Well it's good for Microsoft, in that they won't be forcing a release on a product doomed to fail. And good for gamers that they won't need to lie about it being ready to release when it's clearly not coming together.
Doesn't really affect me personally as I had no interest in the game in the first place, but definitely weakens their first party lineup for the year which already seemed sparse.
Absolutely should have renamed this game. The post references how they didnt' want people's expectations to be tied to the 2006 Prey.. hey I know, USE A NEW NAME SO NOBODY THINKS OF THE ORIGINAL.
Was plenty of new content in the Blizzard Mountain expansion so it was worth the price to anyone who liked the core game. The most notable gameplay difference I noticed (aside from snow tires and being on a mountain) was the addition of specific skill/goal challenges to get the maximum 3 stars in a race. Meaning out of the 3 total stars you get 1 for finishing the event, 2 for finishing in first place, and the 3rd for finishing in first and getting a skill score of 160,000.. or 35 drifts in...
Xbox Ultra would be pretty solid indeed.
Steam definitely reeks of monopoly in the PC gaming space, but if Microsoft and Valve teamed up to enable/allow Scorpio to play Steam games that'd be a legitimate game changer.
Definitely shouldn't phase out the Xbox name.. but would absolutely suggest they come up with a name that is neither "Scorpio" or anything that begins with XBOX One ____ .. they've already used the Elite moniker on the Xbox One console with the SSHD .. maybe tap into the PS4 namespace with the Xbox Pro.
Well they haven't really done that for a long time.. maybe as far back as N64 or Super NES. They seem to be focused on their family-friendly image, and a quirkly nuance that separates their device from the market competitors. That way they don't feel like they need to 'compete'.. it's why the Wii was under-spec'd compared to say Xbox 360 or PS3. So here's my take.. they either need to do a complete corporate shake-up at the top and adopt a new philosophy, or the...
Should be a new Forza Motorsport this year.. but with Gears just coming out I'd expect 2-3 years there, and Halo is likely next year. I'm also pretty skeptical of Sea of Thieves based on its Destiny-style forced multiplayer, so it's really going to come down to Crackdown 3 and Motorsport delivering solid sales to drive Scorpio launch numbers.
Didn't really work well for Ratchet and Clank.. the game had a much better reception than the movie intended to spark interest in the game. Seems especially ironic considering Uncharted is influenced significantly by cinema.. so it'd be another case of a movie based on a game based on a movie. Sony would be wise to save their money and skip making this movie altogether.
A lot of us hoped prices would be lower with digital products (e-books, games, etc) seeing as it avoids the costs to produce, ship, and shelf space. Some games will always sell well at the $60 price point, but I'd be curious to see what would happen if more games launched at $40, and if the economics of scale would result in more profit by elling more units and appealing to a more frugal customer base. Titanfall 2 would be a good example of where it could pay off to be less expensive th...
Mostly replying to the comment below. Keep in mind that Skyrim Remastered is really a game developed for last-gen 360/PS3 with all the DLC, so it's not a solid indicator of it's power compared to XB1. If it could run something like Dead Rising 3 or 4, Forza Horizon 3.. then we're talking about a real XB1 game.
Speaking of which, I was playing Skyrim Remastered on XB1 and it locked up on me. They really preserved the integrity of the original. :)
There's 2 days a week I drive into a cellular dead zone and wait/ride a ferry.. this would've been a perfect time to play this game. But as always, anti-piracy measures win over convenience.
Yes. I don't play GTA online as it's a playground of griefers and cheaters, and I would gladly give them more money for more story.
So those games you listed.. here's some release dates
Horizon: Zero Dawn - Feb 28, 2017
Death Stranding - N/A
Detroit: BH - N/A
Days Gone - N/A
Ni no Kuni 2 - 2017?
Ace Combat 7 - 2017?
God of War - N/A
Spider-Man - N/A
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - 2017 - DLC for UC4
The Last of Us: Part 2 - Christmas 2018
Sucker Punch - no game, no date
So 3 games slated for 2017, one wi...
Well you and the OP have good points, consumers are familiar with 'pro' branding and what it generally includes. BUT at the same time, Microsoft will probably not want to give the impression that the upgrade from PS4 to PS4 pro is the same as the upgrade from Xbox One S to the Scorpio. It has higher specs and the ultra-HD blu-ray drive, which the PS4 pro doesn't have. They've already had an Elite variation of the Xbox One as well with the 1TB SSHD and the elite controller b...
For a long time the titles were entirely forgettable or games I'd never heard of. But they're definitely hitting their stride with some quality games lately.. kudos to Microsoft for sticking with it.
When you're as stupid as the OP we're replying to, you get put into special math classes.
Paid $20 for it over the Thanksgiving weekend sale madness. Even if it's a boring slog or hyper-repetitive, I've paid much more for games that made me feel ripped off.
Bingo.. ultimately it's their money and what they do with it is their business. Maybe some people are bad with money so they spend it on a pre-order while they have the cash available. And in the case of limited/collectors editions that include something the player wants, it's understandable to pre-order something like that. But digital games, DLC, season passes.. literally no reason to do. They're not going to run out of downloads to sell you. But I return to my initial sent...
So far it seems to be an EA thing.. lets hope other publishers/companies steer clear of such overt fleecing of customers.
