He's probably talking about the $500-600 price tag that torpedoed it's launch numbers. It did recover nicely later on during the cycle, but not in time for the 360 to control that hardware generation.
If this game sells for anything above $20, you could literally buy an old SNES and SF2 Super Turbo Championship edition for less. If you're going to blindly give your money away, give it to a charity that does good things for those in need, not a corporation fleecing you for every dollar you have to make up for current and past mistakes.
I think it's more the point that it was perceived to be an issue and already is before the console has even launched. I've had patches for XB1/PS4 games that are bigger than the entire built-in storage of Switch. Rather than do anything about the problem, they passed the cost of adding storage on to you.. how considerate.
SDHC cards are cheap you say? Then why couldn't they buy them in bulk for a huge discount and integrate them into the system.. and give you...
Yeh it's not a good time.. any trip to Disneyland/world or Universal will make you wish you only had waited one hour for a ride.
These sound like the same reasons I stopped doing midnight releases.. aside from being an adult with a career. You wait til the 12am 'launch', get home and download a multi-GB patch. If you're lucky that only takes anywhere from 5-20 minutes. Then you load the game, which requires an always-online connection for no particular reason, and their servers crash. That's a best case scenario, because if they don't crash they're just laggy. Day 1 digital prevents some of...
Phil merely feels like a relate-able corpo exec.. but the fact remains he is a corporate exec. And like every single one.. be it Shuhei, Reggie Fils-Aime/Satoru Iwata, Phil Spencer.. they'll always have great things to say about their own brand. You will NEVER see one say 'well you know, Sony is really crushing us in sales this generation", or "the WiiU was a failure" or that "Sony as an entity is being saved almost exclusively due to the success of playstation&q...
The only gripes I've seen about the Zelda DLC is the fact you must buy both. Coincidentally one contains a challenge mode, harder difficulty mode, and an in-game map.. things that can easily be added to a game for free. So I can understand the frustration that they're packaging a novelty DLC along with one that adds/extends the story.
That and people seemed to think Nintendo was never going to go the DLC route.. but money seems to be the key focus of this particul...
I'm not going to defend it as some amazing game, but from a purely sales perspective it was still the top selling console game last year, despite releasing in November. Even considering the whole "Battlefield 1 trailer is the most liked and Infinite Warfare trailer is the most disliked" thing didn't affect that. Sales were down from the previous year, but I'd hardly call the franchise dying.. maybe dying creatively, but not to the point it won't be out every year. ...
Reminds me of an English essay assignment where you need to use more than x amount of words.
With the other trending post "Zelda DLC is worse than you think" being so popular, it was a given that some fanboy was going to post a positive piece.
It sounds like one of the 'expansions' is stuff that should be added on for free (and probably should've been included with the core game) while the other sounds like it could be a decent addition to the game. Forcing you to buy the first to get the second is kind of scummy, but realistically there wouldn't b...
Well I'd be surprised if State of Decay made it this year, but I agree that Crackdown 3 essentially NEEDS to release this year. It'll be the best opportunity to showcase the console's power.
In reply to Overload, they already stated that the destructable city was only going to work in MP since it'll be powered by cloud computing. Single player will have some destruction but not to the same degree as Multi. Other than that they've been particularly radio silent ...
I hope ISIS burns through whatever 3rd world hell hole you live in.
Not really.. NES classic is a good example of surviving, cash in on nostalgia and convenience at an affordable price.
Its the gimmicks that kill their systems these days. If the Wii hadn't been $100 less than the 360 it probably wouldn't have been nearly as successful.
Shady? Not really, but also entirely preventable. Lack of inventory can cause customers to simply give up looking, like many have had to do with the NES classic.
And you'll never get them. It's dated hardware and an under-powered console, so Nintendo will avoid the hardware specs topic entirely and focus on how they plan to maximize Switchs potential with their great games, etc.
I've also heard the Switch will run Half Life 3 at 4k 60fps.
Guess what.. Nintendo can say whatever they want about their products. Until they produce something that works, it's all nonsensical vaporware. They're launching a device that can barely run current-gen games, and even if it can it won't be able to store them. You think it's going to have enough power for VR? Maybe VR like Samsung Galaxy Gear VR.. nothing like PSVR/Oculus/Vive.
The reports that they're already working on the first DLC is very disturbing to hear. Why not focus their resources on making sure they release a stable, fun, well-crafted game experience rather than finding all of the avenues in which they can drag out their historically bad storytelling for the sake of profits? A good game will make you money.. a lackluster game obviously and intentionally designed to be drawn out to milk your last dollar will put them right back where they were with ...
I've decided to hold off on skewering it on any further posts. They have a good track record with their hardware (other than the WiiU) being stable and comfortable. I do wish it felt like a better value, with a pack-in game or include the joy-con charger unit.
Really should just push this to 2018, although I guess PS4 could use a fresh car racing entry. Xbox will likely have Forza Motorsport 7, and with the end of year window always being crowded it'd be a shame to see it release in holiday season only to fizzle out.
OMG! What next!!?! A web browser? Streaming services? Battery charging faster than it drains? The options are limitless!!!!
