I'd say Starcraft and games like Dota/LoL are pretty mainstream.
Thing with MMO games is that a single popular game just cannibalizes the others, and it is difficult to break into the market and stay relevant while fighting off an older more established franchise.

Hopefully Company of Heroes 2 survives the post-THQ experience.

The trend this gen seems to be the other way around.

The larger publishers were the first to jump on online codes, while developers like Jaffe wanted to not have an online code because it kills their game's already small online community.

For the even smaller indie devs, they usually release their games as PSN/XBL titles and don't have to worry about 2nd hand sales.

err... you can use PS1 controllers on a PS2.

I think the PS2 controllers also work on a PS3 if you have an adapter.

Considering that there's no adapter to worry about with PS3/PS4 controller, it is a bit surprising if the PS3 controllers don't work for PS4.

Well, console controllers work on PC as well, and the economical argument swings either ways because games are much cheaper on PC, but on the other hand, the console hardware has longer legs.

The game lineup goes down to tastes, as both the PC and console have a comparable lineups but some genres are only popular on consoles, while others only on PC.

Safest bet is to get both, but I'd imagine that even someone who only owns either platform would be happy ...

I think with the social features the PS4 has, it's going to eat up a fair chunk of memory as well.

Besides, system ram isn't usually the bottleneck when it comes to performance of games on PC.

Oh really, so that's why you mentioned Nintendo Direct in it?

"You will never get the immersion from a Keyboard and Mouse, that's undeniable."

No, that's arguable.
I've played shooters with a kb+m and controller, and after the first few minutes, the difference with either is unnoticeable.

You might think the controller is more immersive if you're uncomfortable with the keyboard... but once you're used to both, your focus goes straight to the game rather than the controls.

You can't just 'forget' an entire series.
Resistance has undoubtedly had an impact on Insomniac's reputation, and they have shown that they can do more than just a visual style.

The crazy weaponry, however, has been a constant element in their recent games.

It is difficult to attain a realistic game through the story because it has to share the spotlight with the gameplay mechanics.

Uncharted is a game that demonstrates the contrast between the two elements. In UC2, you have to escort Jeff, the cameraman that gets wounded by a bullet, and while you're escorting him, you can get repeatedly shot by enemy henchmen and he just tanks it. All the believable dialogue and animation clash with the fact that a guy can tank bullets in ...

^ Your argument still isn't compelling:

1. Said dev was bankrupt while making Journey, and luckily Journey got the attention it deserved to sell well. It was a risky move, and it doesn't always work out for some devs (such as LightBox Interactive)

2. You're using a relative scale by saying it was the best selling game on PSN. It's not a hard number, and could be cynically interpreted to mean that PSN games just have low overall sales.

So, he wants games made for a wider audience, with even less challenge.
He overlooks games that don't emphasize violence since any games that does is somehow aimed at kids. I suppose point and click adventure games never existed.
Overlooks games that have addressed social issues (MGS, DeusEx, Bioshock, etc)

... and make games more like film by involving Hollywood.
Not sure I want games to grow up if that's the direction they're going to go....
