I think Chozo is more appropriate.

You can just buy that one map pack when it becomes available. Just like you'd do with any other game.
Or well, that's how I think they'll do it.
Better yet, don't buy the next iteration.
A petition isn't going to sway them.
Game sales are mostly determined by advertising. In a few rare cases, a game might be successful based on word-of-mouth.
You're also making a pretty general assumption on the 'CoD crowd' and what they purchase or ignore. People don't care how hard the devs work, they care about how good the final product is... and how much the TV tells them to buy it. Sadly, a lot of good games get missed by a lot of people because they don't following gaming and never heard about ...
You do realize that the reason you've listed is essentially proving my point right?
It's popular. That's why ton of people that don't give a crap about games buy and play CoD every year just to tag along with their friends. Oh, and they probably are having fun too.
... and that is why you hate CoD. Because it is popular.
It's cool to hate something that is popular.
Examples include Wii, modern 'pop' music, and anything Apple has ever made.
The multiplayer beta/demo was fun.
Why wouldn't there be disagrees for an opinion?
If people disagree with your opinion, they'll disagree with your comment, and if they agree, they'll agree.
Wipeout isn't exactly comparable to an FPS game.
There are some games that are played for their visuals and immersion, others are played for their competitive nature. (To be fair, CoD has lost its competitive nature quite a long time ago, but people still find it competitive)
If you'd rather have better visuals at 30fps, then that's fine, there's plenty of games out there that do just that... but isn't it also good that people who like 60f...
One thing worth pointing out:
MW3 was on sale this weekend on Steam.
That is why it is on the Steam topseller, and also why the playercount is high.
When you factor in the non-steam games, MW3 isn't really that popular... or at least, not as popular as it is on consoles.
BlackOps2 is 16th in PCs bestseller, but it is #1 for PS3 (#2 for 360).
It should be pretty clear that CoD isn't as big a juggernaut on PC as it is on consoles...
^ In that case, you're simply picking graphics over gameplay.
Nothing wrong with that.
I prefer an average looking game at 60fps, because of the smoother controls.
The people who buy annual FPS releases also know what they are in store for.
The stereotypical CoD player also plays nothing else but CoD.
I was kind of disappointed in the single-player. I was expecting it to be toned down on the action, but it just ended up being another typical directed-by-michael-bay modern shooter.
Its odd to see EA take a jab at Activision when they're both competing for generic-shooter-of-the-year award.
What exactly does the current engine lack that you want a new engine to do?
You named a bunch of 'brilliantly talented' developers, none of which have made a multiplayer game running at 60fps.
Currently, the CoD games have a two-year dev cycle, which is pretty much the same for most other developers.
The recent CoD games haven't really been that popular on PC.
The game still sells, but it doesn't stomp out the competition on PC like it does on consoles.
A lot of good FPS games were listed there.
Anyways, I think what has me burnt out is the health regen. At least in the older games, if you took a rocket to the face, you'd need some bandages to fix it.
Now, it's just hide behind cover and then pop back out smelling like roses.
Before playing the beta, I was pretty excited for Starhawk, but after playing it, it kind of dropped down on my list.
I'm guessing it was just due to people being inexperienced, but CTF games would just end in an impasse with both sides having the flag heavily defended... and that kind of killed the intensity.
Still, the devs appear to be listening to community feedback, and hopefully the final game is better.
The 5 reasons are just something that you expect any shooter with vehicles to do.
=/
... and why are we comparing a TPS with FPS games?
Seems odd to compare Sony with Sega... if anything, it would appear that it's Microsoft that is following Sega's pattern.
(i.e. poor sales in one gen --> pretty good sales next gen)
I guess I wouldn't care anyways, since even if Sony dropped out of the console market, they should still be able to publish games.
... and dear God, keep Apple as far away as possible.
Why would they try to follow Valve's example when they're already making truck loads of money? They already have a product that prints money for them, so they're not going to want to make any changes until the cow is dead.
The goal of most big publishers is to suck money out of people's pockets.
Also, it's a pretty poor imitation of Valve's example once you start charging for updates, because what happens if players don't want to update? Wi...
