You don't have to spend too much time thinking. Cevat clearly says that it's the PC version which will be the benchmark in graphics for the next two years, kinda like how the first Crysis was.
(Unless if you're referring to Jinkies by 'he', in which case, his comment doesn't do much to counter Cevat's claim)
Assuming that both MS and Sony are competing for the same market, if one gets an early start then that is significant.
While there are some that can afford and will buy both systems, the reality is that in a lot of cases consumers will pick one. A sale earned by MS is a sale lost by Sony and vice versa.
The platform that releases early often ends up being purchased by those looking for a new system, which means they're less likely to buy the other new system that ...
Well, if you read the article, he did praise a certain recently released game that looks amazing on consoles.
Their older games like FarCry1 and Crysis1 did have innovative gameplay since they were more 'open' games and gave the player some level of freedom.
Crysis1's story wasn't all that great, but the reveal of the aliens and snow transition was a memorable moment.
This was before/around the time of CoD4 though. Unfortunately, Crytek seems to be following CoD's formula now by making the typical linear shooters. Either they've lost their vision, or i...
Consoles don't usually have high end tech.
They did popularize motion gaming last-gen, so the innovation is there.
It's also been quite a while since Nintendo had the most advanced hardware.
Some credit should also go to Irrational for finding a way to please the fans over a relatively trivial matter.
As for the cover, I'm having a hard time picking between the two artistic ones. =/
BloodMoney is a lot more forgiving than Hitman2, where NPCs can quickly see through your disguise.
Contracts has some parts which are a bit linear, but I liked the overall darker atmosphere of the game.
^ Piracy is a problem on PC.
The SteamBox isn't exactly a PC.
The SteamBox would likely use OpenGl, which means that a game made for SteamBox can easily be ported to Windows and OSX. For a developer, this means they can develop a game for one system in mind, and then have it accessible across a broad range of consumers because OpenGL is cross-platform.
If it is digital only, you don't need publishers, and if it isn't, then publishers have ...
^ You've made a few fair points, but please, don't make assumptions about piracy and third party support and then try to pass it off as reality.
Valve has an uphill battle, but they're not as obscure as you set them out to be, especially among people who are more into gaming.
The obvious threat to MS/Sony is that 'core' gamers might be more inclined to jump ship. That's the relatively small pool of people that are responsible for a large portio...
Yet the pre-order includes experience points, an attack booster, and in-game currency.
Not exactly the most reassuring thing to see.
It's a game from 2008.
Capcom just like to re-release their game every time there's DLC.
... another fighting game?
Meh, I guess it's a proper fighting game this time around.
It's already multiplatform to begin with.
Why deprive others from experiencing the game?
Well, DemonsSouls to DarkSouls is also about 2 years difference.
The general trend this gen has been that the first game takes some time to release, but the sequels plop out in a two-year cycle.
The guy's not playing the game for the first time.
It's just a self-imposed challenge that some people like doing.
Well hot diggity daffodil.
Congrats to all the other winners too.
@DoomeDx
He might have been using vsync.
Well if there are unannounced games, then you certainly wouldn't hear anything about them right now. Kinda like how TLOU was last year.
... except for Destiny due to the leak.
Actually, sales don't do much to support/counter their argument.
1 billion in sales means they've sold a lot of games, and that means they have a lot of players. To have servers to accommodate those players, they'd need a lot of servers. Those servers will cost a lot of money.
Thus, the cost of the servers increases with the amount of copies sold. So really, nothing changes.
With such large numbers, estimating the amount of server...
Usually I'm against the idea of having cross-platform between PC/Consoles for shooters because kb+m would get an unfair advantage over those with a gamepad...
... but in Planetside2's case, I can see people with a gamepad be pretty /usefulgood with the vehicles. Especially the aircraft.
