Judging by how they reference smart phones as a constantly updating product, I'd assume it's a closed architecture with 1-2 year release cycles and offer a trade-in program. At some point there'll need to be an architecture/generation change to be the 'Xbox two' or whatever name they go with. Until then it'll just be cosmetic or HDD changes.

Same here.. there's been a number of games I bought day 1 or soon after, and wind up playing it months later.. at which point I could've paid $40 or possibly less. This is especially true in November when each week is packed with AAA releases and I just don't have the time to play games like I used to. Amazon prime's pre-order and new release 20% discount is nice (so is Best Buy's GCU) but I try to wait for the weeks/months til Best buy sells it for $40, then stack the G...

You keep saying cash grab, but I don't think it means what you think it means. Madden is an annual cash grab, along with Call of Duty. Far Cry is approaching cash grab status. Assassin's Creed became a cash grab.. and removed parts of the main story for DLC.

GTA is nearly the polar opposite of what a cash grab is.. the dev cycle on GTA games are what, 4 years? It's a single product with no DLC, and GTA online updates regularly with new content at no cost.. y...

Oh hell yes.. right now I'll occasionally put in game discs I haven't played in a while just to get the updates. Glad this is being added!

Bingo.. if Mighty No. 9 doesn't scare people away from crowdfunding games, they deserve to lose every dollar they give.

Well it's also a PC game.. and I don't think it's lack of an xbox release has much of an effect on the negative opinions. People in general are skeptical of the concept and repetitive nature of how it sounds. But as the root comment in this thread says, we should really hold judgment on the release product until we see for ourselves.

Especially true if they continue the trend in Destiny's Rise of Iron DLC.. that'll mean Xbox gets that PS exclusive content about the same time Destiny 2 is expected to come out. The 1 month CoD exclusivity window is about the limit to what I'd consider a reasonable amount of time.

Well if they're purely console gaming I'd wait for Scorpio. Personally I just built a high-end PC a few months ago so I'll get the Xbox One S and call it good... and since my original XB1 is still working (after a disc drive repair) it should hopefully last til the 500gb 1S comes out.

I've always preferred Nvidia to ATI, overall quality and driver support has always been better with Nvidia. So to read this is of little surprise.. ATI's business model seems to be to try and undercut Nvidia at the expense of build quality and reliability.

All depends on price for me.. but seeing as how I just built a solid gaming cpu a few months ago i'll probably just stick with the Xbox One S for the time being. But I've said it before, the Scorpio will be perfect for those who want a VR capable gaming system without building one, but it'll need to be cheaper or same price as a same spec PC.

Wellllll seeing as how it's an opinion piece I can only comment with my opinion.

Destiny, Battlefront, and Watch Dogs don't strike me as awful games. Each of them were commercially successful, and with two of them being new IP's that's no easy feat.. and Battlefront benefited from timing of the movie and the fact a Star Wars game will always sell well. The common theme I'd say these 3 games share is repetition.. Destiny lacked story so you just repea...

Now that Nintendo's patent on loading screen mini-games has expired, I expected to see some games take advantage of the opportunity by now. If you can't make the game load faster, at least give players a means of distraction.

Syntax seems to be pretty important in all voice commands.. would be nice if they'd program in a few variations. I'm running the beta but really haven't messed with Cortana yet. I'm not a big fan of voice commands in general.

And who developed those games.. any names you've ever heard of before their individual successes? Keiji Inafune's name has (had) a good reputation, he wouldn't need to do much more than go to Microsoft or Sony and say "I want to make this game" to get them on board. He didn't need kickstarter, that's where unknown creators go to make their name.. people know Keiji Inafune already. Hopefully for his sake ReCore is a good game, or his name/brand is a sinking shi...

The worst kind.. the "this was just announced and literally nobody knows what the final specs are so I'll phony up a chart for clicks" kind of bait.

Link to the Past is still my favorite, but I can definitely agree with it being amazing at the time.

Think of the current Xb1 and Xb1S as a no-nonsense entry into the MS ecosphere. And think of Scorpio as the no-nonsense VR-capable device. Both offer you access to Microsoft games/products without a traditional PC. Want more performance? Build a PC. Don't want to build a pc? Choose an xbox that meets your needs. Welcome to the Universal Windows Platform.

Well it's really going to come down to price on the Scorpio.. even as an xbox loyalist I can see and partially agree with your point. I definitely don't see steam support being something they do. I see Xbox, or rather the direction they're taking xbox, as a device intended for non-windows people. You're not going to sell a Apple/Mac loyalist on buying a high quality win10 PC for VR, so they can instead buy a Scorpio and utilize the Oculus Rift. And PC gamers already know t...

Yep, DR3 was in my opinion the most accessible one so far.. and it's probably super-cheap by now, so give it a try!

Sony definitely has a clearer message when they go into a conference like E3. The number of 'clarifications' that Microsoft has needed to make on their upcoming hardware releases drown out the hardware announcements themselves.

That said, how many of their announced games will actually release before next years E3? PSVR will launch, though games sound more like tech demos or game add-on "experiences". No Man's Sky will release in August.. The Last G...
