We can only hope Bethesda continues to let Arkane do what they want

Thank you. This article took a lot of effort on my part and I wasn’t sure if it was good enough to publish online, but yes. Prey is an excellent immersive sim and it’s a shame how many people dismissed it without giving it a fair chance. It’s one of the best games of the generation easily.

.....uh.....nothing alike

I didn’t like the demo and stopped playing it, but bought the full game months later knowing that it was an immersive sim, which you didn’t get too much of a sense of in the demo. I’ve now put in over 31 hours in the past week and nowhere near beating it because I’m just dumbfounded at how intricate the experience is and just how much player freedom exists. I’m constantly going off and ignoring objective markers to find out what’s in this room or what happens if I mess around and look over he...

It does not run poorly on pro. At one point, there were frameprscing issues across all ps4 systems when the pro patch was brought out, but those have been addressed and it is now a consistent 30 frames per second and feels like every other 30fps game. It’s also a cry engine title, which is a demanding and cpu bound engine, meaning the. Xbox One X will not all of a sudden be targeting 60 for this game, so the performance will be no better than pro for this particular game.

The Prey reboot is an incredibly high quality and intricately designed immersive sim in the vein of Deus Ex. Considering how uncommon the immersive sim genre is, having a game like Prey release in the age of lacking creativity and greedy publishers pushing toward more multiplayer focused titles so that they can monetize everything is a breath of fresh air. Prey is a massively complex game with so much player freedom with regard to how you can approach situations and complete objectives. It is...

that doesn't change that current gen remasters of last gen games actually offer a bigger visual boost and more actual effort in terms of graphical fidelity being improved over 7th gen's straight the exact same assets and effects, but just render the image at a higher resolution. Very few actual current gen remasters are just resolution bumps and nothing else. God of War 3 is actually one of the few straight resolution bumps and currently stands as one of the laziest remasters this gen...

Every last gen remaster of ps2 games were basically just res bumps. This gen’s remasters of last gen games have been different. They’ve typically bumped resolution in addition to visual enhancements. Now of course some games have gone further than others and there DO exist just resolutions bumps like UMvC3, but most remasters actually have been more than just resolution bumps.

GTA 5 was a remaster with a significant visual upgrade over the last gen versions.

Mario Kart 8 did not have "updated visuals"
It's nothing more than a port from 720p to 1080p with no anti-aliasing.

Uh let’s not kid ourselves, guy. I own a PS4 pro and I’m getting the Xbox One X for Christmas. I read up a lot on these upgrade consoles and yes, the Xbox One X is much more powerful and some games like Wolfenstein 2, Dishonored 2, and The Evil Within 2(which I’ve been holding off on playing until getting the one x) offer massive night and day differences that are more noticeable than the difference between base hardware and PS4 pro.

With that said, PS4 pro is very reasonab...

Never mind. I was thinking of another collection. There were so many remasters last gen that weren’t true 1080p and were just 720p upscaled to 1080p

3035d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

It wasn’t. It was 720p on ps3.

Edit: dammit. Why can’t you delete comments? I was mistaken with another of the dozens of collections released last gen that were just 720p

3035d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yes there is. The ps3 version was a native 720p. This will be a native 1080p. This is a different occasion than the Okami remaster which was already native 1080p on ps3 so if you’re buying it now over the ps3 version, it better be for the physical release as well as the added 4k support. Otherwise, If you’re stuck on a 1080p display, Okami on current gen offers no visual benefit over the ps3 remaster. On ps3, it already internally rendered at a higher than 1080p resolution and downsampled fro...

And yet they have 4K support for ps4 pro and Xbox one x on the Okami remaster, a more niche ip than devil may cry....makes perfect sense

BF4 as released in the state that it was entirely due to EA. Dice had no control over that and the amount of effort that dice poured into fixing the game post launch and making previously paid dlc content free all after the game was broken for several months...that shows they were dedicated to salvaging their work of art that was destroyed by EA’s insistinece on rushing the game out the door

@kevnb...do you not watch awards shows held by individual gaming publications? They have entire separate videos or segments for each category instead of just casually stating in a matter of 7 seconds that the winners for these 4-5 categories are blah blah blah and moving on. That’s not a proper awards show

3037d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

It was awful. Just like every other year, it was nothing more than a marketing machine. More than half the awards were glossed over with “and the winners for these 4 categories are” and moved on. It’s not even a celebration of games when more than half the categories aren’t even given the respect and time they deserve. They’re just casually passed off so Keighley could keep his investors happy by advertising upcoming games

If it launched at 30fps on a platform and all of a sudden an update doubles the framerate....that is most definitely news worthy

3038d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

Credibility out the door. This article cliams the cinematic mode renders at “true 4k” which is straight up not true. The devs said it runs at 1440p using temporal super sampling as they call it
