Not really. It’s a 1080p version of the original games (they were always 60fps) for $30. $10 a piece. For someone like me that only ever played them on PS2 and never got the PS3 collection, there’s far worse out there.

It is lazy in the sense that it doesn’t support 4K for PS4 pro and Xbox One X which is disappointing for someone that owns both and a 4K TV, but at the end of the day, let’s not pretend like 1080p 60fps ps2 games are worthy of a 2.5/10. When we had publishers...

The games have not aged brilliantly. The camera work and movement is stiff, but a 2.5 is EXTREME. That’s like really really extreme.

Higher resolutions make pixel art games look way more beautiful than you’d expect

It’s not basically a pc port and this video proves that

Because it’s just a port of the devil may cry collection last gen which only existed to make the standard definition games run in high definition resolutions????

And Devil May Cry 4 was already HD because it was made for PS3 and Xbox 360 and it also already got remastered and released on ps4 and Xbox One whereas this collection is the first time 1-3 are playable on ps4 and Xbox One.

Pretty obvious why #4 isn’t in the collection.

Every console imaginable??? You mean only PS3 and then ps4 and Xbox One????

Whereas, let’s look at RE 4. After the GameCube, it got ported to ps2, pc, wii, iOS, PS3, Xbox 360, PC again but fixed this time, then finally ps4 and Xbox One. Yeah, the Devil May Cry collection was ported to everything. Not Resident Evil 4 🙄🙄🙄/sa rcasm

It’s $30. Not $40.

These changes not only result in a better looking game, but also as the articles clarifies, less computational expenses, resulting in better performance. If you don’t care about your game that you “just want to play” getting better performance (a pretty important part of just playing), then that’s on you.

It’s kind of a similar thing to checkerboard rendering. It uses information from previous frame and “injects” them into the current frame to resolve a higher pixel count. That’s how I understand it.

That’s some Michael Pacter level of obvious foresight you’ve got there.

It can use a new engine, but if it visually looks the same or similar to the original, then it’s a remaster. Not a remake. It’s not a remake unless every single asset is touched and changed. You can change engines without changing a game’s assets.

It was already 1080p on PS3

With Monster Hunter World, that’s just poor optimization. In its resolution mode, it IS missing some level of detail present on the ps4 pro, but it’s also got much sharper image quality than the pro version.

That’s not a matter of “contracts”. That’s just a matter of this is a Japanese dev and Monster Hunter is huge in Japan and PlayStation was undoubtedly going to be their biggest install base for the game so they clearly spent more time optimizing for PS4 consoles than X...

A contract agreement to prevent the devs from enhancing for Xbox One X even though the game is going to release on switch, Xbox One, and pc???

You’ve got to be out of your goddamned mind to think they’d have a contract to specifically prevent an Xbox One X patch. That’s some conspiracy theory crap right there.

If it supported ps4 pro, there’s no reason to see it won’t support Xbox One X considering how many countless devs have said the One X is easier to develop for than the PS4 pro.

@kev....you shouldn’t have to turn down ANY setting on a 10 year old game with supposedly “good” optimization

The pc version was just poorly optimized....it’s unanimously considered one of the worst pc ports of all time right up there with the original pc port of Resident Evil 4. Nothing could max it because it was a crap port with awful optimization.

It’s probsbly Xbox One X enhanced now.

Ha. Me. A casual gamer. Ha, that’s funny. You just proved my point exactly. When you have such narrow tastes, you’re going to complete everything you want. When you’re like me and LOVE the industry and every kind of experience it can offer, I literally get excited for almost every game I hear about. So I’m going to buy the games I have money for and naturally, some of them will just go unfinished as more and more games continue to be released.

Sorry that some of us are pass...
