:CallOfPripyat could also make it for that matter... =/
I don't get how an over-saturated market is reason to dislike one game series.
FPS genre has always been over-saturated, this isn't anything new.
If anything, I'm grateful that at-least Activision releases only one CoD each year. EA has released BC2 and MoH, while announcing two new Battlefield (you missed Battlefield3 in your list) games thus far. The majority of those games are being done by one developer too. THAT's saturation.
When...
No that isn't skill either since you're abusing a flaw in the game design, not a core game mechanic. Something the devs should've patched but didn't.
Most people who've played competitive FPS will say that faster controls are more indicative of skill since the game boils down to reflexes (i.e. quick and precise hand-eye co-ordination).
Then there's the other group that says slower controls are more tactical since the game boils down to placemen...
113 ms... thats still a bit weighty for me. Ah well.
Although improvements are always possible through patches, they just aren't likely. Can always hope though. =)
@toaster - BlackOps is using VAC (it requires steamworks)
Hmm, do games like Quake/UT count as future?
Industry's coming to almost a complete circle it seems. =)
You mean the single-player or the multi-player blowing up?
I expect the SP to be decent...
The multiplayer of MW2 wasn't that bad, it's just the abusive community it attracted that caused it to pretty much get aggravating.
As for the multiplayer in BlackOps, I think it has good chances of dominating on the PC FPS domain since PCs have dedicated servers and so some good admin support would get rid of douchebags. (though there is always that one case wh...
The handgun with the zoom-in was pretty over the top.
>.<
Although I think Agent47 (Hitman series) deserves an honorable mention.
In BloodMoney they have dual-wielding silverballers with, what was it, silencers, laser sights, AND an acog scope... not to mention extended mags.
Oh how they were so absurdly fun to use.
Well, if you include Metro, then you might as well throw the two Half-Life games into the mix too.
=)
Looks like the list just about covers it. (Asside from Penumbra/Amnesia as already mentioned earlier)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl (a PC game) is also quite scary, although it isn't mainly intended as one. Venturing into labs X18 and X16 is an adventure I dread in every playthrough. =/
Though the idea of horror itself is subjective... I actually found F.E.A.R. to be hilarious. =x
Isn't that the same with most IP anyways?
Or rather, since we're on the topic of shooters... with any FPS game in general since the vast majority are just clones?
The core elements of the game might be the same, but Trey has added quite a bit of new elements onto the game. Isn't that how a series is supposed to go?
GoogleOS mainly appeals to the social-networking crowd who only use a computer to browse the web. Unless if all you do is play farmville, Google/ChromeOS isn't for you.
Ofcourse, the social-networking crowd is a sizeable one, but until they learn about online apps (they exist, but it's unlikely that they'll find them on their own), they'll stick to what they know, and thats a Mac.
The fact that companies make software primarily for windows is why people use Windows.
If developers started making *nix-compatible software then a large chunk of windows users would switch over.
Not sure if it happens, since developers love uniformity, i.e. only having to worry about one OS or only worrying about one console. Linux has way too many variants built on it. =(
That, and it's a catch-22, users may prefer another OS but it lacks all the softwa...
Thats what happened with TF2 recently.
You'd think someone at Activision would tip Kotick over the fact that the kids playing CoD would be willing to pay an extra $1 to have a fancy camo to wear for a month. x.x
Not sure what you mean by "sony being last"... unless if you're referring to consoles, in which case that's not even what Morgan was talking about.
Microsoft is a company that is going downhill (or atleast, thats the speculation at this point).
Apple, Google (and hell even Sony if you feel so inclined to bring it to the party) isn't.
Although I'd say that Xbox's live system was innovative. Can't say that didn't h...
Q4 of 2011 is soon?
No mention of Brink made me Rage.
No love for DeusEx either. =(
