Not sure how that would help. Most of the criticism leveled so far against Absolution are things which were actually worse in the previous games. (Questionable AI, seemingly linear routes, etc)
Well, except for maybe the point-shooting.
A bit disappointed that they excluded the FPS games that emphasized horror and/or stealth like SystemShock, Thief, FEAR and Stalker.
You're kinda in an unfortunate position. The game makes you think it's a generic shooter, but then flips everything around. That surprise is kinda what made the game so memorable.
... but since it initially makes you think it's a generic shooter, you skipped it, and now, that surprise has been kinda spoiled for you as well.
What's likely to happen is that now when you play the game, the surprise won't be as big of a shocker. =/
Unfortunately, not many people actually make that distinction.
I suppose that since it was expected that CoD would be the big hit that would propel Vita forwards, the game getting negative reviews is seen as an attack on Vita, rather than an attack on a seemingly mediocre game.
^ A few things:
- L4D's campaign isn't for practicing multiplayer. Are you even familiar with how that game plays?
- You also overlooked my 2nd sentence, which was that the game has replay value. MGS is a short game too if you rush through it, but you can play it again and get a different experience. Recent CoD games don't have a lot of replay value.
- Crysis2 and MW2 got marks docked for storyline as well. I'm still not even ...
L4D still has ~3 hours of campaign even when you rush through it. The encounters also change per playthrough, so there is replay value.
Story in FPS games has been criticized before KZ3 (MW2) and after KZ3 (Crysis2), and were mentioned in reviews (just check IGN's review)
For a linear game like CoD which has little to no replay value, ~1 hour of SP content is pitiful for a game priced at $50.
It doesn't seem like people are against it because they hate...
Must be quite a review if it makes the readers lose their own credibility.

Publishers try to rip everyone off, and if they see greener pastures in mobile, then they would devote their attention entirely to mobile rather than spending any time or energy for "real" games.
Just as long as they don't kill relic.
"For talking sake, say this is a new IP's game and the mechaincs are due a 7 or 8 out of ten, is it fair that the same game under a different franchise should be treated more harshly and given a 6 because of the name on the box?"
In some cases, a new IP might be judged less harshly because it is new, and some of the mechanics might require some polishing.
For example, a game with decent animations will get a decent score. If, however, that game ...
I pretty much agree. The only negative I can think of when it comes to MGS is that it has to carry the storyline from previous games which, after the 2nd game, became quite a jumbled mess.
There are games that might have one sequel that takes a massive improvement over the previous one (like JustCause2) but not many that consistently do it for so long like MGS.
What I really like about them is, as you said, they transition smoothly. The gameplay has this kind of '...
^ Don't forget the ridiculous AimDownSight speed.
I'm really not even sure why the devs bother. It seems like the studio is split in half, with the story side trying to go for authenticity, and the gameplay side trying to go for arcade action.
Might as well make a new IP then.
Bikini's are usually not valid work-appropriate attire. For some employees (such as those involved in construction work, assassinations or cooking) bikinis can indeed be unsafe for work. Thus the precautionary tag.
You wouldn't have to use the service though. For those that want the dedicated hardware, they can get the PS4. Those that are fine with streaming, can buy the game through gaikai.
I still haven't understood how a streaming service counts as 'backwards compatibility'.
If anything, it would make more sense to have a subscription based streaming service on PS3 that plays PS4 games.
FF7 is on PC too. Not that it really matters since most of the game's popularity is due to the PS1.
Some of the characters are there as a form of pseudo-advertisement for upcoming games. Either ways, it's all good.
The part where new Dante takes a beating should've been longer.
Offering a discount for PS+ members seems like an odd move when a game has been part of the InstantGameCollection.
